I am looking for a classic controller that I don't have to plug into a wiimote. Does such a thing exist?
Thanks

Almost went for that or something like it, but it still requires you to plug into a wiimote. It just lets you put the wiimote somewhere else.
I am looking for a controller that I don't need to use a wiimote to sync with a Wii, or any other computer.

a wavebird or gc controller is probably going to be the only thing you will find, and those only work on older wii's that still have the ports and emulators

...if your Wii has GC controller compatibility.

You can't use a GC controller everywhere you can a classic controller, IIRC.
I don't think what you want is possible.

I found this:

Which is exactly what I am looking for, but it has completely dropped off the planet.
Sad

I just tried googling a bit for it and you're right about it being unattainable. I wonder why its gone.

Conspiracy. It is one of the more open attempts at a controller that will work with computers, wii's and phones.
That and it seemed to be hit and miss on quality, sure that part is unrelated :).
I guess I will just break down and get another wiimote and classic controller, my hope of cutting down on the amount of crap I have laying on my entertainment center is dwindling.

Radio Shack makes a wireless controller whose dongle can either plug into the GCN ports or into the Wii Remote.
It's in the GCN form, though, so it's not exactly what you're looking for.
If you want a wireless GCN controller that's in the form of the classic controller, thrustmaster makes some.
As others have said, what you want probably doesn't exist anymore.
