I do have some RZ points to use, so I may have to pick this up. I'm not even that hardcore into Rock Band, but this looks pretty interesting.

Any recommendations on any hand exercises? My grip had weakened and kind of hurt when I made a tight fist which I had believed was from the striking of the pads when escalating to higher difficulties that requires faster and closer successions.

How are you holding the sticks on the faster successions? Are you holding them tight and mashing on the pads, or are you holding them loosely between thumb and index and allowing the stickhead to bounce off the drumhead and the butt of the stick to play off the pad of your palm? The latter greatly reduces the stress on your hands while you play faster passages.

As for exercises, I've been using an Everlast Hand/Finger Strengthener (http://www.amazon.com/Title-Boxing-EX3782YE-aka-EV3782YE/dp/B0013N4BVM) from time to time (got 2 for $5 shipped from Tanga :)), or if you want to do more serious wrist muscle development, a DynaFlex gyro ball (http://www.amazon.com/DynaFlex-80046-Dynagrip-Extreme-Exerciser/dp/B000W1NGJO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=sporting-goods&qid=1296235061&sr=1-1).

So that's been confirmed the Squier is a lifetime exclusive to Best Buy? No chance of a discount on that. It seems I looked at the last 10-12% RZ coupons and they strictly excluded Squier guitar products, but maybe you could argue this is a video game accessory.

Yeah, Best Buy can suck it. I'm glad I got the Mustang, but playing a real, full-stringed guitar would be hella fun. I haven't busted out the Pro in a while..

Gaining interest in keys, though..

Have you considered the YouRock guitar? wizard seems to like his.From what people are saying, it's a super cheap midi guitar and I could easily transition into playing an actual guitar. But it would seem so on the YouRock but it seems too close to the Mustang.

Mustang - yes. You Rock - no, not yet. Gotta get the MIDI adapter first.

Here's some quick pros and cons:

Mustang:
+ first-party
+ depressable fret buttons feel more like pressing strings
+ metal strings seems to be of better quality
- expensive
- can't be played through amp
- can't connect to PC
- first-party means not on sale often
- unable to tell where frets end and begin with no tactile feedback of string-on-fret

You Rock:
+ third-party (has ability to go on sale)
+ full MIDI capability
+ PC connectivity
+ upgradeable firmware
+ built-in soundboard
+ can be played through an amplifier
- expensive
- not very aesthetically pleasing
- multi-touch fretboard doesn't feel much like a real guitar
- not very easy to tell where frets end and begin
- does not ship with a headstock (silly, but makes a real difference to me when I try to play a first-fret chord)

Certainly doesn't mean that it's forever exclusive, especially given that their website legal info says (c) 2010.

I'm also sure that Best Buy had RB and Fender specifically phrase their ad copy so that it would SEEM as though Best Buy would forever be the only place you could buy one.

I'm certainly there will be a release on the 12th, they just release/leak certain bigger items well in advance and it happens to skip a week in terms of what's up on Wikipedia so far.

I got the cymbals a while back on a SD. Definitely makes the game more challenging. I can never decide where to place my cymbals though. Do I place the green cymbal on the right like its mapped on screen or do I put it to my left where a crash properly goes...

Yea, I didn't play a ton but I kept it on the right most of the time. Just felt wrong playing the crash over there though. And I definitely agree on the snare.

I believe Cinderella was fairly popular back in the hair band days.

I guess it kinda rings a bell; I just figured Harmonix has been heavily leaning toward newer bands lately, and figured it was one of the dime-a-dozen metal-ish bands that have been pumping out lately.

Listening to "Don't Know What You Got" sounds kinda familiar I guess, but I was 3 when that song came out in '88, lol. :wave:

BONUS: I listened to Steel Panther right before this, and man, do those guys know how to parody 80s bands to a T.

Yeah Cinderella should be listed as a 80s hair band.
I grew up on the 80s Hair bands so I am happy to see them add some more.

I would have liked to see them put gypsy road in though.

SO, so many Yellowcard songs to choose from, and they choose Only One. I like the song, but Yellowcard is one of my favorite bands and there are many more technically challenging songs to choose from here. I want to see The Takedown, Lights and Sounds, For You And Your Denial, Rough Landing Holly, Way Away.. pretty much an endless list rather than have the wispy and instrumentally boring Only One.

In all seriousness, Longineu Parsons III is one of my favorite drummers of all time, and to see RB include one of his far less dynamic performances just sucks as a big fan that likes to play his music :(

More times than I can remember. From watching them play a sidestage at the Warped tour ten years ago, to catching a drumstick in DC about 5 years ago.

I actually ran into the violinist in line for cheesesteaks in Philly a year ago. They were in town for a show that night.

Played some RB3 over the weekend with some friends. I forgot how much fun this game can be when you play in a group(and have a few drinks) :lol:
