I was in Sam's today and saw that they price match any Optical dispenser in the U.S. including websites. I got my order price matched to CoastalContacts.com
According the optical manager:
All Sam's Clubs are required to price-match any US licensed vendor
If any store denies a pricematch simply ask for their home office number and call the manager
A scan of the price match policy will be posted here by wednesday.
Price-match includes Contacts and Glasses. The benefit to pricematch is that Sam's has most manufacturer rebates applied at the time of purchase (only during checkout) so you can price-match and get the rebate right there. Plus you can use your vision insurance too!
What you should take with you:
Prescription
Insurance Cards if any
Print out of the cart of any website with coupon applied and final price showing.
Also if you are not a Sam's Member:
Just go to the optical counter they hand out FREE one day shopping passes with any order so you don't even need to sign up for a membership.
Benefits:
1 year warranty and Accidental handling damage coverage
1 year return on contact lenses (un opened boxes)
90 day Doctor's correction or any-reason return for glasses.
Enjoy!

Do they price-match to Websites like EyeBuyDirect aand Goggles4u?
If they do, then this would be a smoking hot deal.

Any US licensed vendor. so I ordered my contacts through coastalcontacts and had gotten them to price-match webeyestore which is like eyebuydirect so i took the order with me, and the optician price matched the Coastal contact price (105% price match guarantee to Webeyestore).
Enjoy!

interesting. did know sam's would be earning enough if they had to literally "ship" everything to their stores. profits go down...right?

How do they price match glasses? Frame prices vary, lens manufacturers and models also vary. What are the chances that the other retailed will have the same frame and same lens?

walmart and costco too
I fail to see how this is a deal except for the odd contact lens order. Most eyewear slickdeals are a combination of coupons and not paying tax as you order online. PM to sams will have tax and they'll hassle coupon prices.
US = most sites won't get matched
licensed = most sites don't even confirm prescriptions.

actually they do. coastalcontacts, visiondirect, 1800contacts etc all require verifications. Any contact lens is regulated by FDA so even sites like webeyestore need a prescription before they ship. The way they price match or the way they did for me, was price match the final price after coupons and everything else. most sites charge a big "handling" charge, sams doesn't take this into account making a whole lot of sweeter deal. also the way they match glasses is you can get lets say a nikon 1.67 polycarb lens for $80 at vision direct but sams charges 130 for the same thing you will get the lens at $80 frames are supply your own, use your own insurance etc. my insurance pays at sams but not at websites.

they will match the lens cost. and most big online retailers have frames that sams has too. for example nikon or oakley frames they will be matched along with the lens "glass" cost. so a ziess lens might be $50 at sams and $20 at visiondirect so on so forth. Most online retailers have "photocrome, antiglare, scractch" coastings for about $10 sams price is $35 but they will match that too.

in general bulk shopping stores do really well here...costco also has one of the top sellling stores...its probably due to these conditions
1. sales are high because due to high cost of living people need to buy bulk
2. larger extended families living together due to high real estate cost
3. since all the other products at other stores are high(due to shipping cost) bulk shopping stores can sell their products cheaper then the norm

Checked yesterday at a Sams club in Charlotte, NC. They said no price match - not even with other local vendors like Lenscrafters, JC Penney Opticals, Visionworks.

OP never posted policy like promised.
This is a big YMMV.
My Sam's won't do this as a policy. Maybe on case-by-case basis they will make an adjustment, per manager. They claim this is the case throughout SoCal.
But who needs that hassle of having to haggle with them. Easier just to deal with online store that's offering lowest price.
