Yeah, demograhics and probably because they have so many people but not all that many products maybe? I did test a teeny tiny tube of hair conditioner a very long time ago for them that I forgot about but that was before they started this program. I can't even cash out my points. Oh well, like WD said there are plenty of other places that DO want us! (I'm testing for Aveda right now :woot: ). It would be nice to cash out the points though just to see what they end up sending. :rolleyes:

I do also remember that they sent people the redemption emails in waves....so don't lose hope if you didn't get it yet....you still might :nod:

Well my argument was that they shouldn't send out those things blindly. Now that they have the disclaimer, If you get something you can't use, I'd suggest trying to trade on here....I was lucky and lovelyone was able to use the hairdye I got so it didn't go to waste. I know we have a wide variety of ethnicities and ages on the SD board, especially in the allure threads, and i'm sure you'd be able to trade with someone :nod: If not, then it can't hurt to ask. Especially since the disclaimer wasn't so big that you couldn't miss it, because I did :nod:

I think the Slick Deals mod's would have a problem if we set something like that up. There is already the trade thread but the #1 rule is the value of the item you are trading cannot be higher than $5. Just about everything given away by Allure is over a $5 value :(

Personally, I have a hard time trusting people when it comes to trading (even though there are a couple of ladies here that I would send stuff to no questions asked)

I was wondering how many of you rely on the Ebay feedback / rating system, since in that case there would be a solution to make the whole thing a little more secure:

Someone, let's call the person "the banker" (Me or anyone who has too much time on their hands) could start a multiple items auction with each item (which would be called "Trading club membership fee" or something silly) going for 1 cent. Any SDer who has a perfect feedback score on Ebay (achieved with at least 20 feedbacks) could buy the item and pay with Paypal (confirmed address a must).
Now "the banker" has the confirmed address and Ebay account of the buyer and puts the buyer's SD name on a “safe to trade with" list online.
It’s still not perfect, but at least there is some sort of trustworthiness established.

Hope this makes any sense. :confused:

I do have to count my blessings that I got a product test that is coming the middle of August ( hopefully) ...I would LOVE to spend my points..I would not mind though knowing what I was spending it on. Someone, let's call the person "the banker" (Me or anyone who has too much time on their hands) could start a multiple items auction with each item (which would be called "Trading club membership fee" or something silly) going for 1 cent. Any SDer who has a perfect feedback score on Ebay (achieved with at least 20 feedbacks) could buy the item and pay with Paypal (confirmed address a must).
Now "the banker" has the confirmed address and Ebay account of the buyer and puts the buyer's SD name on a “safe to trade with" list online.
It’s still not perfect, but at least there is some sort of trustworthiness established.

Congrats to all you getting in on all the great PT, and getting to cash in points! I still haven't got to PT anything or an email to cash my points in but I did get to cash in my points last time around (I got the 20 point beauty booty which was a cute compact shaped like a tape with eyeshadows, & lipgloss, 2 aveeno sunblock packets & a great lash mascara so overall I was happy w/ it) and now I only have 19 points go firgure, so that proably why I haven't gotten the current email? I think a trading thread would be a good ideal!

I have yet to receive a redemption email from Allure but I'm not overly upset about it since we can't choose what we want now and I'm not big on surprises. It would be nice I guess, just to see what they send.

As far as trades, I'm not a trading person but I do give things away with no expectations from the other person but that's just me. I've given a number of great products away to very special people on this board since I've joined, most recently I gave away the Fatgirlsleep that I won to a dear friend (who happens to have given me things in the past but it's never a trade as such). I just take such joy in giving things away (heck, my former neighbor has gotten literally hundreds of dollars of stuff from me since she isn't allowed on these types of sites at work - her dad was fired from his $150,000 a yr. job for being on the net where he wasn't supposed to be :eek: ) but I know that lots of people are into trading and that's good too. Just be careful of course. I've seen too many people burned over the years at other boards and even when they had a bad traders list. Afterall, you don't get put on the list until you've screwed someone. ;)

My family and friends are the same way. They're always so grateful for the goodies I pass their way. They're always getting goodies in the mail and when I visit. Plus, Christmas is TONS of fun now :nod: I do a box of random goodies and wrap them all...and pass the box around after everyone's opened their other presents. It's so funny to see what everyone gets.

I accepted the beauty product for 40 points earlier this month. I hope that it's a better deluxe gift than the 20 point offer,otherwise I'd be disappointed. For those who did the 20 point gift, have those points been deducted. My 40 points still show up, but someone upthread said something about them not being deducted for 10-12 weeks until the item ships, I guess.

About the trading idea, I 'm completely open to it. I've traded on other threads like dvdtalk. A couple of ways it's worked on those sites, if if the person has no trading history and is trading with an experienced trader with positive ratings, then the inexperienced person sends first, then once the item is received the experienced person sends on their end. Another way is the blind faith method, you know the person or trust based on postings. Finally, if the person is an ebayer, then you can look at their feedback. It takes faith, but I've used all three of the methods in the past and I've never been burned, thankfully.

Afterall, you don't get put on the list until you've screwed someone. ;)

I am curious what we will all get too. My last redemption was 20 pts. I think a few ppl said that this time their emails said about 40 and 20 pts. I had 52 or 62 pts this time, so I dunno what "level" they will redeem me at. I don't remember if my email said so this time around. I read it so quickly after coming home that day from the beach with the kids and then just clicked the link and did whatever I had to do - fill in address I think. I can't even remember now. Anyway, hope we all get something good and hopefully everyone who has been waiting on the email gets it!

I got this too and I had gotten in on the 28th PT. The email also asks for my thoughts about the product. I'm very excited for getting a Chanel mascara -- kind of makes up for missing the entire August Allure Access after sitting here all day (really wanted the Dior mascara).

Congrats to everyone on the new emails. The only PT I've gotten from them was the Neutrogena mascara and I haven't gotten an email for the beauty benefits rewards.

Hmm, I got the email and am confused - do you guys think it's the previously unidentified PT some of us got earlier (my original message didn't mention what product it would be but am pretty sure it said it'd arrive in August) Or could this be the unidentified prize my "pretty points" were redeemed for? Or a magical mysterious third itrem (which would blow my mind).

they seem to chose when you'll redeem your points, what you'll recieve, and how many points will be taken from your account...seems like a dictator is in charge ...but I'm still VERY happy with this site... I think they do it this way so it's less complicated for them...but I don't spend a lot of time on their site (nothing like Bzzagent) and they are finally sending stuff out ... so I feel grateful.:yummy:

They will send an email to verify your address or will provide you with a link to choose a gift. Either way, you'll have to wait for Allure to send an email with information. HTH :)
