Suggestion for Rep Points to award more goals. The three currently existing items that I am aware:
100 rep points - username goes bold.
500 rep points - your rep to others counts as 2, and there some additional thresholds past that.
Each Anniversary up to some threshold your rep to others increases by 1.
New Suggestion:Give out an additional change to a users post when they reach additional rep thresholds such as change the color of the user name at 500, 1000, 2000, etc. Another possibility is to add a special character near their name similar to how eBay adds a colored star for each threshold.
Thoughts?
Disclaimer: I have a really long way until I even reach 100 rep, but I have read other individual posts that discuss what is the purpose of rep, and once you go bold there is nothing else to look forward to. I also see many people turn off their rep because they don't see the value. I personally just joined the site in March, yet I realized the value of the rep pts by trusting (semi-cautious) some posts from individuals with much higher rep like Selma and being more cautious of posts from people with little to no rep. I apologize if something exactly like this has been posted before. I went through some of the other rep discussions and didn't see something recent that was regarding the same thing. The closest one was regarding what you could trade-in your rep for.
