treat your coupons like cash. DO NOT HAND THEM OVER until everything is rung up. at that point hand them over 1 at a time or in like groups at a time, I find it helpful to say "3 of this coupon, 2 of that one...." and watch to make sure they get them all!

manu coupons are legally considered an "alternate form of payment" just like checks, credit cards, debit cards, cash, etc. You must maintain control of them or I guarnatee you will get screwed at least 50% of the time

Another thing...don't pay until the end if you're using a credit or debit card. Nice and convenient to swipe the card in while the cashier is doing your order but if for some reason (refusal to take your coupons) you need to just walk away, you may be liable for that stuff anyway (especially if the cashier is a *itch and runs it through when you bolt with nothing)

It's a sign of cowardice and weakness. If someone says no then leave the damn cart and walk away. No need to bring out the manager. More likely the store already has some rules that were passed down from their manager and will not likely change those rules unless there is a real good reason.

actually, it's usually poor training, and escalating to managers usually helps. when it doesn't, you now have the name of the management-level employee that is violating corporate policy and can remedy the situation with corporate-level CS.
you appear bent on attacking people posting in this thread. Please stop being a troll.

edit
after checking your post history, it seems like you are actually here on SD to call people idiots, rednecks, and trailer trash. A real example of class, buddy. ;)

My store takes internet coupons without any problem, but one thing that was really disturbing is that none of them could give me any information on the walmart brand water recall....

i have only had problems with ONE of the front end managers. So if she is around, I avoid her, and ask for upper management. I know the front end manager has been disciplined several times for the way she has treated me and my coupons.

went there Friday, the first cashier was not willing to take the printed DVD coupon. She even asked the manager around her and she just won't try to see if it works. Then I lined up again, and the younger Caucasian lady finally took my coupon no prob!

Looks like I am going to have to print out there policy & keep it with me, I had my first problem with my store last night, I had a IP CP and cashier took it without any problems but after I was done checking out & was grabbing my stuff to leave another employee walked by & the cashier yells out hey is it ok that I took this Cp? Whats the new policy on printed CP's and illegal CP's! I was so pissed because there were people behind me in line! She didn't have to yell like that then say Illegal like I used an illegal CP ( I can just see me sitting in jail, so what ya do I used an illegal CP you? lol...) People are so dumb some times!!!

I definitely would have been mad too. I've actually seen something similar to happen to someone in the same line as me at Walmart. Turns out something else was going on too and that was the final straw. The cashier was new and got fired on the spot.

So I went to Walmart today with my Free Golden Oreo Double Stuf coupon. The cashier said she had to ask if they could accept it, and the person said no. I asked why and they said it was company policy. Needless to say, I will be returning tomorrow with this policy, and both of my coupons.

Be aware that anything with the word "free" on it is going to arouse suspicion no matter where you take it. Many stores around here won't accept any coupons which have the word "free" on it (even if it's buy one get one free)

The same thing nearly happened to me at my local Stater Bros. w/ the same Golden Oreo Double Stuf coupon.. She politely explained that they don't accept internet coupons, especially if it says free. I, however, showed her that it wasn't an internet coupon, but one that was sent to me by snail mail. I think she let me slide this time, since I also had another free coupon for coffee creamer that didn't look as if it came from a printer. Seriously, if only the Golden Oreo Double Stuf coupon was more embossed or printed on much harder/glossy paper, I wouldn't have had any problems.

I just tried using my FREE Excedirin coupon and $1.50 off Kashi crackers coupon and they were refused. The cashier and CSM claimed that they don't accept coupons that don't scan. This is the worst Walmart I've been to and I really should've driven the extra 15 miles to the other one. They accepted both coupons last time without a problem and their managers are actually somewhat intelligent. I called 800-WAL-MART and am hoping for a refund or gift card.

I just used my Just For Men coupon at WalMart today. It was for a "FREE" shampoo-in hair color. Clerk had no problem with it. In fact, we have used "FREE" coupons a few times without any hassle. We are usually nice and put the "FREE" item last on the register so they can quickly look up the value. I've had clerks thank us for that.
When I say "FREE" it means the item was "FREE" after using a coupon. Don't want anyone to think there are free coupons out there in the world ...LOL.

I do like "window shopping" at Target. There are always long long lines at checkout. I can't remember how times I abandoned my stuff and walked out of Target. There are about 40 checkout counters but less than 10 are usually open. Why have so many checkout counters while they'll only open a few? I do not have check out problem at Walmart, never!

WOW, Target is usually really good about opening a new checkout lane when there are more than 4 people in line. Sorry.

Not in Rockville, MD OR in Gaithersburg.... as far as I can tell you with my recent experiences Target has really been sliding the way of Kmart lately and pretty much forced me to go back to wally world, which stinks on ice.

Target used to be a clean looking well stocked store and checking out was always immediate, the last half dozen times over the last six months it has been just the opposite, dirty isles, poorly stocked both in quanity and placement, and long long lines. Four out of the six trips I just abandoned my cart and left because there were four cashiers and 50 people trying to check out.

walmarts system wouldn't even take off the automatic 10$ off for toy story 1,2 combo and since it didnt do that i took my coupons to target and got it. walmarts polices ever since the OG owner died has screwed the employees and the customers.
they are not about them anymore they are 100$ pure corporate.
i recommend people shopping at fred meyers. they main goal is making the customer happy at all costs. and it works, prices are cheap, customers are happy as hell and workers love working there

Any links that show Wal-Mart will or will not take a coupon with a price match? Seem a little silly, but I told the manager I can use the coupon in the store that has the item on sale, why can't I use it with a price match? He agreed but I would like to have something in print for the next round.

Ok guys, I have just a really quick question about Walmart's return policy WHILE using a manufacturers coupon. I used a coupon to buy a blu ray disc today and realized I already bought the movie (just without the damn slipcover which through me off). So I'm gonna have to return it. What happens to the coupon amount when I return it??? do they refund just what I paid or do they return the coupon price as well like Target and Best Buy do??? Basically I wanna know if I'm screwed out of my coupon or not.

Not sure how they will refund the amount. You might call them and ask and if they won't refund the total you could always try returning it for store credit at the full price saying you lost your receipt. Its been years since I've returned anything to walmart and their return policy may have changed but last time I did they were fairly easy if you didn't have the receipt to at least get store credit if they wouldn't refund the money.

They usually return the product value plus tax including however much the coupon was for unless you try to return on the same day then they may try to check the cash drawer to retreive the coupons. HTH!

Geez, just spent 15 minutes telling the cashier and MOD that 'per purchase' on the coupon does NOT mean per transaction but it means per item purchased. Frick! I told them how I get so tired of dealing with coupon issues every time I go to the store. I had three identical items and three identical coupons. Tried to tell me that it's one coupon per purchase total. I was like NO - per item. Back and forth. Then they said they'd take them this time - like they are doing me a favor. I have had the same conversation at their store earlier on Monday where a different cashier. If I have 3 cans of Bush beans for example - and 3 coupons that are all 55 cents off - try to tell me that only one coupon is allowed because of the 'per purchase' wording. I wish these coupons would correct that and say per item purchased or something so that MORONS know what it means.

If it is open then they wont take it at all because of copyright laws, not even give you store credit with or without a receipt dont matter. all you could do is a even exchange for the same movie which in your case wont help, and if it is sealed then they will refund you the amount that u paid after the use of the coupon.

I posted this in the lounge in the wee hours of the morning last night, but felt that I should have posted it in the coupon section. I look and did not see anything about this being posted,so if its a repost,sry....

I know some people have had problems using internet coupons at Wal-Mart. Well they do take them.

This should solve any problems that you may have had at the checkouts in the past. Copy, paste and print this out and next time you go to Wal-Mart take this with you...Good Luck!

I've used coupons a few times that I printed out online and didn't have a problem till tonight. Cashier said they wouldn't take them since 'there was a website that printed out fake coupons and stuff.' I just told her that I've used them before without problems, but she didn't even bother to listen to me.

I'm tempted to take all my shit back. I even bought stuff I really didn't need because I had coupons. Should I take them back or call Wal-Mart first? I would have only saved like $7 if I was able to use coupons, but had I not bought the stuff that I didn't need I would have about an extra $25 in my pocket.

I've noticed more and more sites stating that not all stores will accept internet coupons--I'm assuming it's because there are so many fraudulent coupons out there. I don't see WM moving to stop taking i-coupons, altogether, but if they are losing enough money, they will likely force the vendors to do something to curb the fraud. They have that kind of power in the marketplace.

I had two coupons that would not scan this week, at my local WMSC--one was the Ritter Sport B1G1 from FB; the other was the La Creme B1G1. The cashier called over a CSR, and she told her to put them through as vendor coupons and write the price on them. That's it--no big to-do over it. I'm puzzled as to why they didn't scan--that's the first time that's happened to me in a very long time. Other coupons that I printed off at the same time scanned just fine <shrug>

Seriously you should've just abandoned the stuff there (while you were checking out) if you wanted to make a statement if the cashier insisted on being an ass about IPs. We did that once...after consulting with the front end person (manager?) she insisted that they all had to be fake so we just said "screw it", left everything and bought the stuff somewhere else.

if you have problems talk to Store Manager or even Asst Manager. Try to avoid the line cashier supervisor. They tend to backup up the cashier.

Note: They might use take their talking to the supervisor or manager. You may have to wait as long as 15 minutes.

I was told today that they wouldn't take internet coupons. I said o yes you do. Said I would go to different cashier, but walmart does take them. She called super and she said no longer take them for free items from internet, but let me use my coupons. I said they need to solve problems with manufactures on this because it costs consumers to print these leggit coupons and be told can't use them. May check with corp since they are out of my state. Will let yall know results.

I have no clue what coupon you 'got tips' about but that statement is just stupid of who ever 'they' are. Fake Q's can be printed in color just as easy as B&W if that is what someone faking coupons wants to do. Idiots!

There are 177 Walmarts in California as of April 2010 (yes I checked).
Not knowing where, other than California, you are doesn't make it easy for someone else in California to offer in advise other than 'they' are wrong.
Print the coupon policy and carry it with you.

Now you are saying YOU work at Walmart?

I'm posting my story to encourage others who get resistance from cashiers and CSMs. I attempted to use the B1G1 free coupon for Athenos hummus and a coupon for free Tropicana (mailed through coupons.com) . I printed the Athenos coupon through coupons.com on Athenos' Facebook page. The cashier was very kind and just following orders but she went to her CSM to determine whether or not she could accept the coupon.

The CSM came back and told me that they don't accept internet B1G1 free coupons. The CSM kept telling me how the coupons are a scam and that Wal-mart doesn't get reimbursed for the coupons. I told her how many stores have copies of the fraudulent coupons and this is not one of them. I asked for the store manager but he was not working. The CSM called for a Zone Manager and she backed up the CSM. I then asked if there was anyone above her and she said the Assistant Manager would be back shortly from her lunch break.

I asked the Zone Manager if she could print out their coupon policy from corporate. She printed out the policy and referred to the directive to "not accept photocopies of internet coupons." The Assistant Manager came back and I explained to her and the Zone Manager that it was not a photocopy and I had to explain the difference between internet coupons and photocopies.

The Assistant Manager allowed me to use my coupons (as a one time exception) but I was more worried about the next time I try to use internet coupons. After pressuring her to accept them in the future, the Assistant Manager said she would research it further to determine if they will accept them. She told me to ask for either her or the Zone Manager if I have problems next time. Hopefully she'll talk to the Store Manager on Monday and confirm that they're supposed to accept all internet coupons.

This is the first time I asked for a Store Manager. It worked a lot better than simply asking for the CSM. I think it also helped my case when the Zone Manager looked at the directives from the home office and noticed that they're only supposed to refuse photocopies of internet coupons. I hope this helps others and encourages them to ask for a Store Manager if a cashier refuses the coupons.

Sometimes, it is best to ask employee to have the zone manager or or asst manager to come to you. In some cases, cashier or lower end employee will try to direct or mislead supervisor.

I have witnessed this at Vons, A safeway corporation, while standing next courtesy desk next to manager. The Vons employees, known for his dislike for coupon users, walked up to manager.

Vons employee leading the conversation, "This coupons looks like photocopy, right? This coupon really looks like photocopy." The manager looks at it quickly,"agrees." The employee runs back. The manager did not even take the time to look at it.

Employee and manager could say anything. How about those Chicago Cubs? How your Kids?

If there is really so much coupon fraud going on why not treat printable coupons like checks? Make you show id and put your id number on the coupon.

That way the people who really defraud them with fake coupons can be criminally charged, and the rest of us honest people can stop being hassled.

No, I don't really want to do this. IS it any more dangerous than presenting this same information every time you use a check?

I don't worry about employee's or anyone else knowing where I live. Try to do right by people, Love and trust God and take the proper steps to protect your property and family. IF some one comes to my home with ill intent, I worry more for them than for my family.

What is a Check? What is a Checkbook?

"They" would be the managers at our store. And I never said I got a tip about a specific coupon. All I was saying was that the store my friend and I work at WILL NOT accept coupons that arent in color.

Once again I am amazed how much BS people take from WM cashiers/csms.

I promise you if my black and white coupons were not accepted, you or whoever works at that wal-mart would get re-educated REAL quick on the corporate policy.

Store mgrs and above get paid VERY well, if they get reported to certain corp departments, it's not a good thing. Anyone under store mgr will not be as 'concerned' about denying your coupons even if it goes against corp policy. If you want to make sure your store is following the corp coupon policy, YOU will have to get with your store mgr... NOT an asst mgr, the name at the top of your receipt... and tell them their cashiers/CSMs/Zone (front end) mgrs need to have a refresher on the coupon policy. If they say they still won't accept *insert whatever stupid reason here* coupons, ask for the district mgrs name and number. keep going up, even if you get to corporate (don't call the 800 number, they're placaters). Make sure you know if your fight is correct before talking even to the store mgr. I would take B&W to corp if I had to, but I don't like to be told I'm wrong.:D

First, it would be nice to know what "them" are... IPs, b&w IPs, overage...

print the policy. complain up the chain 'o command. start with store mgr, the person who's name is at the top of your receipt, not some asst mgr. that SHOULD fix it, if not, ask for the district mgr's name and number. that REALLY should fix it, if not, ask for the Zone VP's name & number, or call corp direct, p.m. me it you have need of corp's info.

I'm like a dog with a bone with this stuff. I wrote down every person's name I talked with and what their stupid excuse was for ME being wrong. I also KNEW 100% that I was interpreting the corp policy correctly by researching online first. I only wish I could have seen the store mgr's face when they got the call from corporate.

actually went to WMSC today and used my $2 pampers, $2 crystal light q's and some IPs and the cashier said 3x "wow, you're getting a great deal!" No problems today

When I asked the cashier why she couldn't take the coupon, she said that they no longer approve FREE coupon anymore. Has anyone experienced like this? I'm in souther CA.

It's their policy to not accept FREE internet coupons. I was rejected back several months ago on the DoubleStuf Oreos, but the cashier let me slide the one time because I also had another FREE coupon that wasn't Internet (I redeemed the coupons the first day of the Lunar New Year)

Since the companies who are doing these promotions are only sending out a limited number, they should just make these coupons more specialized i.e. glossier/stiffer paper, sticker like with the Free Nestle Butterfinger coupon that was on Facebook.

There is a Southern California grocery thread that covers Stater Brothers.
I have used that coupon at Stater's with no problem at all.
You don't mention where in 'souther CA' you are. Some stores are more coupon friendly then others and ours are very coupon friendly.

Most stores will take the color, mailed coupons. I have not had a single mailed Q denied nor a IP for free items.

Used my Ritter Sport B1G1 coupon from FB the other day. The cashier had to check with the woman running the front because it involved getting an item for free. I think the size of the coupon (more than half a page) also raised eyebrows but it was immediately approved.

I then had to explain what Ritter Sport chocolates were about because neither of them knew the brand :P

I was told that Walmart does not accept internet printed coupons for a free or BOGO. They said there are no FREE or BOGO coupons that are legit if they are internet printed.

why not write walmart directly and complain?

on a separated/related matter, check this out. target had a sale on an accer netbook....but i was closer to staples (or was it OD - i dunt remember). so i go to staples adn ask if they price match...luckily the manager was there and said if the specs r the same, yes price match will be done. k so when the clerk looked the price up on target's website, the price shown was not the price when added to the shopping cart......and he said that the price match doesn't apply to the price before adding the item to my cart.

so that night, i emailed staples and was assured that i'll get a call from the same store manager and he would meet the price as seen on target's website. the price of the accer netbook, at that time on target's site was usd 199.99. so i did get that netbook along w/extended warranty (yes, i do get those) and will be bringing that netbook w/me to italy for my 2 week trip beginnign sept 8.

Went to wal-mart the other day and picked up about 12 items. I had two internet coupons and a coupon I found attached to a box in the store. I went to the nearest 20 or less checkout and handed the lady my coupons. She bagged everything up and then looked at the coupons very suspiciously. She mumbled something about counterfeit coupons and said she had to check them out. She left and was gone for almost five minutes. She sauntered back over with a paper in her hand with several columns of "illegal coupons" or whatever. She stood there with the first coupon and read every single item on the page making sure it wasn't on there. She then stood there with the second coupon and did the same thing. It took me over 10 minutes to checkout at the speedy checkout because I tried to use TWO internet coupons. Get real! They were obviously legit.

I just terminated my employment with WalMart a week ago. Policy states that we can't take printed coupons or face reprimandation. If you understand how coupons work, then you'd realize that if it's an illegitimate coupon, they don't get credit. The company is losing money because of this, so they're cracking the whip on register operators.. So don't get all hissy with cashiers if they don't accept your printed coupons. Just calmly ask to speak to a CSM or member of managment. I was told by a member of managment though, that if they look legitimate and they scan, we can put them through. But if they don't scan then we werent authorized to put them through manually.

Long story short: If you can use your coupons elsewhere, do it. It's going to save you time and a headache. Ive learned from employment not to use my printed coupons at walmart. Just do the same thing.

It sounds like a local store policy or regional area policy!

Or, it could be a corporate ploy to get rid of people especially long term employees. If employee works there long enough with pay raises, then replace them with cheaper employee. If you an save a few cents per employee, it save on the store or corporate line.

I have seen and witness this type creative corporate downsizing. Being in management, I even invitingly participating in it or aware other departments were doing it.

So...I went to my local WM yesterday, bought a few things, used two coupons.

Hellman's was on sale for $2.98, and I had a $.75 coupon, making it fairly slick to me. The cashier was a student that I know well enough, and she said she wasn't sure she could take the coupon. She left to ask the front end manager (or whatever that position is called), and after talking with her, she went to see the assistant store manager, who is unfamiliar to me.

The cashier came back to me and said she couldn't take the coupon; that the FE mgr said she could but she remembered them being told that they could NOT take it, so she asked the assistant mgr, who said they couldn't take it.

Rather than hold up the line any longer, I told her not to sweat it, and took the coupon back. When I was done, I went over to the assistant mgr and stuck the coupon in his face and said, "...and you're not taking this coupon...why?" and smiled at him.

The employee with him said that there were fraudulent coupons floating around, that they were even scanning, so they weren't taking them. I told them I was in the store several times a week, and they had never once denied me using a coupon. (Unfortunately for me, this was later than I usually go to the store, and the employees and store manager that know me were not around). Also told them I was well-aware of there being fraudulent coupons in use, etc. (It's not like I go in there with dozens of coupons at any time; I think max I've ever used in one shot is like ten )

They gave me my $.75 (it's the principle, damnit! LOL), and I suggested to them that they review their coupon policy because each employee seems to think something different about it.

I just fired off a long email to corporate, making suggestions on how they might improve the implementation of their policy. I was quite nice about it all, but I want an answer from them. I'll let you know if I get anything back LOL

Walmart is a country unto itself and just makes things up as they go along. Even if you say "Oh well I'm not shopping here anymore!" they just got millions others to take your place anyway so they don't care.

I won't stop shopping there, either, regardless of their answer. On any given day, their prices are far better than those of their only competition in our town--Brookshire's. If they won't accept my coupon, the item is still going to be cheaper than buying it at B's, unless B's is running a sale that week.

It come down to intimidation! They do not want you shopping with coupons. The more the hassle, the less likely you come back.

Walmart is so large, the largest retailer in the world. Your not shopping at Walmart is not lost. You can tell 10 other people, it still does not matter even 100 or 10000 people.

Idid not have any problems with them beeping, but employee did not know how to enter them into the cash register, so he had to call a CSM . The CSM told me that I could not used them becasue the value amount of the coupon was higher than the item.( 2pk .94) I pull out the coupon policy out and had her read it and she still said "no"

I put everything back and left the store.

Yesterday, I tried to use my Advil coupon (mailed from the Manufacturer) at Walmart. The computer did not recognize the coupon and the cashier said she could not override the computer. I asked for the store manager, she called the CSM, who then called the Assistant Manager. I showed them the product and coupon but the Assistant Manager took the "I don't want to lose my job for violating policy" approach. I had them void the item and I left without the item. I told the Assistant Manager to have the Manager call me tomorrow. The Assistant Manager was the highest-level manager in the store.

After leaving, I called 1-800-WAL-MART and filed a complaint. The next day, the co-manager called in response to the corporate complaint. He told me that he retrained the CSMs and showed them the coupon policy. He also assured me that he would retrain the Assistant Manager. I received much better treatment from the co-manager. He was much more customer-oriented than the Assistant Manager. He assured me that I am welcome to come back and use the coupon and that I won't experience this problem again.

it seems at the stores around here the cashiers FINALLY know what an IPQ is and how to verify it, like if you have 2 or 3 of the same kind. the old lady cashiers lay the same kind out together and look them over VERY well before scanning them.

I have been using coupons for over 6 months now. The ingles grocery stores around me have completely stopped taking them. I have had a few problems at wal-mart, but most of them take my coupons.

I found that if you find a young girl and flirt a little with her, it helps. And if you just talk to older ladies about the weather, they'll usually put them through with no problem. I shouldn't have to do this, but it definitely helps. Sometimes they'll check with the manager, but most don't. I've only been completely denied once, and I completely canceled my order, and went to the wal-mart across town.

i guess i can understand the smaller grocery stores like heb having to be a bit more strict with IPQs, as they are much, much smaller chains and cant as easily absorb problems with IPQ redemption at store level, as the giants like WM can. MW can probably lean on a vendor to get all Q credit, esp. if the vendor wants major business from WMs.

i have had the twins almost pop out at the register before - male cashier.

now when heb wont accept an IPQ, I just tell them that ill buy that at WM then.

i still dont ever see people using any Qs at the registers! i get some interesting looks sometimes from other customers behind me. some look at you like you are poor, which is fine with me! others look at you like OMG you just saved $10!!!

My company's CEO wife use coupons with her Coach, Fenda Zucca, etc and her BMV Key on the Check Writing Ledge. Some of those other customer should never judge book by it cover.

I had client who lived in the alley in shack of the large retail commercial building. He owned commercial building and many others. The restaurant in the commercial building will give him left overs. He will conduct business in his shack.

--------------------

WM is so large, they can demand a better way to redeem coupons upon receiving them from customers. They could even demand to redeem photo of coupon withing reason too.

i kind of like it when the other customers 'look down' on me for using Qs. what they dont understand is that i am making my money work for me in that i am getting more out of my money then they are. let them fuel the economy.

i must have been the 'wrong color/race' today at WM cause it looked like the cashier called security and then was whispering something to the manager while facing away. in the past i had to raise my voice at this cashier, insist that a manager come over to 'okay my coupons' and override the cashiers own made up coupon rules <G>, and emailed in at least once on the cashier. anyways the whole time i just kept my calm as im sure they were watching and kept telling myself that karma will prevail. sure enough. stupid cashier didnt count my change back to me and there was an extra $20! PFFT!

today at a WM, the cashier was trying to scan my Qs sooo fast that the machine was beeping at him cause he wasnt pressing the key to acknowledge the coupon amount. my total was 12 cents. O.O i paid, took the receipt and RAN out! according to the receipt the cashier double scanned a few Qs!! O.O although this is the Q-friendly store, i guess this was karma paying back for all the trouble other cashiers try to cause over Qs.

Our walmart hasn't taken internet coupons since the big fallout of the covergirl lipstick and electrasal coupons back in 2004. They've had signs on the register saying they will not take internet/printed coupons for 6 years now.

Tried to use a MQ printed off the Target CAT and was denied because it said redeemable at Target on it. The cashier confirmed with the CS Mgr. I then asked to see the store mgr, the cashier went and got someone which I found it was another CS mgr. She told me she knows the store just like a mgr. I asked for the corp number she said to go to CS. I realized while heading to CS and deciding to stand in line that I was overcharge for an item, went back to her, she went and came back and told me that was the price and told her I wanted my money back. She does a refund, won't give me a copy of the refund. I was irritated by this time and told her she should know corp's number and I wanted to see a store mgr. She goes and I see her talks to another employee and over hear her saying about I was asking for a mgr. So I see her coming to me and she has her arm up over her name tag so I could not see she was a CS mgr. I let them have it. Finally got to see a asst mgr and let him know the whole thing. Well in the end he gave me the item that was over charged for free.

now days when a cashier tries to be difficult i dont even engage them, but in stead very firmly and loudly say "CALL THE MANAGER OVER HERE RIGHT NOW!" usually at that point the cashier is thinking 'oh no what did i just get myself into' and they are looking for a hiding place under the register. <G>

i swear if i ever see another cashier/mgr. employee at any store with their name tag turned over, im first going to make a scene about it and bring it to their managers attention, then im going to call/write in with the offenders cashier number from the top of the receipt and their name just to call them out for purposely flipping their name tag over. its rather obvious what they are trying to prevent and that they have been called out before by some other customer for some reason.

im learning to avoid the old bitties (lifetime cashiers) at WM. they are the ones that like to ad lib the coupon rules to their own liking/understanding.

Ran into one of these and I haven't been back to Wal-Mart... think she used to be a CSM, but she's been there for a while. I knew I was in trouble when she stared at my first MQ reading it line for line and then it went awol when she saw a coupon I was using had overage... and that with the coupons I'd compiled I'd be paying next to nothing. If I ever coupon @ Wal-Mart again I'm carrying the coupon policy with me so I'm not victim of whatever policy they or the front end level manager's "think" the policy should be.

My coworker gave me her Chef Requested $3.00 coupon with her name on it.

Note: I am paying in Cash.

The Walmart Cashier would not accept the IP coupon because my name did not match the name on the coupon. The coupon has name Sandy (male or female name), wrong gender. She wanted to see my ID. I told her, they do not care on who use the coupon. How would manufacturer know if Sandy is male or female. Note: I am paying in Cash (repeated it again for comedy).

I decided not to argue with her. Trying to rationalize or use logic with cashier would of been useless. Some of these Cashier are scare to death from using common sense.

What if the internet coupon was copied? I once printed out an internet coupon, and then made copies of it. I had no problem using them most of the time at Wal-Mart, but then suddenly one day I got this old man... and he initially put it through... and then said "oh, is this copied?" I told him it was... and then he took the discount back off. I've never had that happen before.

Making copies (photocopying) coupons is fraud. Each coupon has unique serial number or pinn number. With each unique number, the retailer get reimburse coupon value + 8 ¢.

Photocopying coupons only allow the 1st redeemer reimbursement and everyone else a lost.

People who photocopy make it harder for legitimate coupon users. This reason why retailer or specific store deny IP coupon use.

Okay, the reason I did it was because I didn't want to print out a bunch of copies. Was easier to take the one coupon from the printer and then put it through the copying machine with multiple copies on one sheet of paper. It was more efficient that way than printing multiple copies and wasting paper. But I see your point now. Was the only time I ever did this.

Is anyone having any luck with the new policy to accept competitors coupons?

fabulessfrugal
03-28-2011, 10:45 PM
My friend Jessica put together some great advice for making the walmart trip a little easier. Here are a few tips to make your Walmart shopping trip successfull!

Price Match: Price matching alone can save you a lot of money, time and gas, and you don’t even need any coupons! (Produce is my favorite thing to price match.)
For those of you who are new to price matching, it means you can get an item at Walmart for the same price as a current competitor stores printed advertised price for that identical item.
If you are price matching, make sure to have the current ad, with the date on it, ready to hand to the cashier BEFORE they ring up the item you are price matching.
I like to place the items I am price matching (especially if I’m using multiple ads) on the belt last and lay the ad on top of them so I don’t forget to tell the cashier! Have your Price Matching Policy handy just in case!
Walmart’s new policy allows for overage: You can use it to pay for items you normally buy, but don’t have coupons for.

The Walmart coupon policy states:
“If a coupon value exceeds the price of the item, the excess may be given to the customer as cash or applied toward the basket purchase.”
So, if you use a $3.00/1 coupon on a $2.00 item, that item will be free, plus tax. The $1 difference is considered overage and will go towards the rest of the items you are purchasing in that transaction (like milk, produce or whatever!) If you are only buying that one item and nothing else, they should give you the $1 difference back in cash. Basically, you are entitled to the entire face value of the coupon, whether the item costs more or less than the coupon.
Be aware the time of day you are going shopping: I like to go in the morning when it’s less busy and the shelves are stocked!

If possible, avoid taking the kids: I often get distracted or forget to show the cashier my ad!

Do your homework ahead of time: Search FabulesslyFrugal for the latest deals and match-ups Have your lists, coupons and ads ready to go! You can even learn how to print a shopping list of our Walmart coupon match ups!

Ask a manager: If you are in doubt about a certain coupon, ask a manager about it BEFORE you start your shopping to avoid any problems at the register.

Check your coupons: Make sure all of the coupons you will be using are legible, have an expiration date, a valid remit address for the manufacturer, a scannable bar code and are NOT photocopied or duplicated! I’ve accidentally cut off part of an expiration date before and they would not accept the coupon. Don’t forget to look for the coupons with out size restrictions and check Walmart’s trial size section for any that match!

Be selective of your cashier: Try to stick with the one’s you know are coupon friendly or especially knowledgeable about coupons and the policies.

Make sure to have your: coupon/price matching policy handy! Please remember to always be polite to your cashiers/managers And Give couponers a good name!

If you need to contact the Walmart Corporate Office:
Call Walmart Customer Service — 1-800-WALMART (1-800-925-6278)
Or, Email your feedback to your local Walmart store or Corporate office.
Enjoy your savings!

the walmart i went to failed to honor competitor coupons, saying they changed policy, when it clearly said "accepts competitor coupons" above every register.

also the person who rang me up was the customer service manager.

i guess i'll take a print of the policy with me this week when i shop.

update: i actually ended up calling them after posting this on sd, and the lady on the phone was actually really nice, saying they should honor competitor coupons if its from the ad i.e. vons, albertsons, etc if it meets the following guidelines on their coupon policy.
-she also took my name/phone # down, to have someone from my local walmart contact me to "fix" the problem.

my 2cents - call corporate and complain if they give you a problem. also stay calm and don't be mean about it, just tell them, explain your situation, and you should be good on your next shopping trip.:bounce::bounce::bounce:

update 05/23/11: had to call again for an incident i had early saturday morning with the same person who rang me up last time i mentioned in this post.
supposedly the DM is going to look into this, and call me. we shall see....

Last week I tried to use a coupon that I printed from the internet for Buy 1 Get 1 Free on WhoNu cookies. The coupon beeped when it was scanned, and the cashier said that their policy is that internet printed coupons must scan automatically or they will not be accepted; they are not allowed to push them through or enter them manually. I told her to take the cookies off my order, but I was angry because Wal-Mart is the only store close to me that sells those cookies. I didn't feel like complaining to a manager because the line at the Customer Service desk was huge.

You could have asked a cashier or a csm to speak to a manager rather than stand at customer service for the same thing. You could always call 1800 walmart and leave your complaint and a manager at the store will call you.

Whenever you go to Walmart I learned this from customers. Make a scene or act very upset . Read the coupon to the manager only. If they deny the coupon write a long customer letter to them everyday about the coupon denying. The company head will do something they hate bad customer letters.I hope Walmart never opens in NY this is one of the reasons why they make so much money but deny coupons, matching prices, and taking care of employees properly.
