Do you save locally as well? Or just to dropbox? If you save locally, how to you make it so you have the most updated version on dropbox and locally?

Isn't dropbox really just a web-enabled transfer service? It's rather like "synchronizing" a LOCAL folder on 2 or more PC's. The files are ALWAYS local (after they're transferred, that is).

For my school files, I have a symbolic link from dropbox to their actual directory on my computer. They stay sync'd, while not actually having to reside in the Dropbox folder.

In any case, as Dr. J said, they're always gonna be on your computer unless you've deleted it and are trying to recover it from the web interface.

as far as i know you are saving locally (on a pc to my documents>my dropbox and on a mac to your home folder)...dropbox will automatically keep your files in sync with any other computers you have it installed on.
