My son has been saving up his money from shoveling snow and wants Fifa soccer.
If he gets 10 I told him he'll have a little money left and could maybe find another cheap used game at Gamestop. If he wants 11 he needs to wait for another snow to make a little more money. Is 11 worth the wait for more money?
We've been researching and can't seem to figure out which is better. We have none of the other EA sports games

I believe there are a couple guys that play FIFA here so hopefully they'll see your thread. Unfortunately I'm not at all familiar with it.

I don't know if those guys play it on wii though. I don't even know how that would work..
OP Are there other chores your son could do for a little cash? Maybe clean out the inside of your car? (full on detail not just tidy!)

True dat. I'm not sure how that would work on the Wii either. Hadn't thought about the variance in consoles.

It is personal preference with all EA games.
PERSONALLY, I would have him look at the World Cup 2010...I doubt he is into the Premier league or anything like that...so FIFA WC2010 was a game released after FIFA2010 but before FIFA2011...and mostly features the Country teams...it would be something he can relate to a lot more because he would know countries and be able to associate with them better.
In the end though, whatever EA game he gets will be out dated in less then a year...I have never bought a new EA Sport game for that reason, they drop 50% in price within 6 months...so I always go with the older version, especially in a game where he won't be following it daily and know that "This guy isn't on this team anymore!!!"
(However there are some people, like Skeeza, who do appreciate the newest game for the updated rosters)

skeeza's black, he don't care about futbol.
i'd get the latest but im a premiership follower.
if just a soccer game, get Fifa 10.
I just looked around at reviews. Both FIFA 2010 and 2011 have poor reviews for Wii. They aren't nearly as good as the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game. It actually looks like FIFA 2009 is the best FIFA game for Wii. However, you may want to consider Pro Evolution Soccer instead. It has much better reviews than FIFA for Wii.

Fifa 10 has a metacritic score of 75, and 11 a 73 for the Wii. Those aren't that bad. They're not as good as the HD consoles, but I wouldn't qualify the game as poor based on those scores.
OP, I'd suggest you just get 10 for now since the differences from one year to the other probably aren't enough to justify the much higher price for your kid, and based on the overall scores for 11 they probably didn't improve much if anything.
Fifa 10 is only $18.50 at Amazon btw: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002BCOBDC?tag=epizenternet-20&camp=213381&creative=390973&linkCode=as4&creativeASIN=B002BCOBDC&adid=1K42ZMFYJ57N9C7J3NXT&tag=epizenternet-20

Thanks all. Yeah he really wants a xbox 360 but that isn't going to happen. How many consoles does a house need? Probably not the place to ask that. I'll have him look at the other soccer game mentioned.
He's a huge Chelsea fan (is that Premier League?)
By the way he just turned 12 and plays soccer year round so he's pretty up on teams.
I appreciate all the input.:worship:
yeah chelsea is premier league (they losing to my United though this season) :D

Chelsea is in the Premier league and he keeps up on all the leagues then you should get him FIFA11. I agree with the above poster you should let him take out the trash or something to earn him the few extra bucks to get the better verson but remember fifa12 will be coming out in the summer July, Aug

Alright, in case anyone cares he has decided he wants Fifa 11. We agreed on some chores he needs to do WITHOUT being asked for the next 3 weeks. He has $35 so the chores for $5 per wk to make up the difference.
My younger son wants Mario Kart for his DS and he has $35 to buy that.
I'm going to pool their money take it to Best Buy for their B2G1 free offer this week. I, while not a big gamer still occasionally play on my old super nintendo Donkey Kong and Super Mario. I've been wanting one of these for the wii for a year. I'll kick in the extra $30 to buy the 2 $50 games and I'll still get chores done.
That, for a Mom is a slickdeal.

If you don't mind used, you can get many great deals at GoHastings.com. For instance you can get Mario Kart DS for $17 shipped there with the coupon USED2DAY (ends today I think)

I've bought probably over 30 games from them so far and they've been in excellent condition. Your kid won't really care whether it's used or not, and since it's a DS game, ir'ts pretty much guranteed to work. Plus he could put the savings towards an extra game
They also have Fifa 11 for $30: http://www.gohastings.com/product/GAME/FIFA-Soccer-11/sku/280759944.uts
