I put off answering their "important survey" for too long and it closed. I'm still receiving $5 surveys (although I don't think I get as many as I once did).

Me, too. :sadwalk: I emailed them to ask if I could please still take it and all I got back was a stupid form response saying we're sorry, it's closed, please wait for the next one. No sh!t, sherlock. I know it's closed and if you don't let me answer the question one way or the other, there may not be a next survey.
I got one paid survey in July and I cannot even remember the last time I got a PT. :crying2: I used to get at least 3 paid surveys a month, usually more and the surveys were never such a pain to answer. I just took my 1st one since the 1st week of July & it was more like 5 surveys in one! It asked about 5 very different products. Very uncool, PC!

I think the past month was just a light month.
the previous month, I did almost 10 paid surveys.
then in july it went down
but august looks promising. i just got my first PT in a while...and someone obviously opened..and peeked to see what it was then re-sealed it. I guess they read the notes that came with it because that was all balled up in the box when I opened it. but get this...they re-sealed it wrong..lol.
I can't believe those bastards.
I am almost tempted to file a complaint.
who the hell is opening up my stuff?

either way...it's extra money and like someone said before, they could probably easily find people who would take these surveys for free if they were promised the PT at the end. none of the surveys I have ever taken have been longer than 15 minutes, save one. and they paid WELL for that long one.
maybe u guys are slow survey takers! LOL.

Last PT I got had my user ID and password printed on the paperwork. If your info was on your paperwork and you think someone read it you should get your password changed asap.

I never got a long survey either, about time I get one. I think you are right, it is because it is summer and also feel that the deal they did on us with the five to three sucked and I feel hook line and sinker also. Wanted to add I also agree we are taking it so what do we expect. Just like with the gas, we never fight back. What goosie says about why is true I bet also. Good luck and hope you all get lots of pc surveys.

I'm on $3, by the way.

That's about the way it's been going for me also. They send household questions all the time about things they should already know about member demographics, and do sneaky things now like try to get me to comment on new product ideas with household questions so they wont have to pay me.

My replies now - in retaliation - are to suddenly aquire 7 kids under the age of 18 living at home along with 5 cats and 3 dogs. :lmao:

I moved down from $5 to $3. I have received two surveys and two PTs in the last 3 weeks! I'm actually getting more at this level than I did as a $5 panelist! I'm pretty happy about it. I hope it works out for everyone.

Okay, I've posted about this in the past...since I moved down to the $3 level, now I'm up to 7 household question surveys and NO paid surveys or PT. Is anybody else receiving this many unpaid surveys??? I emailed karen and received a blah reply about how household questions help direct which paid surveys I get sent......

geez, I'm getting tired of so many unpaid surveys.

I'm no expert about PC in any sense of the matter. However, the questionaires are to qualify you for an upcoming survey. So you know that if you get a questionaire that they have a survey coming up within a couple weeks and trying to find the right person.
PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR QUESTIONAIRES!!! You will almost always figure out what the next survey will be about and once you figure it out you will be able to give the positive answers they are looking for to qualify for the survey.

And whoever said they now have 7 kids, 5 dogs and 3 cats....... you are so right!!! And you have every medical condition they ask you about. THAT'S how you get the surveys!!!

As far as the PT are concerned, I don't think PC has anything to do with that. In my opinion, and just my opinion because I don't know for sure, I think they give the survey results to whomever they are conducting the surveys for and they are the ones who determine who they want to PT. I suppose PC might narrow down the ones they submit, but I just bet it's the company that makes the final decision.

I've been taking surveys for PC since June of 2007. When I joined they'd already gone to the $3 surveys, but honestly I'm happy with $3/survey because I'm a marketing major and I'm interested in market research. To me, taking the surveys in general is interesting for the most part, even though some of them get kind of annoying and long. The money is just an incentive for me to further my research...on research. And honestly, it's a few extra gallons of gas I can afford a week to get to school, so I'm happy with whatever extra money I can rake in in my free time.

I get between 3 and 6 surveys per month. Sometimes more than that, but that's rare. I've only gotten two product tests from them so far, but one was a two parter and I ended up making $9 when it was all said and done, so I'm happy.

.And whoever said they now have 7 kids, 5 dogs and 3 cats....... you are so right!!! And you have every medical condition they ask you about. THAT'S how you get the surveys!!!

If you're being paid to do surveys for PC you should be honest. I don't really think it's fair to PC or their clients to lie about things just to get surveys.

As i stated in another post, i've been a stay at home mom for 2 years, and my husband just got laid off. I'm new to the site, so i'm really really looking for ways to bring in some more income, even if its just a little here and there, it helps!!! thanks so much!!!

For those looking to join, I googled some blogs and found a few people who are sharing email invites. So try that, you might even find a sign-up link or two. No guarantee they'll still be workign though.

Good luck.

For the millionth time, it's AC Neilson who runs PC and who hardly has a track
record of honesty. I always answered honestly but when, in the middle of a
recession, they try to force you into a lower pay bracket they open themselves
up to quality issues. Many users have avowed to lower their quality of work.

The whole I suddenly have dogs and cats and children galore didn't get me more
surveys. It was my way of responding to some sneaky and unfair tactics used
by them like not paying me. Do your homework please before attacking a vetran
user. ;)

Why do people even pay us for our opinions anymore when so many people lie about them????:shake:

By the way, I just got my first survey since refusing to go down to $3. Honestly, I'd rather get less (but still some) surveys and get paid more.

08-15-2008, 02:49 PM
I think it just slowed down...I am at the $3 and I noticed surveys went down the past month. I was told my someone in marketing that when sales are down (economic sales/recession) that the first thing cut by companies is marketing research. so it would make sense that PC would first try to pay less, then they are probably getting companies right now, so less surveys.

I am doing a product test for them right now. which is cool but that was the first survey I had in a month.

pidass15
08-15-2008, 03:27 PM
I've been getting them about once a week. Kinda long and redundant for $3 but I got nothing else to do at work...What else is good besides PC? I've tried cashcrate, I'm not into the points and giving out my info for registrations.

If you're being paid to do surveys for PC you should be honest. I don't really think it's fair to PC or their clients to lie about things just to get surveys.

I didn't lie about anything, I fit the catagory, 4 kids (15 year old still at home), 4 grandkids, between me and my husband all kinds of medical conditions, 3 dogs, 1 cat, birds, I buy a lot of things, shop around, use a variety of products etc. So I DO fit the catagories, however, the way you answer the ?s is how you are selected and you may be perfect for that particular survey, but 1st you have to qualify and in order to qualify sometimes you have to include in your questionaire things you are very experienced with although they may or may not be happening in your life at the present time.

Just got home and have a survey (not a questionaire) in my email right now.

For all you techies out there, visit the adobe site, will get a pop up to sign up for a 1 hour phone survey pays $50.00, yep $50.00...... do you make $50.00 per hour at your job????

I'm not going to assume you are not of legal age, but even then, you could
get a bank account as a pre-teen or teen.

You can use PayPal but I think (someone help me here) Pinecone requires
verification or you can open a bank account with next to nothing.

They probably have PM'ing turned off in their profile settings. There would be no other reason, out side of a weird and highly unlikely site bug, for you not to be able to PM each other. And I looked and don't have the option to either.

And unless I am not mistaken, it is not against SD rules to post where the link was seen, you just can't post the direct link to the sign up.

Ok I got this in email not two minutes ago but when I went to do it, says full already? Are they screwed up or something else going on?

"We have a brief survey available for you about your membership on the PineCone panel. We ask that you click on the link below to access the questionnaire and to register your choice with us on this important topic. This will take less than a 1 minute of your time.
Please click on the link below to be taken directly to these questions."

If it's about my membership then how could the survey be *full* if they want our opinion on how lousy they've become lately? If someone got this could you please PM me and just tell me what the questions were? I am rather curious... and since it's not about a product, don't see why it would be a big deal to tell this time... wondering if they are about to screw the rest of us over who stayed at the $5 level... or whatever is going on.

Geez, I'm up to the 11th household question survey without a single paying survey since I took the $3 incentive. This sucks

Edit, now I"m up to my 14th household with no paying survey. This is a freakin joke. The household ones I've been sent take for ever. I emailed karen and received a non response, something about checking my bulk mail in case I miss a survey. Well, they aren't on my PC homepage so I'm not missing anything. And I've been with them for like 5 years. Some way to treat a long-timer. :(

Well that is exactly what it was... a freakin' take it or leave it. I told them to shove it. I hope they enjoy all their future less than stellar research gleaned from desperate people who will mostly just say whatever they think they are supposed to at this point rushing through the surveys without any real thought or effort. I cannot imagine being so hard up for 3 freaking dollars that I would sit here and waste 30 or more minutes of my time. I would venture to say if anyone is that bad off then I can tell you right now how to save more a month than Pinecone is going to earn you... and that would be to dump your d@mn internet connection if you're paying for it. I hope the companies employing them to gather information is aware of what they've done and how it is going to completely bastardize the resulting information.

so glad i switched to $3... just checked my paypal history and I've gotten 8 paying surveys from them in the last 30 days. this opposed to about 1 per month for the 6 montsh previously. And I've had 2 PTs this month. Very exciting and totally worth losing $2 a survey when I get 7 more surveys a month.

I'd love to know about the peeps getting 4 pt a month and 8 paying surveys a month. I really don't understand. I used to get 4 at the 5 dollar rate. Now I haven't received on in almost 3 months. My demo/profile is exactly the same. I answer every household question survey. I have no allergies, health issues, weird situations, etc. I'm totally normal. Nothing at all has changed with me. I sent back a used PT three months ago and karen emailed me twice asking for it. I explained how I sent it back in the postage mailer. I guess if they didn't get it, they have decided to basically drop me from paying surveys??? Not my fault if they don't have tracking for a simple used beauty item that I mailed back. Such a shame. I"m really upset about this.

Well, I haven't gotten 8 surveys this month, but I've gotten 5 in the month of August and 3 PTs. I went all the way back in my payment history from them, and there were some months that I received 3-5 surveys in the past at the $5 rate. At the low point, I went 3 months without a paying survey. Now that I have changed to the $3 rate, I am back up to where I used to be. I don't really complain about the drop in money because 99% of the time, I'm sitting at work when I take surveys, so I'm gonna get paid for that particular time one way or another. ;) My situration might also be different because I use my PC money primarily for little things that I may pick up on EBay, not to supplement my income in a major way.

As far as your situation, I had that happen to me once. They claimed that they never got the product back and I was really worried about it, but I eventually got more surveys. Hope your situation works out, pixietwin. Good luck!

I never got many PT's, I have been a member since January and from Jan-July I only got one PT, and it was not fun at all, probably one of the most boring things to test  Then all of a sudden in august I got three PT's, which I am thrilled about. I have never had a pt I had to return. I am in their "younger" crowd (under 25, won't say my actual age :P) and I have no kids, so maybe that is what they are looking for right now. Some of us have been with Pinecone for a bit. We have participated with integrity; taking our time and answering honestly. Now we are being rewarded with "take less pay for the same work or we lose our membership on the panel."

I understand that the economy has more people willing to work for less, and I may well be forced there too, but the next step may well be "do it for $1 or you lose your membership" or even "do it for the free PT or lose your membership."

We have every right to be upset at this treatment and should be able to say so here, as members of SD, without being treated disrespectfully.

I opted out but I've been opting out of most survey sites lately. At this point I only have time and energy for focus-group type surveys and the occasional highly-paid one-off survey. They're more complex and take more time but have a much better return in terms of $ per hour paid.

Too bad as I always liked pinecone.

yeah I just did the downgrade survey. I switched, but I certainly won't be doing as many surveys as I did before. I'm glad I waited though. I must've done 5 or so paying surveys since the initial request to downgrade, which translates into 10 bucks that I wouldn't have gotten otherwise.

Meh, I enjoy doing the little surveys while i'm watching TV or listening to music. A few bucks for answering some questions while wasting time anyway > nothing.

And chiming in with the other guy, i've been trying to join pinecone forever now but the one time I found one of their banners I refreshed the page and it was gone. I will definitely be taking my leave then, but for now, $3 is fine for me, paying me for ten to fifteen miutes of the time I wouldnt have gotten paid for anyway, is still an all around good deal to me. So it's $2 less, that sucks, but at least it's something.

Better than a lot of the point based survey sites, anyway that take twenty surveys or more just to get to enough points to cash out for $10.

While I did not agree to the original paycut, I did break down and accept it this time. I haven't gotten a survey in about 2 months. However I will say this: if and when I get the new cheaper surveys, I will be putting much less then half the effort into completing them. Random clicks on buttons I don't read while watching the television. Half the pay, means half the work at half it's value.

I've gotten to the point that since many of the surveys out there are so time-consuming, I hardly ever take one for less than $3. Pinecone knows that's the tipping point for many people. Unfortunately, it's the basic law of supply and demand. I chose to stay at $3, but there's no guarantee I will take their surveys. If they drop me, at least the loss is minimal now. I will say this, if you really want to stay with them, be careful how you respond to their surveys, as I'm sure that now that they've dropped the incentive, there will be some extra quality control measures in place.

Yup. I just got dumped out of the system this morning. Screw Pinecone. The surveys took way too long and were way too boring anyway. Just don't be surprised when they dump out the 3 doller a survey members soon in order to do a sweepstakes only entry.

Exactly

Don't be surprised if that $3 goes down to $1 or $2 with the same (if not more) work involved.

I also told them to shove it...the $5 surveys were getting ridiculously long as is.

Yeah when they finally gave me the ultimatum, I told them where to stick it as well... and then sent them a snippy note about what I really thought about it... well it was polite... not really snippy... but I sure let them know I wasn't happy about it and that I had worked hard on all surveys I had done and felt I had earned that $5 each time and that I was sure the quality of their information was going to be severely degraded at this point... etc etc... that was a couple weeks ago and today I got a note back telling me *thank you for your comments and we will forward them to the appropriate department." Yeah... sure.

I did one Fri. I figure I should get paid today. Tomorrow latest.

I guess you didn't get the new member panel participation survey. They decided to change the payment structure again. From now on, you have to pay them $3 for every survey that you complete (household surveys only cost you $1). It's not in your survey history because they haven't received your check yet. It's a lot easier if you just let them deduct the funds from your PayPal account.

I have to agree that five was even little for what surveys we did that were quite lengthy. Gone are the good ole days. Don't you notice this in all aspects of life? It is not so easy to find free things and mystery shops are few and far between, surveyspot surveys you actually qualify for non-existant almost, corruption everywhere, don't you see it, it's the economy, everybody is hurting, well, almost everybody!

And the punchline is that some -will -pour money into their paypal just so PineCone can take it out! LOL! Hahaha.

Funny stuff- just like the SECOND email from Pinecone asking me (AGAIN) to answer "important" survey questions about my membership, which I already answered.

Gee, that second survey is not gonna be sent to every company that I ever did a PineCone survey about, along with all the other dubious stuff PineCone has done.
Oh yeah, that would make a company really want to spend money on bad data from PineCone!

OOPS, guess I DID send that to a lot of companies. As well as screenshots. And records of how many times PineCone delayed payment and blamed it on the company they were doing research for, that would look pretty bad for PineCone.

I took the $3 paycut when the first email came around. Since then I actually get a lot more surveys, about 2 a week (payed, not HH) and 1 or 2 PT's a month. I got an awesome one today.
So in the end, it worked out better for me. I'd rather get $3 and a few PTs, then $5 for just maybe 2 surveys a month. :dontknow:

The surveys are longer now though, and the HH's are ridiculous. I just do it while watching TV or bored. The only thing I really cant stand, is why is there never an option for "all of the above" when the "aware" and "bought" questions are there. That drives me nuts. Or at least make it so you can hold shift and select multiples instead of each square out of sometimes 50( like certain product brands have)..:annoyed:

Phew. That scared me! I am hoping that since I did that I'd be more eligible to get more surveys. I can't complain about it only being $3.00 since I didn't get in on this when it was $5.00. For me, it means a jar of strawberry jam from Trader Joes or peanut butter without weird stuff in it. It's part of a gallon of gas or a few cans of wet food for my furlings as a treat. It's not much, but three bucks is three bucks!

I chose yes, because I just have all the money put into my Paypal account to use on eBay for random things I need that I can get there cheaper. I'm a long time member of Pinecone and am so disappointed that "people" responded to their survey saying they'd rather be compensated $3 and get a sweepstakes entry than be compensated $5 for filling out the survey. I got the letter saying they were moving in this direction and got the impression that were I not to choose the $3 compensation that I could be dropped so I switched. Taking surveys does not seem to be worth the time now that they provide the lower compensation and I never hear anything from them about the sweepstakes winners. It's another example of companies finding ways to cut back. The money really used to help out and I would receive many more opportunities than I currently receive.
