Call every store all the time! Try to make friends with store employees. They can provide great information if they like you, or they can put you on a cold trail if you annoy them.
If you're calling, try in the afternoon hours at first. The AM people are bombarded until the normal shipment has come, so the intel may not be the best. Afterwards though, you can get the information for the NEXT shipment. Always, always ask when was the LAST time they got Wii consoles and how many. This will give you an idea on what days of the week they may be getting them AND how many they may be getting.

Wiialerts.com and Nowinstock.net are popular trackers that send you immediate notifications of Wii's in stock at e-tailer websites, like Amazon.com, Sears.com, and BestBuy.com. You MUST be quick with the mouse and keyboard in order to even have a chance of purchasing these online. The windows in which these are available range from 2 minutes to 30 minutes at most.

Tips specific to B&M stores. Post your tips and tricks for specific stores here:


Gamestop: Stores like Gamestop get UPS shipments. Therefore, a good time to check is right after their weekday UPS drop-off. This requires getting to know the store and the timing of these shipments.
Walmart: Walmart generally receives them on Tuesdays that coincide with UPS deliveries. If deliveries are made by Walmart overnight truck, it can be ANY day and for 24 hour Walmarts, they are usually released in the very early morning.
Best Buy: (at least the one I work at) Usually gets them on the Tuesday truck, which arrives anywhere between 1pm and 7pm that day. Usually they don't sell out until the morning.

B&M store return policies. Want to return part of some crappy bundle you were forced to buy? Please look here before asking in the thread:


Circuit City - Return anything from the bundle that you do not want to the store or choose pick up at store and never pick the extra games and accessories up.

Walmart.com - Return games from the bundle that you do not want to your local store. For bundles that are priced at $677, you should receive a line by line invoice with the shipment which makes returning the items easy. For bundles that are priced at $548, you do NOT receive a line by line invoice, which makes returning the extra games almost impossible. Walmart stores are using a Transaction Number for the items, and online shipments of games always bring up an invalid transaction ID. If the cashier is aware of this, you may not be able to return the items for any credit. If the cashier is NOT aware of this, you may be able to return the items for full credit (usually occurring late at night when customer service is closed).

Toysrus.com - Return games from the bundle that you do not want for store credit only. If you return to TRU.com, you will receive full credit on your CC. The cheapest method is USPS media mail (signature confirmation is recommended) and the credit usually shows up within a day of their receipt.

Got 3 from amazon and 15 sec later out of stock. I also went to Target to get an xbox 360 for my roommate (my friend has the target discount employee card) but they didn't have it. Instead I looked in the case and there were 2 Wiis! My friend and I each got one.

The Best Buy in SF, CA bay area has them but won't sell them till tomorrow morning.

When I got there, we litterly ran to the back. He pulled out two when I asked and I said I want 1. Then this group of ladies sees and say I want 1 too..and another dude asks if they have more..he had 1 last 1. Gone in two minutes after my arrival..Whew!

I walked into Best Buy to get a CD, walked out with a Wii! They had 4 in stock, I grabbed one and so did my cousin. I called my friend to tell him they had 2 left, but by the time he got there, they were gone.

From previous reports, thats pretty much the norm. They had about 100 per day when they were hard to find. I can't imagine the numbers they must be getting now that they are more readily available. I think you need to show them your ID so they can record it to make sure you only buy one. I've never actually purchased one from there however.

You should be able to find one in stores pretty easily before next week. That is of course if you're only looking for one...

They have them everyday, credit card or debit card only + an ID. Almost always qty is over 140. Theres usually a line out the front that gets around the block but i haven't gone there in about 2 months so not sure if that is still the case.

What time did they get their shipments in? My local Blockbuster/Gamerush stores claim that if they receive wii's, they will get them in on a Tuesday or a Friday around noon, and they usually receive 2-3.

They have been out for more than year. The supply is still slow. But, chances are better now at getting one on a Sunday morning at a local store like Best Buy, Target or others.

So, now that people are not as frantic to get them. Chances are the supply at stores are lasting perhaps the whole day now when they get them in.

In my opinion, the market is not focused on those more remote locations where there is not 5 stores in each town or 5 stores within a mile that carry Wii's...

Something that I keep thinking back to. Last year I was in Target in February. I was standing there looking at a Wii in the case and couldn't believe that I actually, finally, saw one. But, passed, figuring that the hussfuss was over. I wasn't really paying attention to it. But, come Christmas time. People were going nuts trying to find them again. So, when I received a call from a friend last week saying he was looking at some at a case. I decided to pass. But, it's difficult to say come Christmas, will supply be plenty or still leaving people needing them during Christmas?

I have a goal of capturing 10 wii's before Wii Fit becomes AVAILABLE to the public. I will only purchase a wii if it is AVAILABLE for sale at less than or equal to $250.00. I could accomplish this pretty easily on a Wednesday between 12-2pm (the time when amazon.com usually has wii's AVAILABLE), but I vow to only use Amzn AVAILABILITY as a last resort. I have about 3-4 weeks to find 10 wii's AVAILABLE at less than retail price, so I'm hoping to find some mega bargains AVAILABLE during this time. Of course, it would be foolish of me to say exactly what I plan to do with these 10 units since this is only the AVAILABILITY thread.

P.S. If you're having a hard time finding wii's AVAILABLE...try checking Target, CC, BB, WM, Sams Club, Kmart, Sears, TRU or Gamestop.

On our way back from San Diego to Pasadena (2 hr drive) just to prove a point to my wife that the Wii's are hard to find, I decided to stop at a Bestbuy store out in the middle of nowhere just to show her that Wii's were sold out everywhere. So what do you know, they have a freakin sign outside their door saying that Wii's are in stock! LOL. They had the Wii's hidden underneath a table that had all of the Wii accessories. We took one and the associate placed 3 more on the table and it looked like they had more under the table. Now my wife doesn't believe me that I had been looking around for the last two weeks with no luck...hehe.

Best Buy in Margate, FL (the wife said it was Margate) at Atlantic Blvd. & University had 11 Wii's on the floor.

Yesterday I went to ToysRus and they had atleast 8 of them just sitting there, my across the street Target/Walmart had about 6+ just sitting there. And from talking to some of the employees, they are telling me that most of the other stores have them in stock also. in SW PA.. yesterday TRU had signs everywhere they had wii's (about 8). BB still had none, Target had 2, none of the GS had any and none have had any in the past week. WM had none.

it seems hit or miss, yes they are available overall but not in one place for any great period of time. I have to say, seeing a Wii on the shelf at TRU was really surprising.

My dad was able to get a Wii for my brother this past week (Monday April 28) at Target. They still had several of them left (probably from the Mario Kart Wii release the day before).

So, while its a matter of luck, I think maybe the manufacturers are picking up the pace to meet the demand.

Of course there's always the stroke of Luck like my dad's puchase for me on my b-day or for my older brother. :p

I went to BB today and thought there might be nothing left because of the event last night.
Very out of my expectations, the manager told me they still have some units left and they did not sell all 30 units they have. Very lucky to score one without waiting!

The only store I heard of bundling them are some WM stores. All the ones I spot are console only. There was 8 sitting at my local Target yesterday but Wii Play was Sold-Out

haha just came back from my local walmart in stafford, surprised to see they had a handful of them sitting behind the screen doors.

I didn't realize that people still had availability issues. The Nintendo Store in NYC has them everyday, the TRU in Times Square at least a couple of shipments per month, and there's a Best Buy in Long Island (Walt Whitman Mall) that's had them in stock for weeks now and never sold out.

I actually had a few emails and calls the past couple of days from a CL ad I had placed over a week ago and forgot to delete so it seems they are out of stock at most places where i live....

I got my Wii a few months ago at Blockbuster. I was lucky enough to be there when they were opening their boxes, got three in and two were reserved. I was completely in the right place at the right time and told the guy I'd take the last one and it was mine. So then a million people came up to the counter to ask for them and the people who work there explained the best way to get one. The one by me gets shipments in on Tuesdays. So if you call Tuesday morning (mine opens at 10am) first thing, they will know if they are expecting any in and how many. They can "reserve" one for you and will reserve up to the number they have. I'm sure there's another stipulation, like you must pick it up by closing that day or by 5pm or whatever.

Blockbuster in Merrick, NY (Long Island) had ads saying they will be carrying them soon. As far as wii availability. They are much easier to come by, thats for sure, but they were just as easy to get this time of year last year. I wouldn't be surprised if the wii craze picks up again come xmas time. Even big shipments at Best Buy sell out by the end of the day, so they are still hard to get in my opinion.

My local Target had 6 Wiis sitting there near closing time.

Sam's Club in Las Vegas had at least a dozen Wii's in stock this morning, along with a dozen Wii Fit games. Sam's club is on serene and spencer.

there are 4 wii consoles and 4 wii fit available at target (Rochester Hills, MI). This was at 1 pm on 5/21.

wii's are plentiful in the Green bay area. Yesterday the east side target had 2-3 in stock. Today Best Buy had the Wii, but no wii fit. Walmart and west side target also had wii's today. Only found wii fit at west side target and picked up the last one for my fiancee

i just came back from my local Best Buy (Fairfield, CA) at 1130am pst, and they had 25 wii systems in stock. it was behind the glass, so one would have to ask for one. also were a couple ps3s and 360s. i think they just got a shipment of wii's quite recently.

there were 2 dozen Wii's just sitting on teh floor out in the open at 5pm at my bestbuy in bridgewater, nj yesterday......no one cared :lmao:

well, i meant to say i didnt see any wii systems in stock yesterday. but as of today, wii fits are long gone. but when i was in line for wii fit at target, i did overhear the target manager saying they had upwards of 80 in stock (wii fit) but only released around 40 to the general public. so they may be releasing the rest this sunday.

Just came back from the grand opening of the BB in Otay Ranch (East Chula Vista). They had 70-80 Wii's @ $249 when they closed at 9p. So if you are looking for one, hit this store up early tomorrow and you should be able to get one. It is in the Otay Ranch Town Center.

It seems that some stores keep their stock "in the back", so you may have to ask them. Sometimes you want something even more knowing you can't have it, and when you see there are no Wiis on the floor, but ask and say we have one in the back, almost instant purchase:eek:

I finally saw Wii's in stock at Costco here in SoCal a couple weeks ago. First time I had seen a Wii in store since I bought mine at Target back in Feb 07.

I think alot of the stock you saw from this past week other then walmart came from the big releases that occurred last weekend. Most stores such as target, toysrus didnt sellout of consoles and knew that wiifit was coming out wednesday so didnt really make a conscious effort to let the general public know they had them. On the other hand target just had then sitting out for days but only putting a few out at a time. Hopefully no stores restock this weekend and then major droughts occur and prices sky rocket over the next week and hopefully next 2 weeks.

Yes. My toys r us has signs up saying "YES WE HAVE WIIS IN STOCK" and still the store was dead.

Mine aren't.

I feel really bad for you. You have been looking for a Wii since SSBB release. If you cannot get one by now, you need some real help. Thanks. I know I blamed the resellers before, and I didn't intend to so it was immature on my part. I get why you would put me down like that and it really is because I haven't been looking very hard. It's also because I rarely get the chance to visit Wii-stocked stores like Target (it was my first time at Target yesterday) and I am honestly not really looking for Wii's when I am there. If people happen to report it like above, I'll visit it to see if I have a chance. Again I don't have a car so it's hard for me to commute, I hope we can stop talking about this and just let the discussion about Wii's continue, not talking about my issue because it is a waste of time as well. Right now, if you sign up at wiialerts, the wii's are often in stock for an hour or two, assuming you have an online payment method available to you.

It's really easy to get Wiis in San Diego if you only need one.

Just call around each and every store and you are bound to get one soon.

For instance, Kearny Mesa Target probably still has them. Blockbusters too, since they have over 50 stores in San Diego. You are bound to get one.

I think BestBuy will have them on Sunday? At least according to the guy at my local store.

Also, used the Target tracker and this time, it was VERY accurate...picked up 4 in 3 stores...1st place let me buy their last two. One store had a case full - will have to return in the AM but the ones closest to me had NONE so check tracker around 8 AM tomorrow !

I just got Super Smash Brothers and is it just me or is this the biggest game ever? It's manic, like you can play for hours and never do the same thing twice. I guess that's why IGN rated it 9.5/10. I myself like Super Mario Galaxy the best (IGN 9.7/10). have 115 levels with 5 more to go. Hopefully then I can unlock Luigi and play all 120 over again as him!! Andrew

I was at Frys in Oxnard California today and noticed that they had a couple of stacks of Wii's in their Cage. I don't know if they are for sale (holding for bundles?) since there was nothing noted in the actual video game section, but they also didn't have PS3's, 360's or PSP's on display but I saw them in the Cage as well. But if you are in the market its always worth a shot if you are local.

I called one nearest me that said "Available" at noon but said "we got 5 and OOS" BUT the tracker still showed "Available" 3 hrs later so I called again and guess what? They had 10+ (maybe it was in the back?) and the young lad let me have 2 ! :woot:

I don't think CC has the Wii console in their ad. I think they just have the Wii Fit. I didn't see the Wii Fit in Targets upcoming ad either, but it could be regional.

Well, they could have them even though they aren't advertised. I could see CC having a few consoles, and I have been reading rumors that some Targets are holding. They could be holding for the 22nd or releasing a few on Fathers day. I might check my Target on Sunday, since they didn't release any this week.

So how hard is it to find a Wii nowadays? I'm thinking about selling my japanese Wii and buy an english one so I could understand the menus but I'm afraid I won't be able to find another Wii once I sell it. I'm in the Bay Area.
