Hey guys, long time slickdeals lurker, but don't really post too much. Anyway, I am looking for a laptop but I have ZERO knowledge when it comes to computer guts.

Here are some details about what I'm looking for:

My budget is in the $800-$900 range.

I don't game too much on PC, but that's mostly because I've never really had a great gaming computer before, so I definitely want something that can handle the newer games with no hiccups, but it doesn't need to be a powerhouse that can play the newest game on the absolute best settings either.

Size isn't really a concern for me, as I don't really move my laptop around too much, just from my desk to my lap so I'm not necessarily looking for a "portable" laptop. But obviously if its smaller its cheaper so I don't really care too much.

Performance. Performance is very important for me. I need this thing to be quick as lightning. I dabble with Protools and DJ software so I need something that can handle programs like that with no problem. Currently, when I run Protools on the laptop I have and the song I work on starts to get bigger and bigger, it starts to crash every 10 minutes or so and I have to restart Protools over and over again. Not fun. Not fun at all... I know that protools has issues with certain processors on PCs so if someone knows specifically a computer that will run PT no problem then that would be perfect.

Ports. I want it to have a USB 3.0 port and an HDMI port. That's pretty much all I am looking for in terms of ports.

Last word, I have been flip flopping over the past few weeks between getting a nice PC or ponying up a little more and trying to snag a Macbook through Amazon Warehouse deals. I know a Mac will be able to run protools and DJ stuff with ease, and since gaming isn't a huge deal for me, it would probably be a good fit, but if I can get a good PC with a good processor that can smoothly run protools then I'd rather go that rout.

Please advise! Thanks guys!

Get a desktop if you want performance/games and don't care about mobility.

If you don't care about games:
Get a macbook if you want something reliable and for DJ-ing, or get a cheap business class laptop (thinkpad, dell outlet) if you want a laptop that won't die but is still cheap.
