Update, 16 DEC 2006: I updated it again to reflect the latest image paths used on the website. The logo, etc. are fixed again. Download the latest script in a text file right HERE (http://forums.slickdeals.net/attachment.php?attachmentid=25458&stc=1&d=1166285975) /Update

If you have firefox, you can download the Stylish extension (http://slickdeals.net/?sduid=16351&t=364969&u2=http://userstyles.org/stylish) and then install my new Dark slickdeals style here (http://slickdeals.net/?sduid=16351&t=364969&u2=http://userstyles.org/style/show/817). There is a before and after image there, but I'll post them here just to give people a heads up of what it looks like.

Note: I did not edit anything concerning ad placement and display, because I don't see them to begin with. If enough people make a request, I'll figure out how to darken them as well.

As of now, it works well with the main page, and the forums, but not really for the other pages (coupons, price search, ratings). Also, my style will work with any of the three slickdeals styles, although I designed it to overlay the "hybrid" style specifically (it's the default style at slickdeals).

Any suggestions are welcome. It's a WIP, and there's a few minor things I'll be changing in the immediate future, so either stay tuned, or check stylish every once in a while.

Very, very nice. Easy on the eyes, especially for people like me who have difficulty with lightly contrasting colors.

One bug that I found.. when selecting from polls.. the text doesn't show up.. you have to highlight it.

Thanks!

So far the list of stuff for me to fix (hopefully when I get home from work?):

1) text color in polls
2) vbeditor
3) search boxes
4) forum rank bars
5) pretty much all of the vb drop-down boxes ("search this thread" for example)
6) do something about the apparel/coupons/price search/etc pages
7) those two tiny little square images at the bottom corners of the site banner (how'd I miss that)

I love seeing user input... who knows... your color combinations might even make it as a SD Skin someday. Keep up the good work.

[full-disclosure] I'm sticking with the ICE skin. [/full-disclosure]

Problem: I updated a bunch of stuff, but userstyles.org won't let me to upload a CSS script that's greater than 65k characters.

The massive number of characters stems from my use of inline images. I feel that they're the best option for overwriting site images, since it requires no external hosting. The down side to using them is that they make your CSS script very large.

Until userstyles.org increases their character limit (and I have no clue if this will ever happen), I'm going to simply maintain the style here, in the form of a txt attatchment.

To change the style manually:

-Tools->Extensions->Stylish: Options
-find "Dark slickdeals.net", highlight it, click Edit
-click somewhere in the text editor, select all (CTRL-A), delete
-paste the contents of the .txt attatchment (CTRL-C, CTRL-V)
-Save

And it should work. If it gets screwed up somehow, just re-load the old style script from userstyles.org.

I LOVE it! Reps for you. I have always wished SD would have a black background option. Good job :highfive:

Edit: Ok I tried to rep you but you haven't posted in anything recent enough that would allow me to do so :sadwalk:

Yeah--don't worry about the repping thing. Just enjoy the stylesheet. :)

BTW, is anyone having problems manually loading the CSS instead of using the userstyles website? I don't think it's that difficult, but then again, I already know how to do it. :p

:secret: Just thought I'd mention that no one can rep you in this forum, since reps are disabled in here. And your posts in the reppable forums (deal forums, help or tech support) are more than 30 days old, so they're too old for someone to use to rep you for this (I know 'cause I tried :)). Just an FYI in case you were interested. ;)

BTW, I don't use Firefox but just wanted to say that I think you're doing a great thing here with the dark background. Very nice job. :)

Woah, check out the new "Midnight" style that SD has in the drop-down. It's very similar to mine, but it can be used without stylish, and in any browser.

It's not nearly as dark, but it's still good.

I wonder if my CSS idea had anything to do with it?

Probably not. :shake:

The Midnight theme has been in the works since the new layout, it's just been recently released.

Update: fixed the image links on the main page again. It wasn't anything major. Recommend anything major in this thread. :)

There are some moderator menus and such that you can't see as a regular user. How easy is it to change font colors in these menus?

I really like your theme and pretty much use it exclusively, but some menus have smoke font on dark blue background. I'd like to change those if possible.

If you get the Web Developer Toolbar for Firefox, choose Information, Display ID and Class Details. You may want to add Outline, Outline Block Level Elements to make it easier to look at. The ID (starts with #) and the class (starts with .) will be displayed next to items like menus. With that information, a non-moderator could change moderator-specific menus.

I'm guessing they are stock vB mod items? I'd have to look into what they are, but like I say, it would only involve finding a class or specific item, and applying a different hex RGB color tag and/or background color tag.

Ok, I lied. :P If you could post a screenshot of what moderator menu(s) look(s) messed up (alt-printscreen, paste into pshop, crop, save as png), it'd make it easier.

Or do what aluvus recommended...I didn't know about that extension. :)
