shows for 299 for me. the 50 is not a rebate, it is a credit at amazon.

True dat.... while Amazon is good as cash for me since I order regularly it's not straight up out of pocket cash deal. OP has nice deal.

Amazon credit = cash.
And if you're buying Xbox 4GB you'll need 250GB HD, so $50 credit at Amazon = HD.

Does this interfere with a Windows MCE remote..specifically the power off/on button? Wouldn't surprise me if it does. I would like to program my harmony to wake my htpc up, but not turn on this if I have it.

I don't have that problem. Windows 7 64 with a new Slim 360. Harmony 880 has no issues turning one off and leaving the other on.

Also, for those of us that are unfortunate enough to have to pay tax for Amazon purchases ... this deal is really amazing. Already have a Slim and Kinect but would jump on this otherwise. I love Amazon but this is the better deal.

I understand on what your saying and it is a good deal. Out of pocket you're still spending $300. You can't trade credit in to get cash back. If someone had only $250 left on their credit card, then you can't get it. I believe (not sure) the credit can only be used for items sold by amazon. The 250 giger is not sold by amazon right now.

well, if you only have $250 credit left, do not buy this, save your money in case of emergency.

Amazon DOES indeed sell the 250GB HDD. When you do an initial search it clicks you to a 3rd party seller's listing but Amazon's is listed under the "More Buying Choices" column to the right.

I believe it defaults to the third party listing because they sell it for lower than Amazon's price -- $95.
