So, I keep getting 1001 surveys that don't talk about being compensated. I ignore most of them but I just took the most recent one. I tried emailing them asking if I would be compensated and they just sent me a canned email. I'm not sure if I want to continue on with Pinecone if all I'm getting for my time is a "sweepstakes" entry because I honestly don't believe there IS a sweepstakes. If no one here has ever won it I doubt it exists.

I just took one too that didn't mention payment and was wondering what that was all about. The 1001 ones would always say something like expect compensation in a few days, and this one had nothing.

Yeah, I've gotten about 6 like this so far. The very first one I got said something about only getting a sweeps entry but the rest have been very vague and didn't mention any kind of compensation. It really makes me angry that I can't get a straight answer after emailing two different times.

I get frustrated in that we are paid $3 for ONE survey yet the survey just keeps going and turns into 2, 3 or 4 different surveys. Not really fair. And you can't see the amount of the survey left to take. I like how other surveys do that.

What really gets me is the the motha f'ing 16x16 grid that you have to make a selection for like 16 items based on 16 different characteristics. Finally get through that, and BAM another one!!
But yea, I ignore the sweepstakes surveys and I haven't gotten one in a few months =). Still get the household questions but I don't mind those.

Instead of just complaining, why don't you just drop out of pinecone? I did three paid surveys last night and just received funds in my paypal account about an hour ago. I have no problems with pinecone.

Whats hard to believe about it? I always get paid the next afternoon, and sometimes get 2-3 surveys a day (between long dry spells). We all know pinecone has gone downhill, but they are still quick with payments and its easy to ignore the non-paying ones.

I did a survey today that I actually thought was a fair length for $3 and was only about one product. Hopefully PineCone is realizing that cramming 3-4 products into one survey so they only have to pay for one is not right.

I am getting sick of the surveys that have 3 products as well. Just think a year ago we would have gotten 3 separate surveys = $15, now one LONG a$$ survey = $3

I really hope this wasn't directed towards me. I think it's fair to want answers to my questions before I do surveys that are 10-15 minutes long that I could potentially not be paid for.

I don't get a ton of surveys, but between pinecone & dollarsurveys, they cover my web hosting fees + a little left over. better than it coming out of my pocket. I used to use deposits from Gather...but it seems to take me too long there lately.

Pinecone has had surveys from time to time with 3 products in the same survey for years. The number of questions have been reduced for each of the 3 products and it has always been about the same length as compared to a "regular" survey with 1 product featured. Are the surveys with 3 products much longer now when compared to a 1 product survey? That seems a bit unfair.

You get a dollar for each survey via paypal. They usually pay mon-wed. I believe there is a thread for them here on SD. They don't have a referral program & I've never gotten any product trials, but I earn a few bucks each week there. Not a high earner, but a good filler.
hint: If you don't like the survey they give you, either hit skip or just close & reopen the page...you'll get a different one.

I still like PC. $3 might not be much but its better than nothing at all. Been with them just over a year and have earned $130ish so far. Pooled all the $$$ from when I cash the checks and its going to come in handy with vacation this summer.

I agree. It is nice to have at least even $3. Now if they try any funny stuff after this where they pay less or do only sweeps, then pinecone and I will go our separate ways. But for now, I enjoy the extra $$.

I just got paid today for one of those poorly worded survey emails (you know...the ones that are so vague, and give no clue at all about the $3.00 incentive anymore) that leaves it unclear as to whether or not it's a sweeps or an actual paying survey....so, I guess the best bet is to just do them all!

Yeah, that is what is throwing a lot of people off! The wording is just so vague :( No mention of an incentive anymore. As I mentioned in my post above yours, I *did* get paid this weekend for a surevy that was very vague, and had no mention of an incentive in the original email, so.......I am going to do all of them from now on, just in case.

I've been getting paid for all my PT and concept surveys. The only ones I don't is household and the ones that specifically say sweeps.
What I do is have a "Pinecone" folder, and I save all surveys I do there, and compare with my pinecone payments.
Although it's getting annoying everytime they want me to send a product back. I wish they would tell me that at the beginning and not after I used the product and got to do the follow up survey.

As a PineCone Research panelist, you are a member of one of the Nielsen family of panels. We'd like to advise you of an exciting new opportunity that you may wish to take advantage of. In the near future, Nielsen will be conducting a number of sweepstakes only survey opportunities in addition to the regular PineCone Research studies. More opportunities to share your opinions and to win additional cash prizes!!
Prizes will range anywhere from $100 to $5000. Subjects will cover a number of topics-- from the area of entertainment (i.e. movies) to telecommunications (i.e. cell phones). We'd like to know if you are interested in participating in these types of activities. Your participation is completely voluntary and will in no way impact your participation in the current PineCone paid studies. Should you wish to discontinue your participation in the Nielsen sweepstakes only surveys at any point in the future, you may email us at scott@pineconeresearch.com with this request and we'll be happy to note the change. As a participant in this Nielsen effort, you will receive a second entry into the PineCone bi-weekly sweepstakes for $500 each time that you participate (in addition to the prize being offered for that study) as well as have an opportunity to preview many new ideas in entertainment and other areas beyond those traditionally found on your grocery store shelves.
Are you interested in participating in these sweepstakes only activities?

After MANY replies to their emails and still no box I threw it away - I think it was about 3-4 months later. Wouldn't you know I got the darn box the next day. When they ask for the item back they do pay you for sending it back to them. You don't have to worry as they pay for the shipping, since they provide a prepaid mailer. I think you get booted if you don't send it back (since they track the item), or a possible chance of them filling a lawsuit against you.

When they ask for the item back they do pay you for sending it back to them. You don't have to worry as they pay for the shipping, since they provide a prepaid mailer. I think you get booted if you don't send it back (since they track the item), or a possible chance of them filling a lawsuit against you.
Ok, just curious cause it hasn't happened to me from that site YET..

They gave me two options to send it back or not to send it back and I picked NO. I hope that they don't hold it against me. But my hair is very dry, lol, and they made it really soft. I just cannot afford to five them up. I was searching everywhere for bottles them put it in but I couldn't find one.
they will bug you for months. I had a PT a couple months ago that they wanted back, but never got the box to return it. After MANY replies to their emails and still no box I threw it away - I think it was about 3-4 months later. Wouldn't you know I got the darn box the next day. I got out the plastic gloves and dug it out of the trash:mad:Yes they do bother you for months, and the funny thing is I was delaying because they had not sent me the package yet.

I when I receive a PT that was needed to be sent back they asked me to send it back in the box that it came in and use the provided prepaid label for mailing and tape to tape up the box. They even scheduled FedEx to pick it up.

Yeah I've been with Pinecone for about seven years now... wasn't terribly happy when they went to $3 & a sweepstakes entry, but I like getting the PTs and it's something to do when work gets boring, so what the heck. I'll stick with 'em for now.
I've been with them for years as well, but I am thinking about leaving. I HATE the way the surveys disable your copy and paste, because I use both of those all day long. Any time I start a survey I have to end up closing out of it to get my work done (I never have enough time to finish it all at once). It'd be sweet if I could leave it open and work on it, but alas.
I don't particulary want to leave, because I'm sure I could never return, plus I am wasting a spot someone who actually is able to complete the surveys could use. Sucks.
And I agree about the household questions being repetitve..I've been on this panel for over 5 years and I can't tell you how many times I've told them how many dogs and cats are in my household.

Yea, I know I can, but by the time I close it out and get back to work, I am irritated and don't feel like opening up again to have the same thing happen again right away. I understand why they don't allow copy and paste, but it is an annoyance for me since I use it every couple of minutes.

Dear Panel Member:
Spring is in the air! The winter chill is finally loosening its grip and the trees and flowers are starting to show signs of new growth. Speaking of renewal, we would like to ask all of our members to renew their commitment to maintaining security at PineCone Research.
As you know, Pinecone Research is a new products panel, and as such, maintaining the security and confidentiality of the intellectual property entrusted to us by manufacturers is taken very seriously and is a number one priority for Pinecone. And we need you to continue to be a part of the foundation of our security.
PineCone concept and product evaluations are to be kept confidential. At the beginning of every concept and product evaluation survey you’ll find a security agreement. When you type "I AGREE" to the security and confidentiality agreement in the questionnaire, you are agreeing that you and the other members of your household will keep the subject matter of your PineCone experiences confidential. We are committed to protecting your privacy as well as the privacy of our client's information, the products and ideas that they give us to test with you. Discussion of questionnaire topics, product ideas or samples with non-household members (includes but not limited to chat rooms, blogs and postings on bulletin boards) is a violation of your confidentiality agreement and will be addressed in accordance with our policies.
To learn more about member confidentiality, click on the attached link.
http://www.pineconeresearch.com/membership_agreement.htm
As a PineCone member, you will soon be asked to participate in studies with a new product picture format. If the computer that you are accessing the survey from is incompatible with this new format, the survey will prompt you to download ArtistiScope’s CopySafe Web plug-in. Feel free to download the plug-in. This will be required for future surveys and will avoid interruption to your survey participation.
To keep pace with the growing needs of our clients, you will begin to see more variability in our survey deadlines. The amount of time that surveys are available may be just a few days. We encourage you to check your e-mail regularly and notify us of any changes or upcoming absences.
Thank you again for your interest and confidential participation in the PineCone panel! We look forward to your participation in future surveys.

I love pinecone research. I have been with them for about nine years. I still enjoy it very much even though you now only get $3.00. Some surveys are short and others are a bit longer. I am glad that they come more often now. With all of the discussion about product tests I thought maybe we could have a discussion about the PT. I rarely get the products to test, even though almost every survey asks if I would like to receive it. When I do get them, it is usually for something not very interesting or new to try. I know they are sent randomly, based on the clients needs. Still, I wonder if there are any tips or tricks in getting the PT sent to you?

MrsJeffers

They usually pay for the surveys ending in 1001. Household questions that end in 3001 are not for pay . If you get the PT, you get paid for the survey for testing it too. These usually end in 2001

Hey guys, I was just starting to do a survey for a certain company that I don't do a lot for because their rewards are not great. But anyway Pine Cone was hosting the survey! I have never seen this so I clicked out, thinking I would hopefuly get the survey from them. Has anyone noticed Pine Cone hosting surveys for other people?

There is no way to know if you get a PT until they show up on your doorstep. Just because a survey asks doesn't mean it's coming.

Actually, Pinecone will send out an e-mail if you are receiving a perishable item for a product test. They have contacted me ahead of the PT delivery to keep an eye out for the product and that it contains dry ice and all.

i got the follow up for a pt & it said at the end "the manufacturer would like the product back. if you choose to send it back we will compensate you." then it let me choose yes or no. i chose yes (thinking if i chose no that i would get kicked out of pinecone). but when it says compensation, does that mean just the $3 for doing the pt, or will i get more?

I got that yesterday- it was more like a household questions survey than an actual study, didn't you think? Obviously it isn't paying the $3, but usually those are labled household questions. Oh well, I had another yesterday for a possible pt and focus group, so I'm not complaining. I'd love to win that $5000 prize!!

Has anyone had any problems submitting surveys. At the end it asks me if I agree or disagree to type it in in all CAPS, but I do and I cannot proceed and finish the survey? I had two this weekend where this is occurring. These are being done through the new vivaxis survey pages. One of the surveys are expiring today. I sent an e mail to Pinecone.

I've had problems something like this before after "I AGREE" to it. You have to look at all the open windows you have. For me they are minimized in the taskbar. Just a thought.

Pinecone is usually pretty good about getting back to you. Often the surveys have glitches/system issues and if you restart the survey it will typically start it again from where you left off. Emailing is also another good idea.

yes, if they are showing available in your account you can take them as soon as they show up there. Sometimes it takes alittle longer for it to get emailed.

That one you mentioned was specifically for the "sweepstakes entry" most of the 1001's still pay. You just need to read the print. They are trying to get more and more free opinions though from members. I won't take those surveys unless they pay.
