I called Comcast@1-877-395-5388 and told them I wanted to switch from a 3Mbps/$14.99 ATT DSL to Comcast Internet-only service. They offered me 12Mbps/$24.99 or 20Mbps/$29.99 per month, no contract, price locked for 12 months. I already have the cable modem - so $25 installation fees only.
I am in San Jose, California. Please let others know if this works in your areas too.

2/16/2011 - Call 877-298-0903 (credit to dwzdwz) from San Jose $19.99 for 12 months

12/16: I'm a current customer in the Chicago area. Spoke online to a rep and was told the promotion is not in my area yet.
12/15: called in to cancel cuz i was thinking about switching to Clear, they offered me 24.99 for 6 months. i have my own modem. -houston, tx

12/15: existing customer - called in while on way to home from work - got another 6 months at 24.99/month (12MB) - San Mateo County, Bay Area.
1/19/2011: Canceled TV and Internet on 1/6/2011 (Promotion ended and they wouldn't extend): Called in and got 6 months at $19.99/month for 15 Mbps internet - Philadelphia, PA

~1/15/2011: Kansas City area. ATT customer. Called to see what they will offer me. 39.99 for Blast for 6mo was as low as I talked them down. Called back 2/7 and they are saying service is not available at that address. Jumped on online chat and stated that I want the Blast $30 for 12 mo promo. Rep told me that she could only get me 6 mo for $30 (without even checking my address) and transferred me to new sales dept for 12mo. The rep there told me my building is not hooked up. Bottom line - you should be able to get at least 6 mo of Blast for $30.

~02/09/2011: Union City, New Customer. Got the Performance plan for 19.99 12 months with contract.
Economy 3 Mbps (19.99)
Perfomance 12 Mbps (24.99 some were able to get this for 12 months)
Blast 20 Mbps (throttled, not sure what he meant by this, 29.99 for 12 months no questions asked)
Throttling refers to isp's attempt at stopping or limiting your bandwidth when they detect certain activities from its clients. This is usually done for p2p so if you torrent and they detect it, they can try to limit your bandwidth. I do not know the details specifically for this though.

Sugar Land, TX (77479) - Best is "Blast 16Mbps"/$29.99 for 6 months and claimed to required DOCSIS 3.0 modem / 12Mbps/$24.99 not available (chat; CSR MaChristina)

Houston, TX 77082 - Blast+basic cable 29.99 12month no contract no installation fee no haggle

Atlanta, GA, 30052 , Blast for 35 a month(claimed to be 16mb). Offered 12 mb for 30. Almost 60 dollars after the contract wears off though. 10 dollar installation (vs 10 shipped), free wireless router when you ask for it.

NOTE: Comcast use their PowerBoost speed as their advertising speed. For example, The "Perfomance 12Mbps" will get up to 12Mbps with PowerBoost (only the first 20 MB) and up to 8Mbps without PowerBoost (after the first 20MB).*This statement is not correct. The performance 12mbps is the actual speed, performance internet gives 15mbps wth powerboost. The blast tier is 16mbps and 22mbps with powerboost.

! NOTE: COMCAST HAS A MONTHLY BANDWIDTH LIMIT OF 250 GB.

The Service is for personal and non-commercial residential use only.
Therefore, Comcast reserves the right to suspend or terminate Service
accounts where data consumption is not characteristic of a typical
residential user of the Service as determined by the company in its
sole discretion. Comcast has established a monthly data consumption
threshold per Comcast High-Speed Internet account of 250 Gigabytes
(“GB”). Use of the Service in excess of 250GB per month is excessive
use and is a violation of the Policy

Comcast SUCKS. Where I live, Comcast is "THE ONLY" high speed service provider.

I'm paying out of my A$$.

My choice... go 56K or go cable for $44.95 (reduced $20) because I have cable tv with them, I'm paying for 10MB/s.

I am able to download 1GB in about 15minutes... do you really need 20MB/s?

I did this and switched to AT&T DSL and regret every second of it. Compared to Comcast the speed and latency is AWFUL.

Got the same deal couple of weeks ago as a new customer (opted for $24.99/mth for 12 mths, Performance. Mountain View, CA). Tried hard to get the $25 installation fee waived but it was futile. I already bought my own modem from the newegg deal but still no dice on the installation fee. Still, pretty happy with the price

OP states Internet only.
I have been with COMCAST "Internet-only" promotion of $19.99/month since August 2009 (new customer, Montgomery County, MD). The deal was advertised for 1 year and I expected the bill to grow back to ~$65 (including taxes/fees) since COMCAST always charged same for Internet-only OR BasicTV+Internet. But to my amazement, since the end of the promotional period I receive only $29.99 bills... I guess it is the end of the "must-buy-TV" reign!

I had comcast and switched over to Qwest DSL 15Mbps and the latency is dramatically different to the point where if my wife is skyping with her mom I can't remote into machines into work because too much lag and delay.

Although that is a price to pay since with comcast it was disconnecting our skype calls every 2-3 minutes -- apparently they strung their system a little too tight...

Comcast is much faster than ATT DSL, or their Uverse, better value also when compared, BUT the problem is the bandwith cap.

Do they still have a cap of like 200GB a month? Will not cut it with all the HD streaming and what not, esp in a full household.

dinjal546

If you have 10MB/s (80Mbs) then you should be able to download the 1GB in under 2 minutes :). It is always Megabits per second and not Mega Bytes. Small change but big difference.

Download speed is always like TV (get biggest one can afford), get the highest speed you can afford.

Same here. I missed out on the $19.99 deal, but got in on $29.99 in Summer 2009 (1 year promotion deal) and it still has not gone up in price. A friend of mine who is an existing customer was able to call in, threaten to cancel and get $29.99/mo for a year as well. This is all for the 15down internet, which is pretty great in my opinion.

They still have the 250GB cap. I jumped on the 6 month $20/mo special on the internet.

As far as I know tv or phone service is required to get the special pricing at least in chicagoland area.

If you want internet by itself you're better off with uverse.

COX SUCKS!!!!! Not Comcast IMO. I pay $46 for 10 MB/s connection in Southern California for Cox .Mind you, Cox is the only company which charges you $100 for self installation even if you have your own modem(amazing ain't it), just imagine how much they're gonna charge you if you ask them to install it by themselves!!!!. Where I live, Cox is the only broadband service provider. When I lived in other states and cities, I used to have Comcast and I loved their service and their pricing. I used to get 12 MB/s for $19.99 or 15MB/s for $24.99 for years. Whenever I called them they put me on one or other promotion.

There isn't any worst service provider than Cox in the whole United States.

FWIW -- Last week I switched to FIOS. When I was on the phone the Comcast rep offered me $15 off my bill to stay. Fios was far cheaper even after this $15 discount, but it might be worth a try for some others out there. You'll need to go through all the way to a rep who is about to disconnect you...I didn't get this offer when I called to tell them about the Fios deal and get them to match it

I suggest hanging up and recalling if the initial retention CSR doesn't give you what you want. Just keep playing hard ball "no..too expensive..I think I'd like to just cancel if I can't get that price", and if they finally say "ok we'll cancel you" just say "nevermind don't cancel" and hang up... and then call again!

I get 4-5 at best from Comcast and am paying nearly $65, spotty connection most of the time. When I call them it's typically blamed on my router or NIC.

I will be doing DSl very soon. Used it and installed it for others. Significantly more solid and cheaper.

I've only known 2Wire DSL modems but if yours is a cable modem, then you can contact Comcast to find out.

You're welcome.

I've not tested the bandwidth cap as I'm not a heavy user, but have read people getting notices/warnings or getting throttled. I'd suggest to read up on some of the comments out there on the net.

If you don't need to lock in the rates for 12 months, try to see if the offers from http://www.comcastoffers.com/ (for FAR modem) or http://buytelco.com/ (I think they give out AMZN GCs) or others may work for you. Those are usually only for 6 months. You do have to keep records for the rebates and may require to follow up.

Fine print says

"Offer limited to Performance High-Speed Internet and requires subscription to either Comcast Cable or phone service at regular rates."

Which is what I have now. Comcast is pretty horrible too. They had digital migration of all their channels a few months back and wanted me to pay 7 bucks a month for a digital converter box, so the cable doesn't work without additional hardware. It doesn't affect me, just my roommate, so now he streams XD.

If I were to get internet only, it would be 10 bucks extra =\

Thanx OP, saved me 3 bucks for doing it thru chat.

I am on 16 mbps/$33.xx/month, the Chat Analyst offered me $29.99 for 6 months, will take it to save ~$20 over 6 months.

No dice for existing comcast customer in Seattle. They told me it would be $10 extra per month to upgrade from 12Mbps to 20 after only 3 months. First 3 months it would be the same price, but that's really not worth the hassle to switch or try to cancel after 3 months. The first rep shut me down right away also.

I got the deal off the phone with $24.99, 12 months, no contract, no installation fees. I am living in Daly City, CA

All I did was, ask about any special promotions going on. The rep. told me that $24.99 for 12Mbps or $29.99 for up to 20Mbps.

No more ATT DSL for me! It really suck!

I was told that if you canceled your account, there is no grace period in which the reps can't offer you a new customer promo.

For example, cancel on a Monday. Call Friday and tell them you would like to come back, then you will get the new account spiffs.

I may try this. I am concerned about how much install fees will be.

I am paying $72 for Broadband, and basic cable.

Here's what I did for At&t, YMMV as usual. Go straight to the cancel hotline, tell them you're not happy with their service since you're overpaying while new customers (your imaginary next door is paying the promo price). Usually they don't want you to cancel and will try to get you that deal. Worse case just cancel and open a new account right after. I don't think there's any installation fees since you're already setup for dsl/cable and you already have the modem. Hope that helps!

PS i might ditch At&t for this deal too,, decisions, decisions hehe

I am a Sales Rep for Comcast in Philly, Delaware and parts of Jersey. Best offers in this area on CHSI we have right now are 19.99 x 6 months 12mb down/4 up for existing cable or phone customers or $29.99 x 6 for New CHSI customers 12mb down / 4 up. The offers stated by the OP are not available in this area. Just thought I'd help save some of you the trouble if your from any one of these particular areas.

You think you have it bad? Cox is my only option too and I am paying $37/mo for 1.5mbps down and 768kbps up. I could get that for $15 per month from AT&T, but we can't get DSL here.

Yea, and that's calling lurking. Trolling is when you give us the right to come to your door and bash your face in.

When I signed up with self installation, rep told me to just call tech support when I want the service started; I had to ask about billing and the rep said it would come later, no card needed. It was... not exactly what I expected, seemed like such an "incomplete" order. Provide name, address, and then call later to start service - that's it!?

I am in Houston TX too and i am paying $29.99 for "12mbs" but I am actually getting 30mbs, 12 months rate.

The key is, you have to be a new customer and you have to have the Comcast MSO (http://www.timbercon.com/broadband-mso/) set up in your area. One way to get around that is to get the 16mbs deal and let Comcast fix/upgrade the network. After about 2 months you can quit Comcast and go to another ISP. Then after some time call Comcast to see what deal they have for you.

Every year I switch from Comcast to Earthlink (http://www.earthlink.net/) then back to Comcast as a new customer . . . .

What does the price jump to after the 12 month promotional period?

$35-40 for 12-25mpbs, depending on area. Or you pay the $25 and go back to 1.5mbps (DSL) speed.

Comcast is much faster than ATT DSL, or their Uverse, better value also when compared, BUT the problem is the bandwith cap.

Do they still have a cap of like 200GB a month? Will not cut it with all the HD streaming and what not, esp in a full household.

Exactly. I figure I'd rather torrent stuff before I need it at low rates rather than stream it and have to pay for a higher bandwidth.

I was on the same promo as well & they hiked my bill up from $19.99 last month to $34.99 alone on Internet. My cable went up by $15 bucks as well. Sucks big time!

Yep. I went back to $25 1.5mbps. They wouldn't give me any discounts. Will probably drop my cable TV for a few months and work off my Tivo/torrent backlog. Then maybe I'll get some promo rates.

If you are limited to 250GB/month, you'd be a sucker to pay for higher than 10 or so Mbit (just like buying a huge TV that looks terrible)

I'll bleed them slowly. ;) You'd think they'd be like a power company and appreciate low priority, low bandwidth usage during off hours.

$19.99 for existing customers sounds good, I'm currently paying $30/mo for the 12mb in west Philly. Really solid uptime and speed, though I had horrible times with the west Philly service center and the install guy. Anything specific I should say to get this on chat or phone?

I am in Baltimore and I hate comcast for having such a monopoly. I was paying $27 for performance internet and $39.99 for digital cable as promotional package. After 6 months I cancelled it thinking I will have my roommate start a new connection. Just an fyi for people in the Seattle area,

My promotion just expired on my account for 12mps HSI. I only have internet through Comcast--no tv or phone service. I called in and asked about lowering my newly increased bill and was told that sorry, there was nothing they could do for me and my bill will be $65 and change per month. I then told the guy that I will need to start researching the rates of other internet providers since I can't afford this. He asked me which companies I plan to look into, and I mentioned Clearwire. He then magically found a way to lower my bill to $47.69 per month for the next six months.

I don't know about this Clear thing but the problem is that in CT, we don't have a choice in our cable provider. Each area has a set provider and you have to get your cable from them. The previous town I lived in had Comcast and I liked them a lot better but unfortunately since I moved to my current town I have no choice but to be constantly disappointed.

I ordered this and got 12 MB (performance package) for 19.99 for a year, from comcast.

I called verizon to cancel, and they matched this!!!!
IMHO

Internet:
Verizon > Comcast Internet.

Cable:
Comcast > Verizon

(menu, navigation, multiroom connection without additional equipment needed for comcast),
With Verizon - I just dont like that, after paying for TV service, I need additional equipment in every room to decode basic TV channels. with com cast this is not an issue.
I own the signal, after I pay for it, and if I have a digital tuner, they should not charge me a price for every room.

I got the Performance package (I believe 12 down 2-3 up) for $29.99 for 6 months, no tv or phone. after that it's like $55.99 or $59.99 or so. The good thing about this though is that I'm not locked into any contracts, so by midway of the 5th month, I'm gonna threaten to cancel and see if I can secure any promos going on then. I'm sure there will be something then.

When they say you'll get 12 down 2-3 up, they really mean it. I went through several different speed tests and they all capped at 12.5 down and 2.5 up.

With Verizon - I just dont like that, after paying for TV service, I need additional equipment in every room to decode basic TV channels. with com cast this is not an issue.
I own the signal, after I pay for it, and if I have a digital tuner, they should not charge me a price for every room.
Comcast doesn't charge you for extra outlets after you pay for one HD box, but you *do* get charged a fee for each additional set top box per month. It's listed as a $2.95 "Addressable converter" fee on my bill for each one. They're now using the same boxes for HD or not, too, just filtering from the home office by IP/MAC address of the box.

EDIT: Just for reference, too, I pay about $95 total per month with taxes, fees, etc. for Digital Preferred, one HD-DVR, one HD-only box, one SD box and 22 Mbps internet (my own modem). The package promo was $59/mo, but DVR adds $14.95/mo, HD box is $7.95/mo and each box has a $2.95/mo addressable converter fee. The rest is taxes. and surcharges.

Comcast is only available in Northern California. They refer me to Time Warner which is similar to Comcast and offered in Southern California. I got off the phone with them, their deals/promotion suck. I've been trying to find a deal for just internet 12+mbps for $29.99 or cheaper, without installation or equipment fee. No freaking luck.

My friend works for TW. Let me give him a call then I will post. ;)

Yes it works. My friend has been doing it for few years.

How does this work? Do you cancel under one name and re-open the account under your spouses name or do you just transfer the name?

How long do you have to wait to open the account under your spouse for the same address?

Thanks!

I canceled mine yesterday.
Tried to sign up in my spouse's name today...but they said to wait till Dec 24.

Apparently their tech has to physically come to the address (on Dec 23) to complete the cancellation (even though my internet stopped working right after my call yesterday).

Router or are you talking about a cable modem so you don't have to pay the rental fee per month? You can find a list of compatible modems here: http://mydeviceinfo.comcast.net/

Personally, I'm using the Zoom 5341 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16825115054) from that list. It's sitting at $82 at Newegg right now, which is abotu what you'll pay for it at any reputable online merchant once you pay shipping. I chose that one because the Motorola SB6120 was pretty hard to find. It seems to be the most popular one that is Docsis 3.0 compatible, which is what you'll need if your area has the highest speeds available on Comcast. I've had zero issues with my Zoom, though.

The Motorola SB6120 is actually cheaper at 77.78, with a known track record compared to the relatively obscure ZOOM brand. It is the same price on NewEgg and Amazon, but on Amazon you can get free 2nd day shipping with Prime so for me that's a no-brainer. Even without Prime, Amazon has a better return policy than NewEgg in my opinion. Note I said return, not exchange. NewEgg is great but not so much if you have to return something.

Interesting. I am attempting to do the same thing. The cancellation rep stated that there would be no delay in service and that no one would have to visit my apartment for cancellation. Considering cancelling my 15 mbps and basic cable @ $45 in favor of the 20 mbps @ $29. Anyone else have experience with this? BTW I am in SJ, CA

The first csr I talked to offered me 12mpbs / $29.99 like mentioned here but then we got disconnected before the order was fully processed. So I called again and the 2nd csr offered me 12mbps / $19.99 (the rate that current customers get). It'll be set up on Tuesday and I can finally stop using my neighbors unprotected wifi. lol

just got the blast for 29.99 using chat, houston tx.

Do you already have some sort of service with Comcast?

FWIW:
For others, I am in Houston and just got off chat. I received the 12 for 19.99 a month (for 12 months). Asked about the Blast for 29 and was told that price was only good for people with some other type of service as well. Different rep may give you a better deal, just sharing what I received.
Installation was only 25 compared to the $99 a year and a half ago during another 19.99 promo I signed up for.
Now to find a better modem.

Anyone in the Chicago land area, northern Indiana or southern Michigan. I work in a comcast connection center and can get you a bunch of different promotions. 19.99 chsi performance 12 MB for 6 months, 29.99 starter with HD and HBO 6 months, dig preferred 39.99 6 months, blast chsi for 29.99 for 6 months and many others. Plus any new custimers that signs up for any triple play will get a $150 visa card. Just message me or call our store phone 215-286-9620. Some of these prices are only available for a limited time. Just give me a call and we can discuss what's available.

Worked like a charm! The rep scheduled technician to come in on 12/23 to install service for $25, but said I can call customer service in advance to check if any installation is needed if I have my own modem.

For the 12mbps Performance package, Motorola 5100/5101/5120 all work. Any reason for me to spend $40 more to get the 6120 which is D3 capable?

I agree, about the additional fee for more equipment. But, my point is if I use my own equipment, and pay for the signal - then there should no additional charge.

So, in my case - my TV's have QUAM tuners, which means I can get the basic channels for free without issues... - Comcast is the only that allows this. Verizon scrambles the signal for some reason, my TV cant seem to get the basic channels!

On a separate note, why do they prevent me from copying/taking content I DVR'd off the box. For those that argue DRM - clearly, they let you take it off for one format - VHS/Coax ouput, but anything else, like USB is disabled

I just switched to Comcast in Nov from AT&T DSL in the Chicago area. The speed is awesome, six times faster on downloads and streaming video is now instant. But I have had 3 extended outages in one month which is more than I had in 3 years with AT&T.

When I wanted to switch the Comcast, their web site or customer service had no "new customer" deals at the time. My local Best Buy has Comcast sales agents in the store who had a deal not available on the web site or by calling. So if you got a Best Buy with a Comcast guy in the TV department you may want to talk to them if looking for a deal.

No, I never had comcast before. When I plugged in my modem all the lights on the modem came on and the internet installation page popped up You can try plugging in your modem, and if all the light lights up on the modem that means your line is already hooked up. If it doesnt light up then yea, a technician will come hook it up

yea...i had comcast when i lived in south fl.... not too bad. but rr does give me consistent speeds since im a heavy power user. A municipality near here (Salibury, NC) has gone fibre-to the home and forced rr's hand in offering its customers higher speeds. what used to be 7megs down is now 10 megs. competition is good

How did u got the 9.99 basic TV 12 months.

not really sure. i did this all for my parents at their place, they were paying 18.50 for basic channels, which is just the locals. i think it goes from channel 2 to about 20 or something. anyways, when i was on the phone i asked to be transferred to a sales person and just mentioned the deal ATT had for internet, and asked if they could match or do better. the guy punched some numbers and offered me 9.99 basic tv for 12 months.

my advice would be to just play the "do you have any competitive offers" card. mention you're a loyal customer, be nice. if they dont help, mention ATT deals or transfer to the retention reps and see what they can do. if that doesnt work, just call back later and try again. :look:

Comcast is deceptive!

I called and got 15mb download for $19.95. However it doesn't work as advertised. You only get 15mb on the first 5 seconds, after that it slows to 500kb (about 1/3 of the initial speed). Sometimes, it slows to 200kb. Works okay for surfing but sucks for downloading movies and large file transfers. Fortunately I didn't disconnect my DSL, so I'm still good. ATT u-verse is coming next week to install fiber for me.

Some of the modems on Comcast's approved list are exclusive to Comcast. These are only rented out through Comcast, and not sold by them or third-party retailers. So if one hits the market, Comcast assumes it was stolen. Others who have bought Arris modems from Ebay in the past have had the same problem.

First she offered $19.99 for 6 months, then $24.99 for 12.

Some of the modems on Comcast's approved list are exclusive to Comcast. These are only rented out through Comcast, and not sold by them or third-party retailers. So if one hits the market, Comcast assumes it was stolen. Others who have bought Arris modems from Ebay in the past have had the same problem.

Yup, I got my money back since it was "stolen equipment"

Comcast is deceptive!

I called and got 15mb download for $19.95. However it doesn't work as advertised. You only get 15mb on the first 5 seconds, after that it slows to 500kb (about 1/3 of the initial speed). Sometimes, it slows to 200kb. Works okay for surfing but sucks for downloading movies and large file transfers. Fortunately I didn't disconnect my DSL, so I'm still good. ATT u-verse is coming next week to install fiber for me.

Maybe you got the PowerBoost .. Coz' your description fits with their definition for PowerBoost, but still 200kb is pretty slow..

From the wiki :

NOTE: Comcast use their PowerBoost speed as their advertising speed. For example, The "Perfomance 12Mbps" will get up to 12Mbps with PowerBoost (only the first 20 MB) and up to 8Mbps without PowerBoost (after the first 20MB).

Great, I have Verizon dsl in Northern NJ, no fios here for now, only two great choices for internet (verizon or Comcast hsi) I called first, but no luck they offered me the $19.99 for 6 months only, I tried again via chat twice no luck there either.

waited 2 days, tried today via chat and got Comcast Internet 12Mbps/$24.99/Month for 12 months ($50 installtion fee) . I'm so thirsty for speed I took it even if I don't know If I'm saving or no. probably I will drop my home phone for ooma too, to make up the saving.

Thanks for posting

Just got Ultra! 22mbps / 5mpbs with PowerBoost (not sure what's the number with PB) for $29.95 for 12months with $15 installation fee. $5 modem fee, they told me I would need a DOCSIS 3.0 modem which I don't have.

Did you guys have to also get cable tv or other type of service? I was given $29.99 for Blast Internet, but was also told I must keep my basic cable for $11/month. Price locked in for 12 months. Don't really want to pay for cable tv and would just be happy w/ the internet service.

Chatted and called several times. The best they could do was $39.99 per month for 6 months. Internet only existing customer. South bay area, CA.
Rep also mentioned that she saw that I had already called her several times. I guess they notate in your acct every time you call. I will probably switch to the iSpot from Clear soon. (you can hack it to work with all devices)

Yeah I am on the highest one offered. Wish I paid 57 and still got 61 down. It's insane downloading at 8mg's a sec still playing games with no lag. I know you can use the SB and get 100+ in certain area's at no extra cost but that requires you to hack it and requires lots of reading and I am pretty sure is 100% illegal.

If you do your method described above, you won't even have to pay comcast at all :)

Existing Comcast customer in Bay Area, CA - got the following. Called 800-934-6489, option 4 for downgrade/cancellation...just talked nicely and he gave the following.

24.99 + 12$ for Basic TV for 6 months
29.99 + 17$ for Basic TV after 6 months

CSR said can't give more than 6 months deal for existing customers...system is not allowing that. Anyway whatever saved was ok...my current bill was 50+tax for the same service right now (there were some promotions already there, but not as good).

I already have the cable modem - so no installation or equipment fees.
I am in San Jose, California. Please let others know if this works in your areas too.

Ps: I'm new to posting@SD, but 150+ comments and just 1 TU :( A lot of people did get in this deal - please TU if this worked for you.

It takes some time for your reps to get posted. Now I see u have 77+ reps! happy? :)

Worked in Denver, CO!

$29.99/month for Blast, 12 months locked price, no contract, no install fee

--- these fools tried repeatedly for me to give them a drivers license number and/or social security number FYI you DO NOT need to provide this to them especially if you have your own modem and will not be leasing one of theirs
--- Denver Metro is on the DOCSIS 3 standard for what it's worth

Thanks & repped!

I got the 12mb/$24.99 for 12 months through comcast chat, I'm in SF. I used speedtest to measure my connection and I'm getting about 20mb down, upload varies from 3-3.5mb. Is the higher reported speeds because of Powerboost, ie. it's only that fast for the first few MBs?

I need to know my true bandwidth maximum as I'm setting up the QOS in my router.

In San Francisco as well, I went through Live Chat and was offered Performance for $29.99 for 6/mo. I politely declined and told them about Sonic.net's $39.95/mo 20 Mbps DSL with phone service. The sales rep gave me Performance for $24.95/mo for 12 mo.

We're in an upgraded area so I'm getting about 21/3 (Speedboost). 12.75 mbit no speedbost.

Got in on this in the Bay Area, CA.

I don't know where the cable TV inlet into my house is, nor is there a wall jack to support it.

Good news is that I'm paying the $25 installation fee, so all the hard work will be done by the technician. Still, I can't help but feel a little bad. Do the Comcast installation guys do things like track down the cable line, run wire, and install a cable TV coax wall socket?

The installation date was so quick, I bought the Motorola SB6120 (DOCSIS 3, hope it helps! ... any tips?) with overnight shipping so that it's ready for the technician.

Yes they do it all, even if you had your own wiring, the tech might complain since it's not their wiring, the tech that visited me did. It's best to leave it to them.

Just upgraded to the "Performance Promo" from "Economy". The promo for me was right on the website: comcast.com/highspeedinternet , I could've ordered via the interface but the page loads kept failing so I did it via chat. Unless it varies by region, ours is 250gb, which unless you're a torrent fiend; I don't see how you can easily exceed it.

Probably late with this response but my gf also got this deal, 29.99 for blast for 12 months, and she does not have cable tv or any other service. If you really don't want to pay for tv the easier route is to cancel your tv anyway, then call and set up after. Don't hold me to it though, as I'm just guessing.

Be aware that it's not a hard cap...supposedly there's a lot of variables involved as to determining if you'll get your hand slapped if you go over it.

I moved to a new place yesterday and they offered me Internet + Basic Cable for 50$.
Speed 20 Mbps. I used to pay 58$ (with tax) in my old apartment. Rate locked for one year, 60$ thereafter. Essentially bundling TV saved me about 8$.

Up in Renton, WA

I'm going to try to get this deal though. Don't really care for TV anyway. Hulu and Netflix all the way.

Existing customer here...
current rate recently changed to $59.99/month for Performance HSI. Used the live chat, eventually mentioned the Sonic.net deal, and instantly they "found" a $29.99/month for 6 months deal for Performance.
Even if I don't change it after 6 months, that will still save me ~$180!

Also, they said Performance speed was supposed to be 12 Mbps down, 2 Mbps up, but speedtest.net results show about 25 Mbps down, 3 Mbps up at my house.

edit: I'm located in the Berkeley / Richmond area in the SF Bay region.

It just goes to show you.. I called regular Comcast's phone number earlier today and was told that they could not offer me that deal AND that I would need basic cable otherwise would have to pay $54.99 or somethin like that.

Hi everyone. Just a bit of info to pass onto you:

I used to work for these shitbirds at Comcast. Be careful with their wordings. If they tell you can "renegotiate" after the 12 months without a problem, they are outright lying. After 12 months, the price goes up and they do nothing for you. Cancelling the service, and then re-installing usually wont work either, as you arent "allowed" to get a promotional rate for 6 months after you cancel.

Im not saying its impossible to successfully play the game, but cover your ass and pay close attention, because its easy for these people to pull one over on you, especially with internet, because the service isnt as expendable as cable tv. Also, as far as getting special deals, if you KNOW someone else was able to get it, and they are giving you a hard time, ask for their superiors. Most of the time, theyll put you on hold, then come back with a deal they just "found", same as the guy mentioned above.
