How to get your Rebates With Google Checkout
If you purchased an item with a rebate from Buy.com using Google Checkout, submit the Buy.com purchase receipt to the rebate company. Most rebates require a sales receipt from the retailer (Buy.com). Even if Google sent you a sales receipt, Google acted as a third-party payment processor (similar to using Paypal with a purchase on Ebay), so rebate companies probably will not accept the Google Checkout receipt as proof of purchase. If you did not receive a sales receipt from Buy.com, do this:
1. Go to Buy.com, and log out if you are already logged in.
2. Click "My Account" in the upper-right.
3. Click "Order Lookup" on the right side.
4. Enter the 8-digit order number you received through email from Buy.com (not the 11-digit order number received from Google). Also enter your Name and Phone Number where prompted.
5. Next page will display the order details.
6. Click on "View Receipt" and print it.
Now you can also look-up your order using your Google Checkout order# and/or Paypal order# in addition to your Buy.com order#
Update on Buy.com $10 off $30 (or $20 off $50) Google Checkout: It looks like Buy.com tightened the restrictions on using free shipping.
* If all items within your cart have a green truck icon then you get free shipping on your entire order.
* If you add $30+ worth of non-games, non-apparel items all of which have the grey truck icon and says "Free shipping on orders over $25" then you will get free shipping on your entire order. Several DVDs have the grey truck, so some good deals can be found.
* If you mix-and-match green truck items with grey truck items, it no longer gives free shipping.

One thing should be noted, do not enter any spaces, hypens or anything other than numbers in the phone number or order number slots or it will not process at all.

One thing I would add; HIGHLIGHT the line at the top of the Buy.com receipt that actually says "receipt". Make sure the rebate center knows that you consider this the receipt because Buy.com SAYS it's the receipt.

I may not deserve my rebate, but I will get it thanks for MissLeading :)
This will be my first rebate after shopping with Google Checkout, and I could not get it to work before. After reading this thread I double check my emails to find out the email from Buy.com had a different order number. Probably Google's email is nicer by the colors and I overlooked the information from Buy.com.
Anyway, thanks MissLeading for the steps, specially that comment about the order number. REP'ed ... oops, cannot rep on this forum :) will find another one, well deserved.

I thought the rebate says (Kingston) that submitting a receipt or a copy of order confirmation email. So I used google order receipt email. Let's see if that works.

Did you read the post above yours?
You get two Emails when you place your order at Buy.com using Google Checkout--one from Google and one from Buy.com. Use the Email from Buy.com as the order # is different than Google Checkout order # and you will not have any problems getting your rebate. Do it any other way at your peril!

Since I have already mailed, I can't do much now except waiting.
The google checkout email has the subject like "Order receipt from Buy.com". I would think this IS the order receipt, right? I never received any other emails from buy.com other than telling me item is shipped.

If you get the rebate fine.
Using the receipt from Buy.com may be nicer with those companies not willing to pay over what you paid. Buy.com does not know we paid $10 less because the offer from GC.
Getting the receipt from other companies may not work, but MissLeading created this thread for Buy.com orders.

You should have two emails, one from Google and one from Buy.com. You need to use the order number from Buy.com, shorter than the one from Google.
For sure, you have to be logged out in order to use this 'anonymous' look up.

If he bought both on the same receipt then it is unlikely that he will get both the rebates as the order# will be same.

Just want everyone to know that I have had nothing but problems with buy.com using Google Checkout. When the coupon first came out I placed 4 orders and all 4 were lost. It has taken me a month now of many emails and phone calls to get my money back. I have only received a refund for 1 order. I live in TN and one went to PA. Since it was delivered they say no go. Crazy!!! And of course customer service is in BFE.
Will not shop at buy.com again. I used to love them. Not any more.

I got a question for you all...
I got me a logitech mouse on 11/12 with google checkout thru buy.com. Its all good there. but the next day logitech comes with a rebate for $10 and it says "need to purchase between 11/13 thru 11/23. Well the package shipped before I was able to cancel. So i just received the package today with a "Packing List" showing the item purchased UPC# and Description clearly stating the item with a date of 11/13/06 (no mention as to being the order date or not).
So do you think I can get the rebate with this "packing list"?
Thanks...

I'm with you. I'll NEVER shop at buy.com again either. I ordered a wireless keyboard last week, and was waiting for it to be delivered on Monday, because when I checked the tracking number...it said "out for delivery". I was at home all day, and FedEx never showed up. I checked the tracking number the next day, and it stated that they delievered it, and left it on my porch because nobody was home. That's a flat out lie! I think the driver took my package! To top that off, I filed a claim and buy.com denied it because they say that FedEx delivered it to me. Now I have to go through the hassle with my creditcard company to get my money back. Just want everyone to know that I have had nothing but problems with buy.com using Google Checkout. Just to let you know that my rebate showed up. I used google check out order receipt email. So it worked fine. One thing was nice of them was that I actually used a wrong form with wrong dates. They denied my submission due to date issues. When I called in, they figured that my rebate qualifies the other rebate (which is the form I supposed to use) and moved my rebate there and validated it.
In a word, you don't have to use buy.com's receipt.

Don't get mad at buy.com; be mad at that thieving FedEx worker. Of course buy.com denied your claim--in their eyes, you already have your package, since it was "delivered". Why should they grant your claim? Did you complain to FedEx? Don't take it out on a vendor because the carrier has thieves working for them. I've been shopping with buy.com for just about a year, and I've NEVER had any issues with them.

My friend had several packages delivered by FedEx and they always leave the package outside your door if they think no one is home without asking for permission to do so. I think they do this because they want to save money not having to come back a second time. This is totally irresponsible and unacceptable. My friend got so mad that he called FedEx and complained numerous times, but it seemed like they just ignored it and kept doing it. Finally he got so pissed off that he just called FedEx one time and pretended that he didn't get the package and asked them to reimburse him (which they did) just to teach them a lesson. But unless a lot of this happens, I don't think they would change their idiotic policy. so it is not really Buy.com's fault. Some people may not like UPS, but UPS ALWAYS never leave a package outside your door without your permission. If no one is home, they will leave a notice saying that they will attemp to re-deliver 3 more times and if you prefer, you can sign the notice to give them permission to leave the package outside your door.
Sometimes the way some companies like FedEx does business makes you wonder how the idiot running the company got to the top.

Is it safer to use ONLY the buy.com receipt? On top of your name and address of the buy.com receipt states Google Checkout. I want to be sure which one to use before I submit my receipts.
Do all companies allow you to resend your receipts if it's the wrong one to qualify for the rebate? I never had a problem with rebates so I don't know.

Actually it is buy.coms fault for not paying the extra $1 for shipping and requiring a signature. Buy.com should eat the loss since they didnt spend the extra mailing cost.

This is driving me crazy... I was about to finally submit all my rebates (I made 4 separate purchases in the last couple of weeks with Buy.com's GCO) when I came across this thread.
What am I doing wrong? I do not have a "regular" Buy.com account and only started using GCO a couple of weeks ago. I have tried both Buy.com order number and Google order number in different pages of Buy.com's order lookup but none of them can locate my orders! The message I am getting is always the same:
We could not locate this order in our system. Please note: new orders will show up within 5 minutes of placing order!
I am using the phone number that I used to create Google account. Actually, I don't even remember being asked for my phone number anywhere in Buy.com.
What the heck am I doing wrong? There are only 3 fields in that form, for crying out loud... This thing makes me feel like an idiot... Somebody, please help me if you have already figured it out!... Thank you!

FYI. In the phone # field, you have to enter your area code too. Otherwise, you'll get a generic error message that your order was not found instead of asking you to input area code too.
You have to fill in Buy.com Order#, Last Name and Phone.
Check you emails from Buy.com to find Buy.com order#. Provide the phone# which is on the Google Checkout account.

For the last week I can not get buy.com receipts with the method described in this thread. If you look at the buy.com description of the use of Google checkout, it is explicitly states that invoices for buy.com purchases through Google checkout will only be kept at Google checkout and not at buy.com. See quote below from http://www.buy.com/corp/promos/google_offer.asp
"Buy.com Purchase History – By using Google Checkout to make purchases on Buy.com, your purchase history for such purchases will be maintained solely in your Google Checkout account. Your purchase history for such purchases will not be maintained by Buy.com. All purchase history that you may have with Buy.com prior to using Google Checkout or with respect to purchases that you make without using Google Checkout will be maintained in your My Account at Buy.com. "
Most of my rebates say they can not be combined with other offers. The receipt that you can printout at google.com shows the Google discount. I worry that I will not be receiving my rebates using a printout of purchases from "My account" at Google that show the 20 or 10 dollar discount as the invoice. I can not get buy.com to answer my emails requesting invoice directly from buy.com.

You could be having the same problem I was. My Google billing name ends in "Jr". It is still unbeliveable to me (as I told the Buy.com help person who told me to do it that way)but I had to enter "Jr" (no quotes) in the Last Name field and it worked.

I use this link to look up my order from Buy.com:
https://secure.buy.com/corp/support/guestordersearch.asp
In your confirmation email, there is a box that says Order Details. There are two numbers, one says Google Order number, which is essentially of no use. The other says Buy.com Order #, which is the number you want -- the 8 digit number is what you put in as the oder number in the above link.
Never had any problem, so I don't know what all of you are having problems with.

I've never flamed anyone here. But honestly if someone couldn't figure that out, then they shouldn't get the rebate....
Well dont you just love people who "flame" people who are having problems when they are not?? Well I have a masters degree, and attempted to get my 8 BUY.Com receipts for 3 hrs with nothing but failure. I also felt like a fool as did MANY others. We were called, "lazy" "dumb" etc.
Well I finally got the phone number (which is not listed any where on the site of BUY.COM from dvdtalk.com) and got my friendly 3rd world customer service person. I was informed that my last name was J, and not James J Smith.
It appears that the google program does not allow for a middle name, Jr. etc. To be certain, check the label the package came in. I was shocked to see that all 8 box labels were addressed to James J. When I put J in the field for last name, WALA!!!!
I have no clue how this got through the credit card company, but thats another story. I hope this helps all you unfortunate people who used a middle initial like me, HAPPY RECEIPT PRINTING:) :) :)

Sometimes the way some companies like FedEx does business makes you wonder how the idiot running the company got to the top.
that's really unfortunate! i actually think that buy.com is SUPPOSED to refund you for that. i contacted them after stupid fedex supposedly left the package at my front door (at 8:05 PM, as stated on the tracking site...) with it nowhere to be found. the tracking site said something like "no signature service requested." if you saw that, i think using the argument that because they had no signature for the package, fedex should be held accountable. they have no proof that the package was delivered. buy.com should carry out the issue with the courier. they were ready to give me a refund after i contacted them explaining the situation, so i don't know why they're giving you a hard time...

I didn't know about going to buy.com and getting a receipt there until last week. I already sent out two rebates before I found out, I used the GCO receipt. It seems like it worked for the Samsung monitor, a check is being processed right now. The other one I haven't heard from yet.
As for the FedEx thing, I was never home whenever they deliver stuff, buy.com and from other companies. They always leave a door tag saying I can pick it up and etc. The thing that got me mad was that it said I can pick it up after 5 pm, went there and they told me he was doing night runs and haven't came back, pissed me off. As for UPS, they ALWAYS leave stuff at the front door, even the parts from Newegg, about $300. So, I just send everything to my dad's restaurant which always requires a signature. FedEx > UPS for now.

Buy.com is the only receipt I used when using GCO and I've had no problem so far with about 8 rebates. I still have another 5 or so rebates that haven't been received yet (knock on wood).

Well, I used Google checkout and never received a confirmation email from Buy.com
Now you can also look-up your order using your Google Checkout order#

I've never flamed anyone here. But honestly if someone couldn't figure that out, then they shouldn't get the rebate....
I know! I mean if there is a green or grey truck OBVIOUSLY u get free shipping for each item that has the green or gray truck.

WTF,
Logitec did not honor their rebate. They sent me a postcard that I bought it outside the date range. How August 07, 2007 could be outside the 8/2/2007 and 8/13/2007??? Looks like a scam to me.
Buy.com wouldnt take it back. It is outside their 14-day return policy.

Hey,
I have a question. I bought one item for my friend (he lost hist CC) from buy.com. So that the shipping information and payment information is completely different.
When filling rebate form for this item, which name and address I should use - shipping info or billing info ?

You should use one from the receipt, which is the only reference they have. I am not sure if they will check but I would use either one.

Because you know, there are both Payment Information and Shipping information in the receipt. I dunno know which one I should choose to fill the rebate form.

You should have a phone number in your rebate submission form, they should be able to answer that question. I guess you do not care to which address they sent the check, assuming your friend is still your friend

What's your experience with the GCO bonus? I got it 4 times and after that always got rejected. Here is what I did before each other:
1) Got new IP address
2) Signed up with new and working email address
3) Used a fresh Credit Card
4) Got creative with the spelling of the address and my name
It worked before, but now I get the message that they couldn't verify some of my data. I wonder what that is, because I've never received such a message.
Here are some possibilities and maybe someone can share their experience too:
1) They are checking the phone number? Because I always made one up.
2) They are checking the addresses of previous orders and somehow matching them?
3 They no longer ship to addresses that they can't confirm with USPS?
What's your experince with the Google checkout bonus?

Just wondering if anyone has info about this one....... I bought Deadwood season 1 dvd box set 11/07, it had a free magazine subscription or you could send receipts for a $10 rebate. Sent all forms and both buy.com and google checkout receipts with order numbers and $ amounts to M2 Processing/Buy.com. It should have only taken 6-8 weeks, but surprise! I've not heard anything. I just got through fighting Kohl's about a rebate too; they said the receipt I submitted didn't have the store name on it. Luckily I keep copies of everything. Of course, I sent a letter back with a copy of the orig. receipt highlighting the store name 6 times, yes....the name Kohl's was on that receipt a total of 6 times. People make mistakes, but jeez!

I strongly believe they 'deny' some rebates to take chances on people not following up, that will save them good $$$, which added to those that forget mailing the forms, obviously implies revenue for them. I just try now days to avoid many $$$ in rebates, specially after joining SD where patience pays off

I did that too, but after 4 times it always got canceled; no matter what.
How creative do you get on your shipping address?
Unfortunately buy.com doesn't have it's google checkout promo anymore
but there are certain cool rebate sites (http://pinurl.com/ejq) that offer cash rebates on all buy.com purchases as well as other stores. :)
