For lunch one day last week I went to Farragut Square to read & saw the guy in the first video (http://occupydc.org/the-occupy-people/#respond) (“Bear”) sitting on the sidewalk begging. He harassed (badly – sticking out his tongue, making hand gestures, shouting) every woman who walked by, and anybody he thought looked “foreign” (brown, black or Asian) who didn’t give him money got to hear a LOUD string of profanity along with exactly what he thought of “for’ners” (dey terk err jerbs!).

Meh...I'm all for the movement. There is obviously plenty of things wrong with this country and it starts at the top. I think the majority of the occupy protesters (the 99% if you will) have good intentions on how things should be done and don't intend to negatively disrupt people's lives, but want to get their voice out there and gain momentum. Unfortunately, there will always be a few (the 1% if you will) that show up to these things, act like farking idiots, get themselves on TV/news, and the media portrays their actions as the general consensus of the group.

I am actually surprised at all the seemingly "anti-occupy" opinions here in the Lounge. I figured there would be more support of this type of movement (excluding the jackasses who pull ridiculous stunts...and whom I'm not fully convinced aren't plants put there by the 1% to bring negativity to the cause).

The way I see it, the people on this forum that you're talking about, just don't buy into the anti-capitalism / entitlement mentality that these OWS protesters seem to have bought into.

I don't know if that's the case or not. From what I've gathered a lot of the Loungers seem to have well paying jobs in the computer and medical industries, although I don't *think* that many would fall into the 1% category...so I'd *assume* (apparently incorrectly) that they would be for reform of some sort to stop all the backroom dealing between our government and large corporations that line their pockets with our hard earned money.

Also, I see that many opposed to movement have this notion that EVERY group has the same goals. If this is the case, can you please explain to me WHAT exactly you believe these goals are? From what I've gathered, there is no specific set of goals at this point, or endgame...just that people are tired with the way things are currently being done and want to make their voices heard about their displeasure. It seems people are so quick to band everyone together and stereotype a group by the actions of a few knuckleheads that have outlandish enough opinions to make the news, that this is perceived the feeling of the entire group.
