Would be nice to have a section like that for people interested in investing or just learning about it. Stock tips could be traded, info provided, ideas exchanged, and learning could take place so we can all be better informed and have knowledge of how things work. And if someone is using real money maybe this could help them in the market as well.

Also if someone needs practice running their own mutual fund or wants to see how their stock picking is, I suggest marketocracy.com, excellent free site where you can run your own mutual fund, and have to follow all the rules of real mutual fund. Very good practice.

slickdeals stocks? hmm, i dunno about that one. Dosnt really fit the bill of a slickdeal, cuz you can easily loose money aswell.

I think this would be a good idea, but only if it was for stocks under $5, because anything over that amount requires a lot of money to invest and a lot of price movement to pay off.

MSN's Moneycentral used to have forums for "penny stocks" but removed it because it was ruining their contests since people were having 100,000% returns.

But then again, maybe the demographic that uses this forum doesn't pay attention to the market.

i hate to be negative, but i personally think this is a somewhat pointless endeavor. There are a multitude of places, like fool.com, that people can go to and discuss this. and really.. no offense, but when someone here suggests that we have a "section for stocks under $5".. well.. let me just say that the potential for spam is the least of worries :P

Regardless, why not. I'd love to hear what the people have to say :P

SGI is at it's lowest point right now. Silicon graphics's inc will go up like crazy as the biotech is going to rise. This is a great long term investment!!!

Look to the above post, no offense DmitRus.

But if we do, we will just have a bunch of "pumpers" leading people on to bad investments.

BTW how do you figure SGI will go up "crazy" as biotech rises? SGI is computer hardware... biotech is ... biotech. And SGI hasn't had a profitable year in over 3 years....

~MMN ManiacAgreed! A forum should "stick to it's knitting," doing what it does best and not trying to be all things to all people, particularly when there are many qualified and established resources for the desired topic.

I bought EBAY stock for the first time today. Loaded up on it.. Looks like it has hopefully bottomed after eBays instituition of the price hike fiasco for buyers.. But all of their growth is international anyways.. Already have Germany, Austrailia, UK etc.. monopolized and China is where all the profits and growth will be eventually.

Paypal is another of eBays saving graces.. Yes eBay growth is stagnant in the U.S. but I value the rest of the world..

Plus I have 3 power selling accounts so I'm making lots of money for my investment..

in @ $31.95 per share

This is a very solid long term investment, but I'm Looking for some penny stocks to play with as well

Would it be wise to invest in energy ? I know the government is pushing for ethanol (even though on a thermodynamic scale it's not that efficient), so maybe corn futures or distillery et al. Petroleum might be a good short term pick but too much drama going on.

Do you guys see any trends ? Or any potential in small companies ?

I'm no expert so forgive my light givings.

Don't hold your breath, I'm expecting eBay's earnings to be worse than what's expected. And even it if it on the mark, it might not help considering the market is so speculative right now, look at Apple's great numbers. And then a 10% dropoff the next few days, should have shorted that one. They already announced a dropoff in website hits. eBay's been around in the countries you mentions for at least 2 years and it is already well established.

A long term move is alright, eBay is large enough it's not going to be kaput in the next 5 years. Don't sell on a panic, unless they are shutting down and closing the business.
However I disagree with "daytrading", more like gambling, if you need to do that to put food on the table or use money you should be saving to risk something you aren't completly sure about, DON'T.

As for "playing" penny stocks, you're better off going to the card tables. I would not take anyone's advise on small cap stocks, come on, anyone on the internet is probably a pumper. Generally I think people aren't educated enough before they go out and buy stocks, as it's more of that fade off of the Dot Com boom. Where everybody was getting rich, and more people jumped on the boat and it sunk. Sorry for being all over the place, just remember to do your homework before you invest.

Oh well, I planned to hold long term, but I couldn't resist and just sold eBay in afterhours for $33.15

Made 2K in 2 days off of the transaction so I couldn't resist grabbing it off the table.. I'm going to see if I can buy the shares back for cheaper though.. hopefully I can get back in

Anyone see potential in INKP??? Operating profit, cash flow positive...... 2 products out in the market getting sold. Why is this stock selling for so cheap?? Might just be overlooked temporarily though. Or am I missing something.

I'd love to hear some serious comments.

buy krispy kreme stock!!! j/k. I just posted on another thread here which talks about creating a financial forum. I think an investment forum would combine these two ideas with good results.

Probably already been mentioned but i was wondering if we can dedicate a forum to stocks and penny stocks, Ones that are slick deals anyway. This page is already about saving money can we make a little too, while at the same time contributing to our economy?
