I was on a coupon thread before Christmas and saw how a member had ingeniously hidden the coupon code so that only members could see the one-time use code. Have forgotten how he did it and can't for the life of me remember where I was looking. Tried searching but have come up empty.

Is there someone who knows how that is done, so that I can input some good Staples coupons for members only to take advantage of? Don't want to do the PM thing.

Thanks.

A spoiler? As in "if folks don't want to know the rest of the movie, don't click here" or the like? How do I do that?

use spoiler tags, for example:
hidden text would look like this ...

hidden text

press control-a to highlight, and you should see the hidden text

hth :)

no, like putting the thing you don't want to see in special 'spoiler tags' or highlight the font to a color matching the background works too.

it'll only work if the lurker don't know how to highlight the hidden message.

the hidden message can be read by 'replying' to that post.

btw, that was in the coke reward coupon thread you are talking about :D i posted in spoiler mode and just to see how many guests were lurking each time the rewards code thread had a new post. :evillaf:

I think PM is probably best, I did have one person who signed up just after I posted a free item and they said that's why the signed up. I figure if they are a member, they may at least contribute at some point

guess because i responded to this thread, this makes me a non lurker! now lets see how many members read but not responded to this thread, technically doesnt that make these non responders LURKERS?

I figure if you are an SD member then you can't really be a Lurker cause you have the ability to post/reply. I think the main Lurkers that are feared are the 'guests' who don't have an SD account and therefore only can take and not give.

I don't think there is really anyway to tell that. I could say that from a certain point of view many people here are using it for personal gain or they wouldn't be here. It could be from something just as simple as wanting free offers and to save money (hence the reason for the site) or to resale items they get deals on and make a profit. I personally don't have much of a problem with the re-sellers and ebay sellers because I don't really use the Hot Deals that much since income is kind of tight now, but I can see how it would be annoying to have not gotten in on a deal because someone bought say 100 of the item and then turned around and put 99 on ebay and you find them for 2 or 3 times what they would have cost. I do think though, anyone caught spamming or scamming or trying through SD should face consequences
