I have a question about congas .. I just learned about them yday - I also read all the stuff on SD about why they are evil and the spawn of the devil (or somethin like that)

My question is - IF SD members are willing to take their chances and try their luck at joining a conga line - and it costs no money to them - and the conga is NOT endorsed by slickdeals in any way - can't we make it clear that its not an SD thing but rather a personal thing that people can choose to do??? And thereby WITHOUT saying SD is vouching for any of it - at least express our interest in it/start up one here for those who WISH to partake - not everyone has to nor is anyone forced to - but those who want to should have the option right? or No?

I understand the whole self-promotion thing is a problem and stuff but I was thinking if you get in on it soon enough you've got a chance to get the same 'prize' as the person who first invites you to it - I think I've seen a couple on yahoo groups and they seem to be pretty successful and well moderated ..

rajee, there are plenty of websites that do this kind of thing. google "ipod conga" or something similar. I believe I also explained the futility of conga lines here (http://www.slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=463444&postcount=30).

the decision is not up to the forum users, but the forum administrator(s). this decision has been made and likely will not be reversed. the ipod scheme clearly does not benefit all participants and was ruled inappropriate for this forum.

Yeah I gave up on those along time ago. My favorite is the ones where it asks a question and no matter where you click it says you have won a free IPOD!!! Not worth the time, agrivation, and spam (even if i do send it to my spam email address)

And the more conga lines there are... the less effective they will be. It would be better for ALL if there was only 1 conga site.
