What does it mean to "Rep"?

To give reputation points is to give thanks for good deeds or help in your favor. Click on the green box next to a users reputation number. Put in a comment and go from there. Until you have a certain number of posts, your reps don't count, but after that they do.
ONce they start counting, you will increase a users rep count when you give them a rep.

To give a "reputation" point to, by clicking on the Reputation score or box under the user's name. You also, then, can leave a comment for the user.
A nice way to say, "hey, thanks!" And often not done nearly enough in that regard!

Also good to scroll to the top and click on FAQ. You can learn a lot there.

Now I understand that to "Rep" means to increase a value in a Reputation point system.
It seems that comments may be left when reputation points are given. How do I check what the comments are?

Once someone gives you a reputation point, you can see the comments they left for you by clicking on your User CP in the upper left corner.

I clicked on the User CP but see not comments. I have attached an image of what my User CP interface looks like. I see nothing regarding to Reputation Point comments in User CP.

The 10 points you have were given to you when you signed up. Everyone starts with 10. When you get 11 or more there will be comments (but check regularly because users with less than 50 posts leave "grey" reps, ones that don't count toward the total).
Something very handy is, if you post a deal and want to go back and look at the reps you have gotten, you can click on the number or green box by that post to see the comments people left you. Since the user cp only holds 5 comments at one time, it's a good way to check out the comments people left you :)

Those are grey reps (reps from users with less than 50 posts, which show up grey).
Click below to see what a grey rep looks like.

One shortcomming of the reputation points system seems to be that repping can only occur in the positive direction.

We're been there and done that, twice aparently. People abused negative reps so they are probably never going to come back.

When I try to give rep points, I get a pop-up with the following:
NetJohn, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.
I take it that it takes a while for a user-account to be activated fully?

You can't rep a PM or anything like that. You have to rep a post.

More specifically, one in the deal forums... hot deals, freebies, coupons and contests... Not positive on contests though. I also think you can rech tech support posts.

I wasn't trying to rep a PM. It was a post in the Hot Deals forum. A ex-co-worker told me I should be able to vote the thumbs as well, but I didn't get that option until just a bit ago.
I think there must be some delay between creating an account and repping/voting. Maybe it's a post count, don't know.

If you change the number of posts to view per page to 80 posts per page this will still be page one. You can make that change in user CP.

The most posts per pages that I see is 40- but that would still make it all one page.

Although information may note have been entirely acurate, I shall rember to rep you when I achieve at least 50 posts.Yes, but there's also 80 threads per page that you can show, as well as 40 posts per page. It's a few options below the "show number of posts" option. These are the maximum, there are different numbers listed.

I had a question about rep points and figured I'd post it here instead of starting a new thread or something. I searched but didn't find what I was looking for, btw.
I know how to view rep comments left for me, or at least the last 5, but is there a way to view all the recent rep points given to me (ie what posts they came from)? Last time I checked I had around 15 rep points, but today I'm suddenly at 21, and there is only one new comment. I'm just curious what posts the other points came from.
Thanks
Just Peachy

You can't view more than five, and you can't view old ones unless you ask a mod or Mr. SD god to open it up for you. You may have gotten repped by people who have more than 1 repping point ability... i.e., those that are bold, or have been here longer than one year. :D

I'm more looking for a way to view the rep points where the person didn't leave a comment. On my CP I have the last five comments showing, but between now and the second to last comment (11-25) I have been repped around five times, yet only the one that had a comment attached (on 12-5) is displayed. So I'm just wondering which post those other four reps came from.
I'm pretty sure it's impossible to see those hidden reps, but I just thought I'd make sure.
Thanks.

I don't think there are hidden reps. You might of just got someone to rep you who was worth more than one rep. dnc is worth +4 reps, I believe. I'm sure there are others like him.

I've noticed that some reps are worth more than one point. I've never seen an explanation for the difference. I didn't realize that some were worth +4. I think that +3 was the most.

I think the longer you are here, the more your reps are worth. I'd guess that yours would be worth two, but idk. Next time you rep someone pay attention to how much their count goes up.
