Ok, here is another idea that would be great to see. How about every time a new deal is posted it will instant message you about the deal. What do you think?
If nothing else it would be nice to be able to subscribe to an email list to get emailed each time a new deal is posted.

I like the AIM option better than email because some of these deals are very time sensative and there is no faster way to get notified than instant messaging. My email is already bloated with enough crap that instant messaging would be a lot easier to deal with for me.

according to the main slickdeals page you can sign up for the "slickdeals alert"....I haven't tried that....I think the AIM feature would be better..:)

Great idea! Too bad my skills arn't up to snuff. I have no idea how or where to start for AIM.
For the email thing, I'll have to find some software to replace the current newsletter that will save opt-in confirmations. I've had a few bad experiences where a user would subscribe & confirm to the newsletter and would report it as spam to spamcop. I guess they forgot that they subscribed.

If I were to find a solution for you to instant message the deals would you consider doing it?

The holes in Linux are because of un-educated administrators. The holes in Windows are due to a core fundamental design in the architecture. Everytime they come out with patches to fix the hole it's just another kludgey Band-Aid that clogs the OS even more.

AIM will not work if you are not online, messages aren't cached on the server. Yahoo Messenger has this feature for off-line messenging.

I have seen SMS work on similar sites.
heres what i do.
use a hotmail email account and with msn messenger logged into that hotmail account it alerts when new mail arrives from slickdeals mailer. down side is that i can have forum level alerts cause the boss has that turned off i believe. oh well. i just subscribe to the ones i like. also, i have wireless email, basically the same as sms to cell phone, im sure your cell phone has an email address. from hotmail i send private messages from slickdeals to my wireless email. yah. turn on forum level please mr boss.

Love your enthusiasm.
I prefer not to be so "connected". slickdeals.net is fun and not my calling in life.
But its a great outlet for people.
