Removing restrictions would lead members to give each other reps without making a significant contribution to the forum.

Rationing gives reps more meaning. Having to "pick and choose" which posts to rep is a good thing.

"Rep inflation" is real, where even a mediocre deal could receive plenty of reps.

Save your reps for the deals and posts that appeal to you most.

There is a rep limit per 24 hours plus you must rep 6 different people before repping the same poster again.

Since we're all under the same constraints, a low rep limit makes reps all the more valuable. I'm be more inclined to trust the meaning of reps if I know users are budgeting their use.

It seems that way. Mine are worth 4 too and I can rep fewer people than before.
