This has just started happening in the past couple of weeks or so. It will crash when I'm just on slickdeals only or when I have other sites open in tabs. It never happens with other sites until I bring slickdeals up alongside them so I'm pretty sure it has to be this site. I never had this problem before with slickdeals. I spend a lot of time in the sweeps forum, though I doubt that matters. Sometimes it happens within a few page changes and sometimes I can go through several pages before it crashes. Is this the right forum to ask about this or can someone direct me somewhere else to try and solve this issue. I tried a search but couldn't find anyone else that seems to be having this same problem.

This is the right forum for the question. If no one who has a clue responds, try pming redsolar.
FWIW, I have firefox and don't have that problem.
I tried a search but couldn't find anyone else that seems to be having this same problem.i've been experiencing the same problem, but it's been longer for me (at least a month or two, iirc). seems to only happen w/ SD, not other sites.
i think Kel_be noted a problem w/ SD & FF in tech support
http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?t=355785
for me, removing extensions helped, but hasn't completely taken care of the problem
FF (v2) crashes at least 3 or 4 times/day when visiting SD. i guess i've just gotten used to it :dontknow:

Thank you both granolagirl and Melissa2,
It may have been happening for a month, it's been awhile, I don't know how you get used to it, it's driving me batty  I will try uninstalling extensions, I seem to remember firefox updated some addons but some didn't have updates available but I still kept one or two, something like that. I tried to rep you both but it said I couldn't in this forum, I'll try in another forum, thanks again, Sandy

Try rolling back your FF to 1.5.0.7. That's what I'm using, haven't had a problem.

It would be great if you someone could notice when it happens. Front page or forums. Also a list of installed extensions would be helpful too. Possibly a theme you are using as well.
I primarily use Opera, but also Firefox for the forums every once in a while, and have not noticed any of the issues.
When it crashes, can you check which module in firefox crashes?

I'm having this same problem. How do you determine what module crashed in FF?

I had the same problem, and it stopped once I upgraded FF to the latest update.
I'm having this same problem. How do you determine what module crashed in FF?I've been having the same problem as well (firefox version 2.0.0.1)
Some days, the browser doesn't crash at all. however, the browser has been crashing again (for the past week or so) at least a few times a day. The crashes occur only while visiting this site, and they'll occur anywhere here.
I've already removed all my extensions except those i really need. For some reason, the firefox adblock add-on seemed to help lessen the frequency of the crashes when I first installed it; however, that doesn't seem to help much anymore.
if anyone has any other suggestions, that would be great. thank you
where can you get 1.5.0.7
i think you can get it from here (http://www.filehippo.com/download_firefox/?1557)

I have version 2.0.0.1 with lots of extensions and have not experienced any problems. Maybe it's the Adblock Plus, which I have installed.

this has been happening to me since I switched to the newest FF version..
happens in forums, as I change pages...has to close all Firefox...ARGH
happens 6-10 times a day...
(thankfully the new version has an option to go back to what I had opened afterwards)

I've been forcing myself to use FF for awhile and haven't been able to reproduce this. Is it crashing while viewing a thread, forum or some other page?
I've been forcing myself to use FF for awhile and haven't been able to reproduce this. Is it crashing while viewing a thread, forum or some other page?(d) all of the above. :)
this is how it usually goes for me... i click on a link to visit the forum or go to a particular section (e.g. hot deals or freebies), to read a thread or a PM, to create a new thread/post a reply, or visit the front page. i wait for the page to load -- and it's during that time, the crash will occur.
after installing the adblock plus (not adblock) add-on (just installed it yesterday), the browser hasn't crashed. thanks iamiam for the suggestion.
actually, iirc, i had the same problem w/ firefox crashing when i was using my other laptop. i had installed adblock plus based on redsolar's recommendation for something else, and noticed that it helped with the ff crash problem on that computer.
it seems to me that sometimes, days will go by and the browser won't crash at all. then during other times, the browser will crash 10+ times/day (December was the worst). i am curious to know how the pattern for crashes has been for others.

I will have to pay closer attention...but I know it is often at the most inopportune time...like I am about to hit reply or ??? ...enough that it frustrates me..
let's see...
I am always in forums...sweeps, freebies, the lounge but can't recall if I am in threads at the time...
I will make a point to pay attention and document  and report back BEFORE I take any action to fix the problem

I primarily use Firefox and had not experience any problem when browsing slickdeals... This may sound stupid but did you try to clear your cache and cookies? Or maybe try to use CCleaner to clear out temp files. If those things don't work, maybe reinstall it?

no, I haven't done either of those....I use auto-form filler and hate to clear out needlessly.
I think I will document for a couple of days....and then maybe try some fixes.
thanks for the suggestions.

documented crashes for 2-20-07 ...just one
I just finished posting a reply on a thread in contests/sweeps forum
clicked on "contests/sweeps" to go to the forum main page...page showed up...
tried to scroll down and page was not loaded and then firefox encountered problems and has to close.
When I reloaded it came back up on the page where i had last posted.
hope that helps the diagnostic people...let me know if there is something else I should be documenting when this happens.
