View Full Version : What is up with all these thumbs since the new format?

Since the site changed to the new format I am noticing most posts are getting thumbs up or down and with no supporting comments in many cases.

Do we have a few thumb crazed terrorists on the loose?

I am finding it very distracting to see a thread with multiple thumbs and no comments.

In my humble opinion, if you don't have a reason that you can share with the community for giving a thumb up or down, please consider sitting on it instead.

 Guess they have nothing better in life to do. Thumbs up from me ;)

Actually I had people come to me in PM & Myspace saying they refuse to post even if they find a good deal because of the way they are treated. I told them don't be intimidated by morons and go for it good or bad.

And this issue has been brought up to the Admins by myslef and others.

1) This is not a Hot Deal. I'm tired of seeing people post dumb statements/questions without a deal in the "Hot Deals" Section

2) That has nothing to do with the new design. People have always done that and have always been able to.

3) Mod Alerted

I think this is a good feature. It helps me to review the super slick deals considered by other viewers that I'd have probably overlooked otherwise, and to avoid reading bad one.

If I have nothing constructive to say, but want to boost the visibility of a good deal, I would give it a thumbs up.

How else could you tell the difference between a very popular deal and a bad deal if they all had many posts? Would you read through every comment?

If it really is a good deal, who cares if a few people give it a thumbs down? The thumbs up will outweigh. No reason to cry about it.

Several thumbs down for making an observation and asking a straight forward question.

That should confirm to the mods that there is a problem amongst our ranks that needs to be corrected.

I agree with selma and mcallan. People are using the thumbs down in place of nerps.

to me it is like anonymous spamming which is clutter.

I know how to solve the problem real fast: make it so that whoever thumbs up or thumbs down a deal is visible to the community. (And not just visible to mods) I bet there would be a big drop in the "thumbs down bandit" situation is the annonimity was taken away.

on the good deals part, do you actually look for good deals or how do you find them? on daily sites and emails? i like some of your deals, but it seems like majority are a waste of time. do you get paid for the qty you post or something?

Did you really just bump a 4 years old thread to ask that? Try PM'ing Selma next time or posting in a more recent thread.

The deals that anyone posts are on their own time and willingness to share to the community. I do not believe any of the deal posters are compensated monetarily.
