Selma's reps are worth more than 1. (*edit: hers are worth four as of now)
here is the breakdown
***
10-499 reps = 1 rep (If your reps are not gray)
500-999 reps = 2 reps
1000-1499 reps = 3 reps
1500+ reps= 4 reps
*Of course the number of posts and the amount of time you have been here can also increase your repping power (and yes, all these factors for reps are stackable  )
For example, if you have been here two years and have between 500-999 reps, your reps count as 4
Hope this helps :)

I have gotten rep with NO comment and it DOES still show up and counts .....
the name of the user shows up as well as the thread that they rep'd me for.

^You click on the little green box under the person's name. Wait until you have 50 posts (or so) so they will actually count.

Why wait?
Everyone appreciates a thank you ....
who cares whether it counts or not.

When I click there, I get a message that says I do not have permission to view the page. I guess I can't rep until I have a certain number of posts?
Postathon, here I come!

mkae sure you're in the correct forum, rep pts are only enabled in the deals/deal discussion forums and tech support.
doing in this thread should give you a rep is not enabled here, but if its not working can lead to the page cannot be displayed error.

Hm, never thought of it like that, as I figured a PM would do. Plus you can type more in a PM.

I have written some very lengthy rep notes. :)

I've noticed a disturbing trend - why are mods the most stingy when it comes to giving rep points for great deals? Shouldn't they be the most generous?
Also, thank you e-mails should be automatically sent out when a member reaches 10, 50, 100, 500 etc rep points. Ebay uses this system, with great success. Why doesn't Slickdeals? ;)
As this site has matured, less and less is given to those who deserve MORE, such as nerp powers for 100+ rep points members being removed!
Unless positive actions are taken to reverse or nullify these downward trends, this site will not grow nearly as fast as it should, and will not live up to it's full potential.

i don't go through the forums looking especially for good posts that i should rep. that's a lot of time i just don't have.
if its something i buy, i definetly rep a person for it.
people don't always like recieving emails from sd, some people reported it as spam in the past.
as to nerp's, it was used more for spite than what its meant to be. there's more carrots in the works for rep levels. it'll be worth it, just be patient ;)

Who says the mods don't give out reps. Even if they didn't, I would not force anyone to give out reps. :) Automatic reppage for frontpagers have been tossed around but hasn't been implemented yet.
Do people want an email every 10,50,100 + rep points? The ones that are interested in their rep count will know when they hit the target and will have a number of users patting their backs already. One more thank you doesn't hurt though.
Nerps were removed because it created hostility between users. We learned our lesson so any new abilities will be thought out a little more.

just for the record, I got repped from three different mods. and one of those mods repped me twice on different occasion for a different reason.
i personally felt flattered because i feel that when a mod reps you, then it was well-deserved and acknowledged.

anyone ever get a rep messege from a newbie that reads suspiciously like a spam ad?
(I'm wondering what the rules on that are)
PS: hope no one minds me bumping this thread.. I didn't see the point in starting up yet another rep point question thread.. and this one was near the top of my search results..
random.

i've looked at your reps.. there's nothing that looked especially like a spam message.

thank you - I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings.. I just couldn't decide if that last grey rep was poor grammer, or spam (it reads like the spam emails I get everyday.. almost wanting me to click for more info)... and I didn't want to bother any Mod's until I got a second opinion (Melissa2 offered to take a look at it for me)..
