They do say in the front page that runners will have much less chance of recieving tests compared to other categories involving running.

I had been accepted, and gotten a pair, and must say they were great. I wish they would send me another pair, I was so :crying2: when I had to send them back. So many people commented on my pair, I won't say what they were, or specifics, but I got rave reviews from people the entire time I wore mine. They were the most comfy sneaks I've had on my feet, I want them back

Ok, I got this email yesterday from New Balance ( I think). I signed up a couple of months ago, and not heard anything until now. Has anything gotten this before? I just wanted to make sure it was legit (tons of typos, and it just looked kind of weird.) I replied to it, and also emailed the company separately, but I have not heard anything yet.. I would appreciate any feedback!
*Good Afternoon, (If you have at this moment a pair of New Balance shoes that you are testing please 2 things need to occur. 1 Complete feedback form for that style or test immediatly. 2 Send the shoes back so that the can get inspected and you can become available for this upcoming test.) I would like to inform you that you have been selected to participate inour next shoe test. I'm trying to confirm that you would be available toparticipate in this test for the next 6 weeks. Also that you will be ableto complete all feedback forms and return shoes on time. Please get back tome ASAP so that I can start sending the shoes if I don't hear from you in 2days I will select someone else in your place. Please keep in mind that even if the shoe look the same as a previous test,it's not necessarily the same shoe. We are constantly working on newtechnologies and a way to find out if there's noticeable differences is byusing the same style over and over. Other details will be appear on your test site, in which you will log in tosubmit your feedback form. If you haven't received a password or forgotyour password let me know I would be more than happy to retrieve thisinformation for you. Once you have logged on double check or confirm thatwe have the correct address, please don't send the address information. Logon to your site go to my profile and update it there. It's more secure thisway. Thanks for your time and effort in advance,

Registered my hubby back in January, and only got an acknowledgement email; never heard from them again.
Tonight a package shows up on our doorstep with his first PT. I am both surprised and jacked at the same time--we were going to go buy him shoes this weekend! The PT is only for a month, but that's one more month I can put off buying new shoes!!!

Hmm, hub wears a 14 and we haven't received anything yet. I was hoping he would get to test their workboot line. They cost an arm and a leg for a good pair in his size. Maybe we will get lucky soon. We signed up quite a few months ago though.

Sometimes on feedback forms we ask questions about whether or not you would buy the shoes in an effort to establish 'purchase intent' but this in no way should be viewed as a solicitation to actually buy a specific pair of test shoes! Test product is used exclusively for testing purposes and absolutely cannot be sold, as doing so would violate trade agreements.

So, with all do respect, why would anyone want to sign up for this, they get nothing but hassle in return it seems. Not trying to be a jerk, or TC, just wondering what the consumer tester gets out of this deal?

If you are accepted you will get shoes and or clothing to test (I have only tested shoes so far). One day you will walk up to your front porch and find a mysterious box and think to yourself "I don't remember ordering anything", then you will see the return address is Wear Test New Balance. :P

I guess it's just me then. Like I said, there was no offense intended, I'm just curious what, if any, are the benefits of doing this. Getting to break in a pair of running shoes for a few months doesn't sound all that appealing. Give em six, or twelve and mebe you've got something. I dunno, like I said, not trying to TC at all, just curious if there were at least some cupons or something.

You get to save money by not buying new shoes as often and decide if the shoes are a good fit for you for when they go on the market. Most stores do not allow you to return shoes after you have ran a few miles in them.

You keep it for as long as you have to test it, mine was a month, my husbands was a little less than a month.
You have to pay absolutely nothing, the box and prepaid shipping return label are alerady provided, you only have to drop it off at the nearest UPS shipping center.

1. You have to return the shoes. 2. The shoes may have marks on them so they look like testers -not pretty. 3. You have to spend your time doing the required activities and then spend more time filling out forms. Now, unless your somebody who enjoys wasting your time doing things for free for companies without getting anything in return, can you please tell me why in the world you would do this? There is no point to this except if you want to waste your time, and my time is too precious to be doing things for free for some company that already over charges on their shoes...sorry.

Why? To put miles on their shoes instead of your own, making it longer until you have to buy a new pair of your own. I know I'm a serious runner and go through shoes at least every three months. It's an expensive hobby. I wear-tested for Nike for a couple of years and using their shoes for 6-8 weeks at a time saved me a lot of money! AND I like having a say in how to make shoes better!

I got selected in August and even asked to keep the shoe an additional month because they have been so good for me training for my marathon so they let me keep them an extra month and requested I send in pics of me running in the marathon. I absolutely love the shoes I was sent.

I have to agree. I would think they'd at least give you a coupon for a discount on a pair of shoes. But I do like New Balance. I recently had a defective pair of shoes I returned to them and they sent me a brand new pair and even upgraded from the ones I had.

1. They have to be returned for R&D and QA purposes.
2. None of my test shoes have had any markings on them, unless they have purple hearts and pink laces I really don't care if they have markings on them.
3.
Required activities: These are activities that you typically already participate in, as you would have indicated such on the enrollment forms. I seriously doubt they are going to send me badminton or equestrian shoes and tell me that I need to do those activities or I am out of the program.
You typically only have to fill out forms once or twice during the course of the test and they don't take an extremely long time either. The final feedback is typically the longest and takes me less than an hour while doing other stuff.
As another poster stated it saves you money by not having to buy shoes as frequently. I know I have saved money as well by participating in this program.
If your time is so precious you probably shouldn't be wasting your time on slickdeals, we all know how easy it is to waste all of our time on here looking for deals and free stuff.

Hi, Does anyone know what happens when they send your child a pair to test that is too small? I signed up at the end of the summer and never heard a word from them. Today a pair comes for my child to test but they are too small. I sent an email to the person in charge of the test. Do they send another pair or is it just too bad?
For what it's worth, I never expected to test anything since we never heard from them after we signed up;)

I signed up for this last December. I did the professional device thing. Got nothing.. They must be pretty selective on who to send to.

Has anyone had trouble accessing the site today? My 1st response is due today and am unable to access the site using the link in the email, copy and paste to Firefox, IE, Safari.
I googled and clicked on the google link but still receive an error msg: Directory Listing Denied-This Virtual Directory does not allow contents to be listed
Also I received 2 different pairs of shoes & two forms I emailed my NB contact Sunday, haven't heard anything yet.

A "wear test" is to see how well the shoes hold up under use :) (Hence, the name, wear test) They measure how the soles do under usage, how the insides do under the rubbing of your feet, etc. So they need them back. Keeping them breaks the agreement, and if you do keep them, you won't be included in any further tests. I know it is tempting to keep them, but think of the potential new shoes you may be giving up in the future!

I got another pair of running shoes in the mail today. It's one step up from the first pair I received back in Feb '08, and 2 steps up from the pair that I wear daily. Very comfortable and cool looking.
I need to do more running in them and report better so I can get shoes more often. Looking at their site about what makes a good tester, I definitely don't use the shoes enough (they say 200+ miles makes an "Elite" tester, when coupled with good descriptions. I normally only do 25-50 in a month (yeah, I'm lazy).

Thanks for the post. Maybe my Bigfoot-sized(16) feet will get me some shoes to test. It will save wear & tear on my shoes.

My son has recieved two pairs of shoes so far. The latest pair I had so many problems with the feedback. First we couldn't log in and it was so hard to get a response from their support people. Then the first feedback was no problem. But the second one I could not get it to send and I tried a million times. Again the support staff was not at all helpful. It was more of a pain than it was worth for shoes we don't get to keep.

that happened to me yesterday. i got an email saying that i was selected to test a pair of shoes and they would be here in about 5 business days and to double check my address. so i logged in the account and there was a walking test survey in there and it said that there would be no shoes sent. whatever. this would have been my first time getting picked.

I just logged in and found the same thing. I don't know if I am going to do it yet because it sound like it is going to be long it said to save often. What do I get out of this? I don't even get to test any shoes.
This would have been my first time testing also.

it was long! there are quite a few questions and a LOT of typing. they want very detailed answers.
guess they tricked us both.

I applied. I just put standard width because I've never had the width measured. I always just had my length, a size 9. I just buy size 9 shoes without caring about width though and my feet are pretty small so standard should be fine!

Not sure if it's "me" or one of my kids.
We'll see!
