Suggestion for Rep Points to award more goals. The three currently existing items that I am aware:

100 rep points - username goes bold.
500 rep points - your rep to others counts as 2, and there some additional thresholds past that.
Each Anniversary up to some threshold your rep to others increases by 1.

New Suggestion:Give out an additional change to a users post when they reach additional rep thresholds such as change the color of the user name at 500, 1000, 2000, etc. Another possibility is to add a special character near their name similar to how eBay adds a colored star for each threshold.

Thoughts?

Disclaimer: I have a really long way until I even reach 100 rep, but I have read other individual posts that discuss what is the purpose of rep, and once you go bold there is nothing else to look forward to. I also see many people turn off their rep because they don't see the value. I personally just joined the site in March, yet I realized the value of the rep pts by trusting (semi-cautious) some posts from individuals with much higher rep like Selma and being more cautious of posts from people with little to no rep. I apologize if something exactly like this has been posted before. I went through some of the other rep discussions and didn't see something recent that was regarding the same thing. The closest one was regarding what you could trade-in your rep for.

in my opinion, the color change won't do anything. just seeing the total rep counts is good enough. besides, the mods have the colors to their usernames.

if regular users like us had color to our names, it might get confusing.

Just noticed another color changing area -> What are the color levels of the oval next to the rep level? I noticed it is green at least until 1000 and it was blue for Selma who is above 2000.

well then...there you go :wink2:

those color differentiates the levels of reps...like your OP but next to the rep numbers.

500 rep points - your rep to others counts as 2, and there some additional thresholds past thatIve been giving +2 reps to others for awhile & I havent passed even 100 reps myself. I believe its based on posts or posts/reps combination. Ask a mod & they'll answer

It is based on a combination of posts, reps, time being with the site.

are you sure about the "posts, reps" part?
I have a pretty high post count and rep count, yet my reps didn't count as 2 points until my exact first anniversary date.
