By participating in those things where you have to complete so many offers...blah blah blah.
Kind of like the Ipod Sweepstakes, I guess, although I don't know to much about that either.
Anyway I've seen the ads in the back of EGM or OXM or something, and I must say...they look quite tempting.

I have one for the xbox 360, I only need 7 more people and its totally free. It would be a lot easier if i had money of course so I could pay people to do it for me. If you ever goin into the market of these free prizes from referrals. its a lot, lot easier if you have a credit card.

I did these a few years ago and received a free 60GB photo iPod, a PSP, and an Xbox. But be careful not to do it through some fly-by-night website, do your research and find a company that will ship out the prizes. If you shoot me a PM, I can give you some good info.
I got a 360 elite a few months ago and are currently waiting on my ps3. Ill post pics soon.

freepay/gratis: WAS the best site out there, I got a free ipod mini and ipod nano from them. Had 7/7 for an xbox360 and they shot down my wife's referral...and then instituted the 90 day rule. Freepay sucks so much now...don't even do it.
offercentric: I've heard good things about this website, but nothing bad. I have personally never used them.
trainn.org: The BEST referral site out there now. No stupid 90 day window. I've used them and they credit quickly...but I have yet to get anything (i already persuaded too many people i know to do the freepay sites) I'm about to get guitar hero 2 for the 360 for free. I'm working towards a 360 and ipod. Pm me for details on trainn
Any questions? PM me.

For starters I find this entire practice unethical. No matter how much you slice it dice it, etc. this is a pyramid scheme.
Now about a year ago I found a site that lets you trade referrals with other people, thereby making this a trade scheme not a pyramid scheme. Anyway, I signed up for gratis and did the PSP and of course never completed all the referrals because a few shmucks bailed on me. Anyway just for kicks I checked back a year later and lo and behold they suddenly instituted a 90 day policy. Of course that knocked out my referrals and I never received notice of any 90 day policy. So I sent them a strongly worded email saying that they need to restore my referrals and/or give me monetary compensation. Obviously they never replied. So I am thinking of taking this to the next level, maybe BBB for starters and whoever else I can get a hold of.
So were you ever notified of the 90 day policy?

I do agree with the pyramid scheme mentality, it just boils down to it. I only "supported" it because I was actually able to get relatively free items (as in I had to do SOME work for it).
I logged onto my xbox360 freepay site and saw a notice that they were instituting the 90 day policy just a bit before they did...but by then it was too late to get some other referrals. Gratis just screwed themselves over and I heard there are class action lawsuits filed in a few states, NY especially.

Brbubba, sorry but I was thinking of a different accusation NY made against gratis last year:

Sorry for the mix up on the info...but google "new york class action lawsuit gratis" or something like that and you can find out more info on this. Again, I apologize for the misinformation

I got a 20GB iPod 4G (back when it was still a monochrome display) and a TV from Gratis back in the day. I tried to complete my offers for an iPod Nano (a completely separate site), and Gratis blocked my account under the false accusation that I was operating multiple accounts. So they basically screwed me out of something I rightfully earned. I spent months complaining to their customer service, and to the BBB, and nothing came of it, so I decided that I was through with them. Stay away from Gratis/Freepay.
Never tried trainn, can anybody elaborate on how their system is set up?

So BBB did nothing then? Or rather I should say BBB has no power, but Gratis never responded to the BBB complaint?

Did you check your account before that year time period? Did you just basically ignore the site during that year? Do you think it is possible they did notify you but you either didn't see it or shrugged it off?

I wasn't ignoring anything, I just never visited the site in that year time period. The possibility exists, but I am assuming since another poster also never received an email that they didn't send one. The bottom line is that I never received advanced warning and I think any company should at least respond to an email asking for a reinstatement or compensation.
And btw, your language frequently comes off as being confrontational. It's rather annoying, hence my comment in the other thread about you spending too much time in the podium.
And just for clarification, here is my rewritten version of that post in the non-confrontational version. "Did you ever get around to checking or logging into your account during that year? I wonder if the company actually sent out emails to all the customers and maybe yours just fell into the SPAM filter. Did anyone else ever get an email about their updated policy?"

Same exact setup as Freepay/Gratis. Join up, do an offer, have others do offers under you (or point system) and cash in for a free item, you can even switch between the account types and keep the credit from someone that signed up under you (i think its 50 points per valid referral). The only difference is there is NO 90 day window for you to complete it in. You also have a lot of choices concerning your gift, like gift cards, paypal payouts, or the actual item (ipod, 360, ps3) although the cash options are a little less than the cost of the console for the same amount of referrals.
Edit: also to brbubba...i meant if you googled that line you would find the same news...nothing on lawsuits against them for the screwing you over on referrals and the 90 day timeframe. Sorry again to get your hopes up.

I apologize if you are reading too into my posts. I never meant it like that. Perhaps you spent too much time in the Podium that you are reading too far into posts. :dontknow:
Personally I just don't like it when drastic accusations are thrown out against a company, so I was providing an alternate view and trying to get the whole story.
And just for clarification, here is my rewritten version of that post in the non-confrontational version. "Did you ever get around to checking or logging into your account during that year? So basically you are mad because I wrote too general. I suggest you lighten up a bit and don't think everyone is out to oppose you.

Gratis responded, but they fed the BBB the same crap that they tried to feed me. They refused to cave in, and the BBB just kinda ignored the issue after that.

Yes, Trainn.org is a legit site.
I just finished with the free iPhone 12 referrals (in 8 days! - it does take some work, but not too much effort), ...and now am doing the 360 Elite one.
If you want my Xbox 360 Elite link, or tips on how to get referrals, just pm me! (I believe we are not allowed to post these referrals on these forums) thx

Both items have shipped already and should be here soon !! I cant wait, they will go great once my TYS XBOX gets here :( LOL

i just ordered the guitar hero 2 bundle for the 360 and am working towards an xbox 360 elite and an ipod video. getting referrals is hard at first, you just have to keep "bugging" family and friends to help you, or you find some sites that trade referrals, which I might have to resort to (have done in the past though)...some people pay good money for referrals that "go green" (meaning you sign up under them, complete the offer, and get credited for it) and some people just want you to sign up under them and go green, while they do that for you.

Use the Referral system on Trainn.org.
The point system is good if you want to "continue" your account, once you achieve your goal (you can switch from Referral based account, to points based at any time), but it seems more difficult to get your credits with the points account (you have to buy/sign up for multiple things to reach 50 points).
does that make sense, or did i just confuse everyone...anyway, it is a little confusing, but I had to email them to clarify this also.
oh- let me cut and paste my email from them asking them a similar question:
---------------------
Hello,
Thank you for contacting us!
Unfortunately, there is a one gift per account limit when using the referral
account type.
You may, however, change your account type to the point method to
begin working towards another gifts.
The points method allows you to complete offers, earning points for each,
until you reach the cost (in points) of the item you wish to receive. Once
you have received enough points for your item, you may place your order!
In addition, when changing your account type from the referral method to
the point method, we do provide 50 points for each unused referral so the
unused referrals would give you a jump start towards your next item.
If you would like to do so, after placing an order using the referral
method, you may change your account type to the point method by visiting
the "My Account" page and clicking on the "Change My Account Type"
link for more information and, if necessary, process your account type
change request.
Please do not hesitate to contact us again should you have any further
questions!

Yeah that's what I thought at first (kind of). The way they make money is giving businesses lots of advertising power. Who wouldn't want a free ipod/360/ps3?!? It's a great hook, and the real money to be made is when people sign up, do an offer, have a few friends sign up and just forget about the site. They must make TONS of money on people doing offers and just stopping. That's why I make it my goal to finish every site I start, it took me a year to get guitar hero 2 for the 360 for free, and I'm still 1/5 on an ipod and 2/9 (hopefully 3 soon) on an elite, but I'm not giving up! Take advantage of the free items, just be willing to put SOME work into, as they say: "there is no free lunch":yummy:
