I ordered the SD wheel here http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?sduid=127793&t=732960 and hoping to improve my driving. I thought it would be fun to have a place to comment on the wheel and what games support the FF. Some questions to get things going:
Anyone using it on the PC? Will games for Windows include Force Feedback? I ordered NFS carbon for $19 off Amazon and already own Forza and PGR. Do the demos for Sega Rally and Test Drive unlimited have FF? Thanks for any feedback.

The ones they ordered should be ok, no? AFAIK, it was just the DC adapter that was the culprit and that should have been replaced in these.
*Also* Looking at Buy.com it says this under the description:
NOTE: This is the newer, updated version of the Wireless Racing Wheel, which does NOT have the Wheel chassis hazard.
I don't know which other "hazard" there could be but I think these are ok.

:shake: um... DC Adapter? Think they said that was the problem.. until i recently got an empty box delivered to my house... and picture instructions to put the wheel in the box. (no dc adapter, no plug, no bottom base.)
but these might be newer/fixed ones.. so just giving you guys the heads up either way

huh... I guess it was the unit after all. I just remember them saying you could use the wheel on battery power and you'd be fine, but, then you wouldn't get force feedback.

exactly what i thought! I got soo confused when the box came.. first thought maybe something i ordered online and forgot about. but no.. just an empty box.
I'll scan the paper they sent me tomorrow when i have it in my hands.

As mentioned before, it clearly says this is the new model without the recall issue, no worries. Since anything goes how about adding a chair to this thing. I wonder how those rocker chairs would go with this? Reason I ask is Target has them 75% off now here http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?sduid=127793&t=734811
I already have the $99 compact massager recliner from Walmart so I'm already set to FF my ass off. I highly recommend that deal if you can still find it or have them ship site to store. I can't wait for Wednes shipment of the wheel and NFScarbon. I have a nice yamaha surround and a Sammy 32" so this will rock the place. Not bad for a 54yo heh, this is my time machine, I'll never grow up. I was wondering how good that new Nascar game is, I might buy it if it's on sale.

I already received the one from buy.com.... it is the newer version that has the power cable fixed. All the wheels packaged with the Forza 2 demo are the newer versions that are fixed.
i LOVE the racing wheel now that im getting used to the force feedback. Burnout paradise is so much more fun with it
does anyone know how to do character mapping? I didnt see any options to do it in burnout paradise.

Character mapping meaning what, exactly?

Character mapping meaning what, exactly?
as in... I want to change the two paddles into different buttons. By default, they are LB and RB in Burnout Paradise. However, I would like to change them to X and A, because its kind of hard to press the current X and A buttons while using the wheel.

To each his own, I heard TDU was a blast just cruising around enjoying the scenery. I'm more of a casual gamer and mostly solo so Multiplayer isn't critical in DIRT either. And TDU just added some content btw:

Maybe I'l redo the demo since I liked both of them. These things are expensive and I've already had three deliveries. Now time for a test, wanted to watch the eat and do the dishes before I zone out with the toys. Watch the power go out here in the NW as soon as I plug in my new wheel.

I definitely hear ya, to each his own.
I've played Test Drive before and was offered that game and 2 other games for $20.. but after playing it i gets old quick and its not all that great. I'm also a casual gamer, so i dont have 15,000 gamerpoints.
TDU was released in 06 when xbox36 just came out...
Burnout was released not even a month ago.. and its very addicting and highly recommended. Its not only fun online, but a lot of fun by yourself. You'll be able to hook up your car but in test drive you can't. so remember that.

I've yet to play with the wheel, but i will try it out tonight and let you know what i think about it. I'm sure the controllers will be sweet, considering driving in burnout is very easy and a little tap and it moves over quick.
As far as playing PGR on it, i feel like its just too fast for the wheel to control, anyone else feel like that?

Played my wheel all day the first day now I need a break but I did buy BP and Flat Out Ultimate Carnage (w/FF for $39). I played PGR4 for hours working up from a mini-cooper to a ferrari. FYI there is some free content coming in a week (2/14)
Free Challenge Pack (free download!)
A playable, hydrogen-powered Peugeot Flux
Tourist Mode - Just drive around the city and admire the scenery with no explicit goal
"Free Roam" Cat and Mouse Mode - Implements the delayed updates previously discussed here
Seven unlockable achievements
LOL, tourist mode is just what I needed. I always get the feeling I'm missing all the scenery with all the intense racing. This game is just plain gorgeous to gawk at. At the other pack for 400pts sounds good too.

Time to bring back the wheel talk with the latest game from codemasters. If you liked DIRT you'll love GRID. It's the best racing game I've seen yet and I've tried them all. There is a GRID demo so give it a try first then go get that wheel. I'm just blown away by it.

I've been trying to get rid of my wheel for the last few months now. =(
I converted over to Gran Turismo with the new GT wheel (which is amazing).
Now I can't go back to playing Forza with the 360 wheel.

I guess I'm not that picky, I love the wheel to death on Forza and PGR. GRID and DIRT and miles ahead in graphics with damage model but have a floating feel to the steering that takes some adapting. I rarely even bother tweaking the wheel, I just get into whatever I'm playing. No complaints here but I'm mostly a single player, I don't care much for high pressure competition online.

I just might have to whip out the wheel tonight. I haven't played any of those games in a really long time
