I'm starting a small business and would like to have a website. Can anyone recommend a site to buy an address from? I've looked at godaddy.com, but are there other suggestions? Also, can you suggest a website to host it? If a friend creates a website for me, do I need someone to host it? If I create the website on my own, are there any good websites that help you create the wesbite on your own (i.e. templates).
Thanks!

I buy my domains from http://www.hover.com/ they have fantastic customer support and dont try and sell you extras you dont need like godaddy.
Once you have a domain you still need hosting. Godaddy is ok for hosting, there are lots of other someone will have a good suggestion here.
You might look at http://www.squarespace.com/ its not the cheapest around but they have amazing templates that dont look like templates at all.
Technically you can host on your own computer, but that's a terrible option for a business (very high chance of your computer shutting off, and your customers then can't access your page).
Also, make sure your friend knows what they're doing when creating a website. Make sure the page will be accessible (alt text for pictures, etc), clean, and easy to use.

Are the templates created from squarespace.com html or flash based? Will I need to know how to program or write code for these templates?

I believe most of them are HTML which is what you want so all mobile devices can access them the same. Squarespace advertises that it is so easy to setup anyone can do it with out knowledge of code. If you do know code you can customize them. they offer a couple of weeks of trial with no credit card required. You could always get in an see if it is for you. I dont have personal experience with it.

For a business I would agree on all accounts!

I'm pretty sure they use some modified form of drupal or other CMS (content management system). Most of those systems use a combination of HTML and PHP. Squarespace gives you the capability to muck around with the code, but it's more geared towards a GUI manipulation environment.
I've played around with a few CMS' and Squarespace and haven't found anything that gives me the customization of the theme I want. As a result I have been trying to learn Drupal theming and it is by no means easy.
