It seems like more threads are being turned to chat lately. Why?

The purpose of the Chat threads is to keep a certain amount of post whoring to a minimum, or at least to help differentiate between users with high post counts who are active in other areas of the forums vs. just the Lounge. I'll not get into the merits of that in this thread, as it has already been hashed out many, many times in the past.
To answer you question, once a thread has been changed to 'Chat', all posts in that thread no longer count toward post count. Often, this only happens when the thread turns to post whoring anyway. As mods, we are not going to start going through threads and figuring out which post is a post whoring post, and which is not. Once a thread crosses the line, *poof*, all posts are now post whoring posts in that thread.
like raddish said, thread starts out with good intentions. if it becomes off topic, or there's just "chatty" posts it gets chatted.
most threads that are changed into chat happen after we notice they've gone into post whoring. it sort of defeats the purpose of chatting them if the count isn't removed from the thread.

Sorry, I should have reworded my question. I know why Mods turn threads to chat threads but there’s been more threads lately, turning to chat threads.

I don't know the answer, but I am guessing either more PWing is going on or more threads are getting chatty in general, or there are stricter standards now in regards to keeping a thread in the lounge nonchat.

I have noticed this, too. I recently had two thread that I needed help in, had the label as help, but got changed to chat before anyone replied. Thats taking your mod powers a little too far.

I would say because members are not classifying them correctly. Let me think of an example....Since when it is *news* that you weren't wearing a shirt as you posted? I've seen threads with the *food* icon with no mention of food in the thread...I agree with what the other mods have posted. To be fair, I've also changed icons when appropriate.

So how am I supposed to respond to this? To me, you're making it sound like I started this thread because I was mad that you changed that thread to chat, which I didn't even notice until you brought that up What should I have made it? Cool? It just seems like a lot of threads are turning to chat more than usual these days.

My thread concerning the tick on my dog was changed to chat before anyone replied, and it was labled help.

who cares? its a worthless post count, and IMO, very little threads in the lounge should count towards it. You dirty post whores.
