ENJOY!

Wow, it's $55.99 before the $5 coupon. I do show it available for me to clip, but $50.99 for the new Tron, and the old Tron isn't worth it imo. OUCH!

The coupon does make this version "Tron: Legacy (Four-Disc Combo Blu-ray 3D / Blu-ray / DVD / Digital Copy" only $29.99 with free super-saver shipping if you don't have prime.

If you want the original version also & don't want to pay the current sky high prices on Amazon, guess there is always ebay, craigs or your local thrift stores.

The price isn't that fantastic at this point but could drop before the movie is released but Amazon.com are offer a $5 coupon if you pre-order the following:

Tron: Legacy (Four-Disc Combo: Blu-ray 3D / Blu-ray / DVD / Digital Copy) (http://www.amazon.com/Tron-Legacy-Four-Disc-Blu-ray-Digital/dp/B004K4IZ54/ref=sr_1_1?s=dvd&ie=UTF8&qid=1296914734&sr=1-1) for $34.99 making the new price $29.99.

or the Tron: Legacy (Five-Disc Combo Blu-ray 3D / Blu-ray / DVD / Digital Copy + Tron: The Original Classic Special Edition Blu-ray) (http://www.amazon.com/Tron-Five-Disc-Blu-ray-Digital-Original/dp/B004K4N64E/ref=sr_1_3?s=dvd&ie=UTF8&qid=1296914734&sr=1-3) for $55.99 making the new price $49.99

I'm guessing Disney will have a coupon nearer the time but I'm not sure how much...$8 or $10 maybe? Amazon doesn't usually have their coupons up for an unlimited amount of time (They didn't with Bambi) so you could clip the coupon and pre-order with the option of canceling if a better deal comes up before release date.

Also, Get $5 worth of eligible movies and TV shows from Amazon Video On Demand after you order your item. Limited to one promotional credit per customer.

I have to imagine the 4 disc version comes with at least 200 Disney Movie Rewards points (my other 3D movies had that many) and the 5 Disc will have at least 250 DMR points (Fantasia came with that many)

You can also now pre-order the Classic Tron 1982 (http://www.amazon.com/Tron-Original-Classic-Two-Disc-Blu-ray/dp/B004KPLVW2/ref=sr_1_2?s=dvd&ie=UTF8&qid=1296915690&sr=1-2) movie on Blu-ray for $27.99 but no coupon is showing up for that and it's included in the 5 disc Combo with Tron Legacy anyhow.

Looks like it will be release April 5, 2011 so plenty of time for the price to come down a little and with Amazon's Pre-Order price guarantee, you get the best price between now and release date and can cancel at any time before then. For those who got the either free or half price Amazon.com gift cards with the Living Social deal....this might be something you want to spend them on?

Yeah, I was disappointed as well. Homeless programs? why are they eating? ISOs (like CD images?) Why do these programs have day jobs? Are these even programs? Hey, what happened to the nifty computer names like Ram, Tron, etc. NOT Rinzler, Quorra, Gem. Also where is the nerd talk about I/O ports, memory, and such?

Anyway, my nerd DNA found a way to love the movie. Heh.

I agree the price isn't great....but from my experience of most Disney movies is that they don't drop very low. I know the original cartoon movies have held their price and this isn't one of them, but I do see the price holding for a while at least.

Yeah the 3D version is not even worth it. Only a few parts of the movie were converted to 3D, and there is a huge note at the beginning that says the whole movie is not in 3D, but keep your glasses on anyway. There is no way I would pay $30 for this movie, and I'm not good at reselling things so it really is not that good of a deal for me at least. Other than that I thought the movie was just ok, but it was a huge let down.

That's Disney marketing lately. They start promoting their Blu-ray/DVD releases just over a month after they've been out in theaters. However, this Blu-ray/DVD is coming out April 5th.

They're trying to "beat the pirates" by whoring out their expensive DVD sets. I read an article where some MPAA numbnut said that promoting their hard copy early reduced the number of people who pirate it.

Makes no sense and I doubt there's any actually research behind the statement. It's sort of like a father postulating how awesome his daughter's sexual wares will be once they're married; completing forgetting that the kid can probably taste those wares long before marriage.

You need to be logged into Amazon to see it. The coupon should show up under the product image at the top of the page.

I have known about this $5 coupon a few days ago, but, even then, I don't see it, for any version of the Blu-ray, even if I am logged in. Besides, I'm not sure I am willing to pay $50 ($55 in my case since I don't see the $5 coupon) for the 5-disc set, especially when Amazon has the other promotion where if you buy the standard 2-disc TRON: Legacy for $28 and the 2-disc TRON (classic) for $28, Blu-rays, of course, you get an additional $8 off for a total of $48. But, I will admit, for $2 (or $7) more, I get the 3D version (not that I can use it right now) and the digital copy if I buy the 5-disc set versus buying the 2-disc sets separately.

Let's assume each individual Blu-ray (TRON: Legacy and TRON) both sell for $30 at the B&M's. Let us further assume that the 5-disc set will sell for $50. There is a very good chance that Disney will have a coupon either for each Blu-ray (one being an upgrade coupon for TRON) or for the 5-disc set. The coupon(s) can be worth $8 to $10. Even for the 5-disc set, I can presumably get it for $42, maybe $40, at best. Then there is the possibility that it will be further marked down on release week. Regardless, I have never kept a Disney pre-order on Amazon - I mean, the only good that comes out of this is that you might get it a day or two earlier than the public.

But I'm diverging. The point of this post is to state that, no matter what I do (log in, pick a different Blu-ray version, checkout), I simply cannot see the $5 coupon on Amazon.

madcat0910

YMMV since it says, "if you qualify for the Disney coupon"

This is the only line I don't get - what does it mean "if you qualify for the Disney coupon"? Do you need to be a long time member? I've been a buyer for too many of my years! Do you need to sell on their Marketplace? I have a 200+ record. Do you need to be member of Disney Movie Rewards? That I am. So what qualifies one for the $5 coupon? Despite logging into Amazon, selecting different versions of the Blu-ray, I still don't see the $5 coupon.

Yeah lack of HD-DVD is a dealbreaker.

At least they're releasing all the various editions at once instead of starting with a no frills version and adding new features to future versions. Wait a sec, there's no director's cut in there!

Imo, I'm future-proofing my Blu-rays by getting the 3D versions while I can. Unlike a lot of people, I actually enjoy 3D and I don't get headaches from them. I don't own a 3DTV atm, but I plan to in the future, when, hopefully they have 3DTVs that don't require glasses, so the combo pack does add some value for me.

Also, thanks for the information on the 2D versions for $48. I credited you in the OP. Also, I don't know why it doesn't show a $5.00 off coupon for you. The only reason it doesn't show for me, is because I've used mine already. And for the other two versions I didn't get, it still shows the coupons.

I only searched Hot Deals for 'Tron Legacy' which is why it didn't show up and why I posted in the first place. They'll probably merge your thread too. Not sure why they want it in Deal Talk when it's not dead. Here's the original Thread (http://slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?t=2635899)

Perhaps it's in Deal talk because they don't think $5 off is a good enough of a deal. Better than anything else out there right now though.

Thank you! I was going nuts trying to figure out where your thread went... I knew I had seen this yesterday...

Yeah, it's bizarre. I didn't even think to search Deal Talk and just searched here. So when I didn't see anything, I got busy with posting the thread, only to find it was moved and merged. If it wasn't for the fact I'd subscribed, I'd have lost it myself :D

Same here, thanks to SD I have never paid more than 10 bucks for any Blu-ray. Even with the 3D, $48 for basically 2 movies? Not even close to a slickdeal.

Great fun movie - they did an awesome job of honoring the original and providing continuity.

But I also get the feeling that this set will go bargain bin b/c it's sci-fi and america hates sci-fi =P

Or perhaps Americans love sci-fi but just hate storylines with nothing to them that are carried by the "oooo pretty picture" fad? Seriously, I watched this movie in theaters and it was really lovely as far as the imagery but the story seemed like somebody took a bare-bones synopsis of what the story SHOULD have been and just used that instead.

And I love sci fi/supernatural stuff, but look to books and those folks across the pond for it because Americans trying to do sci-fi fail hardcore.

(PS - yes, yes, I know -- HALFWAY a threadcrap here. But still mostly just a post explaining that perhaps Americans do like sci-fi but don't like low-quality sci-fi)

How is 48 bucks for a movie a slickdeal? It doesn't matter if they come with 8 different discs/formats for the same movie........ its still 48 bucks. So how is that a slickdeal?

It is the same basic story as the last one if you break it down into the simplest manner possible....

Well...it definitely isn't a hot deal....which is why my original post is in Deal Talk and not Hot Deals. I just wanted people to see the cover art, release date, etc. Of course....die hards might be all over it.

Is anyone else able to apply this coupon and get $5 off any blu ray movie on Amazon? For some reason, regardless of the blu ray movie I select now, I am given $5 off. Anyone else able to replicate this?

My friend told me about the 5 disc Tron Legacy limited edition identity disc that included the original Tron on blu ray set that amazon currently has for preorder. I decided to order it today and found there was a $5 coupon on the product page.

Coupon doesn't show until you're at checkout. Of course both qualify for free Super Saver shipping as well as Amazon Prime shipping.

Only the 4 and 5 disc sets qualify for the $5 off.

Tron: Legacy (Four-Disc Combo: Blu-ray 3D / Blu-ray / DVD / Digital Copy) (http://www.amazon.com/Tron-Legacy-Four-Disc-Blu-ray-Digital/dp/B004K4IZ54/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1297112350&sr=8-7) $34.99 - $5 coupon = 29.99 + Free Shipping

Tron: Legacy (Five-Disc Combo Blu-ray 3D / Blu-ray / DVD / Digital Copy + Tron: The Original Classic Special Edition Blu-ray) (http://www.amazon.com/Tron-Five-Disc-Blu-ray-Digital-Original/dp/B004K4N64E/ref=sr_1_1?s=dvd&ie=UTF8&qid=1297113264&sr=1-1) $55.99 - $5 coupon = $50.99 + Free Shipping

Identity Disc Version - Tron: Legacy Limited Edition (Five-Disc Combo Blu-ray 3D / Blu-ray / DVD / Digital Copy + Tron: The Original Classic Special Edition Blu-ray) (http://www.amazon.com/Tron-Limited-Five-Disc-Blu-ray-Original/dp/B004KZPABK/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1297112350&sr=8-2) $69.99 - $5 coupon = $64.99 + Free Shipping

NOTE: Only the 5 disc sets comes with both the new sequel film and the ORIGINAL Tron (1982) on Blu Ray. The 4 disc set only includes the newer Tron Legacy (2010) film.

Wow $50! I hate how Disney gouges on their movies... I might preorder just in case (since I can cancel), but I'm guessing someone will have a better deal when it actually comes out.

For both the original and Tron Legacy. Its not too bad considering both are listed on amazon for $28 each and this one includes a 3D copy as well. That might come in handy in a couple years. Maybe...

Of course these include the preorder price guarantee. So if they drop you'll get the lower price and still get to use the $5 coupon.

No, didn't work for me. Just tried to apply $5 from a promotional credit I have.

Does it actually say 'Your Coupon Savings - $5' or did it say 'Promotion Applied - $5' ?

It's a bit much, even for 2 movies. I'm used to paying $15 or so bucks for BDs now, so $30 would have been no problem. $50 is stretching it a bit, IMO.

For those of you who want to get the Tron:Legacy movie you can get $5 off all three different versions until Feb 10th at Amazon. With Amazon's Pre Order guarantee it could be even cheaper once movie releases. The $5 off coupon button is just below What is Digital Copy explanation and you must be logged into your Amazon account to see the button.

The problem is the first thread is in Deal Talk....and most people search the actual Hot Deals forum, which is what I did, and I'm sure everyone else since then has done. If the mods move this to Hot Deals then I doubt duplicate threads will keep popping up.

And if you want to pony up another $15, you can get it in special Identity Disk (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B004KZPABK/panandscathed-20) packaging.

I already have the original movie anniversary edition DVD. I don't see much reason to get it in Blu-Ray

It would have to be a hot deal to be posted in hot deals....which is isn't.

And when everyone says "search before you post" they most likely mean make sure it isn't posted in any of the forums..not just one.

The price dropped before release so with Amazon's Pre-Order Price Guarantee, you get the lowest price less your $5 coupon too. :)

Well, for those keeping track, sometime last month, Amazon.com dropped the price on the 5-disc combo set, which, as we all should know by now, includes TRON: Legacy & TRON: The Original Classic, to $49.99. If you had pre-ordered this set, or any other 3D set, in December 2010 when they had the $5 off coupon, your total will come down to $44.99. Regardless, you can opt for free shipping. As far as I can tell, this is the best price for both movies on Blu-ray. That's $22.50 plus tax each.

But I won't be surprised if the price falls below $40, maybe $35, which may be wishful thinking, at B&M's during release week. Then there is the, now confirmed, $5 coupon from Disney - it's not much, but it is better than nothing.

Target will be selling them separately, but with a discount when bought together. I can't remember individual prices, but together it is $37. If the $5 coupon works too (debate about whether it will or not), it will be $32 for both on BD. The Legacy is the 4 disc BD version, and the original is the 2 disc BD version. I've already cancelled my Amazon pre-order, so I hope this is right. (search for the Tron Target thread to find out more info)

Even if Target does not allow us to combine their in-store $8 promotion with the Disney $5 coupon, at $37 plus tax for both movies, less the 3D version of TRON: Legacy, that IS a much better deal than Amazon if you are looking to own both movies. Thanks deusx for bringing this forward on this thread.

It's an in-store automatic promotion. You take any version of both movies, TRON: Legacy and TRON: The Original Classic, not the 5-disc combo set that includes both movies, to the register, and the $8 is taken off automatically.

Don't rep me too soon. No way to know for sure how this is all going to go down until next Tuesday. For all we know, even if the ad doesn't say so, corporate can advise all stores that the $8 promotion is only good for Blu-ray purchases only, and/or they can further restrict the promotion to the 4-disc version of TRON: Legacy. The only thing that is known is that Target does have a promotion that will automatically deduct $8 off the receipt if you buy both TRON: Legacy and TRON: The Original Classic. In another thread, people are saying any version of either movies will do. I, personally, will be going for the Blu-rays, especially the 4-disc version of TRON: Legacy, so, for me, I do not forsee any problems. If your preferences leans towards the DVDs or you prefer the 2-disc version of TRON: Legacy, I hope it will work out for you as well.

I want to rep because you took the time to answer my question!

I plan on getting the 4 Disc 3D version. I've been trying to 'Future proof' our DVD collection and buying 3D combo packs when they're available. Might be a little while until we can upgrade to a 3D system (spent out big on a full media system 2 years ago when we moved to the US so can't really upgrade just yet). We NEVER watch our DVDs and we have well over 500 of them. Once you see blu-ray quality, it's hard to go back (plus half of them are Region 2 and so only play on our Japanese xbox so doesn't seen to upconvert as well).

Thanks again for your help! :)
