View Full Version : Search sucks

And I mean it really sucks. It's inconsistent. I'll search for the same term twice, a few hours apart, and sometimes get completely different results. And it's not just that other threads have been posted in since the original search. Sometimes I'll search for a term and get no results at all. For example, this thread (http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?sduid=13265&t=334648). I did a search this morning for dailyepisodes.com and got no results. So I posted a new thread (which is now post 48 in the thread I linked). Tonight I come back to check on the thread and find that it's a freaking repost, any by 5 days, at that. It reflects poorly on me to have posted 2 or 3 "reposts" in the past week, and it doesn't look too good on the part of SD.

And yes, I'm sure I spelled it correctly - I copied and pasted from the address bar.

I routinely have the same problem - search is very inconsistent.

I tried to do some searching on the website, but couldn't really find what I was looking for. I had to go use google to find smth on the website. Could you optimise a bit?

I think the new posts button is kinda doing a funky thing too. I'll hit it and it says that theres no posts and then I hit it again and it gives me all the new posts. Sometimes I have to hit it a few times for it to work.

:iagree: this happens with me, too.

Sometimes when I go to my profile, to see all of the topics that I recently made to see if there had been any replies, it will tell me that no topics were found. I will then have to wait 20 seconds to search again, only to have it tell me that there were no topics again.

Eventually, maybe a few hours later, it will finally show me all of my topics.

:Iagree: with all of you. I hate reposting! I always search and when I repost I feel  and let down by the search feature. :crying:
I still  you SlickDeals

I understand that there are more pressing issues (the release of 2.0, for example), but it's been 5 days, and it would be nice to at least have some sort of response to this matter. Whether you're planning to work on it, if there's nothing you can do about it, etc.

We have a dedicated server just for search and it still chokes. Whenever you get no results found, that means the search server is choking. We'll probably have to look to Google for search.

Whatever works. Thanks a lot.
