We currently have our computer hooked up to both the TV and our monitor. We have a LOT of media on the PC, and would like a box that can stream media from a network drive (wired, wireless, i don't care).

Thats all we need, a box to stream media from the PC, that can play most file formats. We have an xbox but it won't play MKV's, etc. A good interface would be nice.

All the comparisons I've read tell me if they have wireless/wired and whether they'll play youtube or netflix- but they don't compare their ability to stream media :(

Recommendations?

If all you want is to stream local media over your network I'd definitely go with the WD TV. As far as I know Roku still can't do that without 3rd party software. Looks like the price went up $10 to $100 unless Staples gets more in stock and you do the price match and coupon thing.

Thank you!! Its for a gift, so I think I'll just create an alert and wait til it goes on sale again :) A friend of mine has the older version of popcorn hour, and he swears by it- any reason for the preference?

Somebody mentioned the Micca in this thread:

Looks like it plays most all formats and is as simple as it gets if that's all you need.
