View Full Version : Rep? How to give it?
Well it may seem funny but i am not able to figure out how to rep someone. I used to think that giving thumbs up was equivalent to that but seems it is not.
Tried searching SD's faq but it mentions how to check reps, and other rules but does not answer the question "HOW".
Am sure it's something very very basic which i am not seeing...

You see how you have that green box with the number next to it by your user info? On someone elses you would click it and a pop up should appear allowing you to grant many wishes along with a note as to why you deem that person worthy. :D
Or click here for a tutorial. :D

How do I rep someone?
Can anyone rep?
Would the recipient knows who is repping as well?

You rep someone by clicking the little colored square next to the rep number.
Anyone can rep, but you must have 50 reps to actually count towards someones rep count.
The recipient will know who reps them as u can leave a comment when u rep.
Hope this helps :)

reputation points will not increase, however, your rep comment is recorded and they'll be able to see your gratitude.

Uhh, no. You can rep now, it just doesn't add to their rep count, however, you can leave a hearty 'atta girl/boy to their rep message box by clicking on their little colored rep button. Once you've reached a certain number of posts, your reps from that point on will count as a +1. Keep posting and rep when you like the deal. Eventually you'll see that the persons rep count will go up 1. Ok? Good luck and rep often! :D

Ok, I still can not give reps!! What is wrong? When I click a green box near "Reputation" with the number next to it, it gives me the error message: "you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
- Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
- If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation."
What does this mean? I told some one I would rep them because they helped me out and now I feel bad because I can't figure out how to do it! Help please!

I'm having the same problem, but it doesn't look like anyone answered your question here. Either that or they pm you. Also, i'm guessing because it's obvious like what the error message said "You do not have permission." But it would be nice it someone said that was the case for clueless ppl.

Is this happening on all users/threads that you try to rep? If so, then I'm guessing it's maybe because you're a brand new user. New user's privileges are limited a bit at first, and I believe that this is one of those limitations. But it usually doesn't last very long :) (see the New User Guide / SD FAQ Mega Thread (http://slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?t=511057) that's stickied at the top of this forum for more new user info and tips.)
If this is not happening on all threads/posts that you try to rep, but only on a few, and you can rep on others, then it could be a glitch somewhere.

I think you have to have 10 posts to be able to rep! I was able to rep after 10 posts. Maybe it was after being a member for X number of days though? I am not certain. Hope that helps a little!

yeah, I'm thinking because i'm a new registered member, but i've been around, just lazy to sign up. Anyways, i can't rep. in any forum. I'm getting my post up so i can see if it's the amount of post, or the number of days. Thx for all the help widgit and jennyleeg.

I'm not sure of the exact limits, but brand new users can't rep, so it's working as intended at the moment :)
