On other freebie boards, sites that are always free that happen to have recipes are considered a freebie and are usually moved to or originally posted in a separate recipe Forum where users can also post their own recipes.

Should we have something like that?

I'm one of those people who see postings of links to sites with recipes as junk but I may be in the minoroty. To me a manufacturer who has a page with a few or a few hundred recipes on it is n ice but not a freebie unless they normally charge for access and are now letting you have it for free with a code or for a limited time.

I enjoy online recipes but I just don't see them as 'freebies.' Having a separate forum for them would be nice and I might even visit it a few times a day.

we have the official recipe thread in the lounge... IMO that's fine for it..

Not to mention, FoodNetwork.com is free.

Actually I prefer Epicurious.com to the foodnetwork site but Kel be has apoint - anybody who can use a search Engine can find all the recipes they want online. I just dont see why ten or twenty of those things a day sometimes get posted in Freebies. It comes and goes. I guess when new offers are scarce, we dig the bottom of the barrel. Other sites segregate the recipes out of freebies - just a suggestion. Clearly this is not a burning issue! (unless you're burning your dinner I suppose...)

I find alot of homemade substitutes or solutions for name brand products. (cleaners & household helpers) I also like to cook. Is there anywhere for me to share these in the forums?
Thanks :)

I personally think they should be a Sub-forum of the lounge if that is where they are listed. I've been a member for over a year and all I ever see is misc posts. Nothing concrete, so it makes it hard to find them. I personally bite at using the search function.

I personally bite at using the search function.
for the cookbook thread, I searched just in the lounge and typed recipe. It was the fourth thread that came up in the search.

While searching in the lounge under the same search term (recipe) I also found *SD Official Drink Recipes* (http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?sduid=70647&t=252147)

I think rayzac99 (http://forums.slickdeals.net/member.php?u=5258)'s siggy is helpful too for searching

Tips to perform an effective search to avoid reposting:

Search for the model number of an item, not just the name
If you have a coupon or promo code, search using just the code
Search the store name
Use a wild card. Instead of just iPod, try *Pod

As for your homemade substitutes, I could not find anything. Maybe you could be the one to start the official thread for it in the lounge? :)
