Sometime in the middle of today my hip joint started really farking hurting.

It hurts to stretch it, it hurts walk, put weight on it, etc. Range of motion sucks too.

I have not been running for 6 weeks because I'm healing up my Achilles tendinitis....so its not from overuse.

I just find it really weird that it happened so suddenly and the pain in incredible.

Wot's wrong with me? :whee:

Obligatory: It's a tumor.

You might have a trapped nerve. Is the pain isolated in the hip joint or does the pain radiate down your leg?

No. It's lupus.

We need pics of the affected area, so that we can better diagnose. :P Zoe is probably right, try a heating pad and some Tylenol, or another mild pain reliever.

Is it your right hip? Intestinal upset can cause right hip pain. You could be constipated or gas or getting sick.

Is it your IT band? Are you a runner?

Oh oh! I've had that before! My mom told me the name of it but I forget. I used a heating pad and Excedrin and it wasn't completely better the next day but it was mostly better.

ice. just ice. ice does crazy wonders. people don't give ice the respect it deserves.I agree. A few weeks ago I fell hard on my knee on some tile. It was so swollen I couldn't straighten it. I put ice on it several times and by the next day it was almost completely better.

A few years ago when we had the power outage for I believe 3 weeks. I was walking outside and slipped and landed right on my knee. That sucked, I couldn't bend my knee for weeks. And even then I was scared to.

Hip Pain is tough to diagnose. Arthritis is the most frequent cause of hip pain, fortunately there are many treatments available

Check out some internet websites:

http://www.ehow.com/how_5542275_diagnose-hip-pain.html

If there is any chance it is not located exactly in the hip -- be careful, if it is a blood clot and moves, that would be very bad news.

But we really do need a pic of the affected area to properly diagnose what the midgets have done to you. :photo:

 that's what she said too:

Thirty-three-year old Maame Abena Kwakyewaa, a native of Akim Pameng near Kwabeng in the Eastern Region, who was said to have been missing, was spotted at a cemetery after having reportedly spent 21 days with her captors – dwarfs.

The woman was said to have been found speechless and could not be moved by anybody until one Nana K, a fetish priest at Koforidua, the Eastern Regional capital, was called to perform some rituals.

According to her husband, Yaw Aboagye, who confirmed the incidents of his wife’s disappearance and reappearance, the said towards the end of November this year, when he returned home around 9:00am from a journey, he found the door to his room still locked, implying that his wife was still asleep.

To his utter surprise, when he tried opening the door, he realised it was firmly shut and had to apply maximum force to break it open.

Yaw Aboagye continued that his wife was not in the room but rather found her beads, underwear, mashed yam (eto), three eggs and three fresh leaves with perfumed powder. The powder, he said, had been sprinkled everywhere in the room. According to him, the chief and elders of the village were informed about eh incident and it was later that various mediums were consulted.

It them came to light that dwarfs had taken the woman into the spirit would.

He claimed he was so happy to have seen his wife again, especially realizing the unique powers given her by the dwarfs to cure all kinds of diseases, adding that on December, 23 a grand durbar to outdoor his wife saw the woman conjuring mobile phones, clothes, watches and other items to the crowd that went to catch a glimpse of the resurfaced woman, having been dressed like a fetish priestess.

Recounting her personal contact with the dwarfs and the kind of treatment she went through, Maame Abena Kwakyewaa said the place she was sent to, had no semblance of day and night as there was always day light saying, “You could see human beings in the physical world going about their normal lives form where the dwarfs live.”

She said she was pampered and given any thing she wanted to eat, including corned beef, milk, banana and other delicacies, adding that there was always merry making among the dwarfs.

According to her, the dwarfs bathed her in a river without seeing herself wet and that it was after about 21 days when they realized that she was nearing her menstrual period – that her hosts brought her back to her village, after forbidding her form having sexual intercourse for two years.

When Kwakyewaa’s husband was asked by this reporter to comment on the two-year sexual ban, he said he could not stay that long without having any affair with her wife and had therefore pleaded with the dwarfs through some fetish priests, and the period for the ban had been reduced to eight months.

Sciatica, most likely, and ice and heat will help it, normally it will run down the leg though and you will find pain there as well if it is in the hip - as it hurts like a MF'er - I've had this since my early 20's and it's a PITA literally, pun intended :D

You are old and also, you have Bubonic Plague.

Just out of curiosity (even though I've already diagnosed you), did you plant your foot and turn in a different direction, recently?

Like maybe while moving something heavy? (A box...) Or, while swinging at something? (Like a softball...) Or, maybe while doing Yoga?

Sounds like something I did to my acetabulofemoral (the ball and socket where your hip joins your leg to your body) joint. You can also do it during sex (happens often to women).

Prescription is Ibuprofen, rest, and alternate heat and ice. Some glucosamine and chondroitin wouldn't hurt.

If that doesn't help, impingement could also be the diagnosis:

Read up on it and see what you think.
