Wanted people's experiences with web hosting.
I have an 'instantpage' with goDaddy but am not sure if I want to invest in their full websites.
Looking for something that doesn't add their own "Powered by goDaddy" or whatever link.
Albums is a must. Merchant services would be a plus. Multiple email addresses a plus.
I have the domain so would redirect it to whatever site I get.
Cheaper is better, but I know I want good as well. Would like to keep in < $100 a year.
Just setup your own Apache Server and host it there.

Sadly, most ISPs block ports 80 and 25 from their residential customers, specifically to prevent them from running servers. :(

As much as I would like to try it, it would be a lot of hassle for me to attempt it.
I would also need Shopping Cart. Ideally I want a site that would handle that and the shipping. Also, the good thing about going through a 'service' is that hopefully they would aid in SEO and the like.

I think I am going to go with Zenfolio. I've been debating them and smugmug. This will be a website geared towards photography and those are the most well known ones for photos. They handle all of the cart/shipping/etc and their Pro plan is $100 a year.

I like Cookiehost. :dontknow: if it meets your needs, though.

I will have to check out cookiehost.
MDDHosting (http://www.mddhosting.com/) or Hawkhost (http://www.hawkhost.com/). I've been with Hawkhost for about 2 years and am satisfied with the server performance and reliability. The owner (Tony) has a bit of an abrasive personality, but he runs a solid business. MDDHosting is slightly more expensive, but puts less clients on each server and the owner (Mike) is a friendly, easygoing guy. Both companies have an excellent rep, which you can verify by reading up at the Webhostingtalk forums. You can also research other hosts there, as it's pretty much the most popular webhosting forum on the web.
GoDaddy is horrendous btw.
