I wonder how long they'll be able to keep their Manhattan store open since the coupons are a big draw there. Coupons aside, if they also drop American Living, then there's essentially no reason for me to shop there.

I will miss the 10 off 25 coupons. My ds needed new clothes, jacket everything because he lost a lot of weight, went from XL to M. I was able to get him some nice stuff for Christmas, including a $100 jacket. for under $20.

I just received a rewards coupon and still have another thats valid for a few more days. Will they let me use both $10 off $10 rewards together or can I only combine it with another type of coupon?

I can't find another "Official" JCP thread, so I'll ask here...Did anyone yesterday or today (2/1 or 2/2)? Did they have the original price tags on (as before 2/1) and just signs that said "40% off everything"? What about items that were already marked down?
I just wonder how they are handling this and whether to bother going..

thanx!ALL price tags changed. Everything was repriced. There are no more % off signs.

I went today and browsed around and I was quite impressed. I think the pricing is much better on most things. Normally I would go and if I didn't have a coupon on top of a sale price -- I wouldn't bother. Now, I think I would be okay buying without a coupon and not feel like I was getting ripped off. And would probably feel inclined to shop more often knowing the prices are sans % off gimmicks.

My wife went to JCP yesterday. The new reciept reads as follows:

They are going with 3 tiers of pricing: Everyday low prices, Month long specials and Every first and third friday of the month special lowered prices.

They think this will work to increase their bottom line assuming they can keep sales up. But we will be paying more. I don't think this model will work. I expect to see sales decrease and margins increase, but I doubt the latter will be enough to offset a drop in sales. We'll see if it's "customer loyalty" rather than "smart shopping" that drives their business from now on.

I went online to look at $80 item I purchased about 2 months ago. It was selling for the same price and it would take the same I code I had to use then to get the price to the $65 I ended up paying.

Going into the stores was very disappointing. A lot of items are priced significantly more and the tags are so tiny, you have to look carefully too since there are few signs. I am curious how the stores are doing because I've been in twice since the change and both times it was so empty.

I have not been to the store, but so far I am pleased with their online prices. YES, there are things that are high priced that I wanted and was waiting for a big sale to buy. However, those items, though high priced, are of very good quality and I believe they are priced accordingly. As for other items with everyday/best price, I believe they are very fair. I have been looking at juniors dresses with very sample construction and average fabric that usually retail from $50-$100 pretty much everywhere, at JCPenney they are "everyday" priced $12-$30.
JCPenney will continue to have my business as long as they maintain good quality merchandise at a reasonable price.
