I have a canon mp810. It does not power up all of the sudden. Any ideas? Thanks.

unplug it for a while and let it sit.

might be a goner though.

it probably has an internal fuse. though the way inkjet printers are today, once you take it apart you wont ever get it back together.

Try a different Power Cord (is it just a Cord or a "brick"/"wall wart"?)

If it's plugged into a Power Strip of some kind, plug it in directly to a wall socket.

Is there any sign of life at all -- any lights or error messages?

Paper got jammed and the girlfriend hit "stop"... Then it shut off. I haven't been able to try a different cord yet, but have tried a wall outlet. It is just a cord..

Well open it up and get the paper out. Figure out how she shut it off, maybe there is a switch your not aware of. It is unlikely she broke it.

Took the paper out.. And she didn't shut it off. She said she hit the stop button (which also says reset) and it powered off on its own... Just tried a different cable and that didn't work either..

drill her cause sounds like she did much more to it then just press stop.

I would agree, I have a similar model of that printer and hitting the Stop or reset button does not turn it off, I dont even think it will stop the paper in it. It just cancels the current job.

Now at work we have a big networked HP Laser printer and it suddenly died like this. I determined that the switch had a loose solder joint and I fixed that and all was well. Very unlikely but possible in this case. I assume you have tried a different circuit to power it up?

Is the power button a toggle or a push button?

It's a push button.. Gave up on it and just bought a new one for $50.. The biggest downside is a have a bunch of oem ink... My stepfather is going to get a nice donation for his printer...

the dead printer is still worth $50 towards a trade in credit.

These printers all of them have hidden power recycle mode. Usually press power and go on HP. Canon power and that big button on it. I don't have mine in from of me. But any button on it beside power. Should force the printer to go back to the factory default mode. This will clear out any stored setting too.

I tried the on/off switch and the stop reset switch at the same time... that didn't work.. while I already ordered the new one, it would still be nice if you knew how to power recycle on the mp810. Any other ideas on what buttons to push?
