Sears (http://slickdeals.net/?pno=52379&lno=1&afsrc=1) has Craftsman DHRP Mini Utility Shovel for $4.99. Must add to cart to see discount. You will want to select in-store pick up as shipping is relatively high for this item. Thanks unlvrebels

unable to get free ship to store. First time I have had this problem. Shipping kind of kills the deal.

question is: Have you ever needed it?

I have no clue why I bought one of these. I could use some ideas.

Thanks, OP.

May be, if the car gets stuck in the snow, you could use it.

Exactly. Snow, sand, mud, whatever. It always pays to be prepared. For example, I went to a wedding reception the other evening and the GPS in everyone's car was directing them to drive through a farmer's orchard to get to the reception house. Rather than finding a new way around the orchard some dumb a$$ drove through the orchard and got stuck in a sand pit...he had nothing in his SUV to help get him out. ;) :bulb: ;)

Perfect. One in car to dig out of snow or mud.
One in basement to move stuff if a tornado hits.
Thx, op.

Yard work. I have a full sized shovel when I need to do some heavy digging, but for tight spots, the big shovel really gets in the way. Sometimes the hand held shovel is not quite enough to do the job either. This shovel definitely was better especially for my raised garden bed.

But was the farmer's daughter happy?

Bought this the last time it was on sale. Great tool. I use it to dig dingleberries out of my wife's ass.

A lot of people buy these to play in the sand at the beach. Works much better than a little plastic shovel.

This shovel is small and compact. Fits right in the trunk of your car next to that body you might need to get rid of. Handle makes scooping dirt a breeze. No more dumping along side back alleys... pull off. Dig a little. This shovel makes it easy as cake!

I'd prefer one of those $10 metal (not wood) ones you get at surplus stores. They can get all angle-y and telescope and collapse and what not. But this seems like such a good deal...

Thanks OP! This will be nice for cleanup in the crawlspace. Also, the other deal site has 6% cashback.

Free ship to store kicks in once you go to check out.
It then asks for your zip code. You choose a store and free pick-up at store is applied if that store has it in-stock.

this thing is a toy, quite craptacular...................the handle is flimsy and bends, not for serious digging........wish I never bought one, even at $5 I spent for it.

It took a little time for the mafia jokes to surface, but I am glad that the $5 shovel thread is finally back on its traditional track.

Got one last time and was using it the other day digging into roots and the handle started twisting (torquing). Look at the pic and notice the two small flimsy plastic sides (fork) attaching the part where you put your right hand and the shaft. Bad design. I have another kind with metal forks and it's much stronger.

The E-tool is very good. It can cut, dig, and folds up into a nice pouch that can be tucked away anywhere. The only downfall is when you have nothing but that to dig a foxhole lol.
