Since there seems to be several people who play CoD4 is anyone else interested in setting up a night for everyone to try and get on and play together?

I'm mainly talking to the PS3 people, but 360, and I guess PC users could use this thread as well to coordinate games as well. Just identify which system you play on.

I'm an iffy clan member, since usually I play at night and am always having to run off to change diapers etc. Pretty much any night works.

I'm not looking to do anything to official, it'd just be nice to start playing with the same people. More communication and maybe some dedicated rolls would be better.

The punks who chatter non-stop or play music over their mics annoy me, and the people that play domination like its TDM, in ground war bug me. Even if we get only a handful of us on at once at least having a few other competent and non-annoying people would make the game experience much better.

I had a blast. We should make this a weekly or bi-weekly thing. That was my first time playing domination. May have to play it more, throughly enjoyed it. I mainly play headquarters, but do play TDM from time to time. Last night was the first time I had played COD on my ps3 in about a month....been mainly on my 360 since I got it back.

Time wise, it also works out well for me also. My 8 month old is usually ready to sleep about then.

I kind of like being a free agent. It makes it somehow a bit more satisfying when a group of Bad News Bears types puts down a team of 5 or six clan members.

No you can't, but when I've been coordinating groups in games I'll send everyone in my friends list that are online a message through PSN with the details in the subject. When you recieve a message it show's who sent it and the subject, even while your in a game.

Other tips, when the host cancels a game it usually breaks the party, sometimes it doesn't look like it did until you try and start a new game and nobody is with you. So I think whenever the host cancels a game everyone should leave the group on their own and the leader then will re-invite everyone.

I usually kick every one out when that happens and just re invite them.......

I think maybe if we send msgs to be ready to accept an invite at the time posted then that will avoid everyone no being able to connect.....

I ended up playing some Domination. I own COD on the 360 and PS3 and have yet to finish the single player campaign on either of the two. As a matter of fact, I haven't even started the single player on the ps3 yet.....online is too addicting. Single player was actually pretty fun. After playing online for so long it actually wasn't that hard on the advanced setting except in a couple of spots.

Still don't know why the G3 is full auto in the single player but single shot in multi.

I'm about 90% finished on the 360. But I haven't played the single campaign since I first bought it and that was the week it came out. I'll eventually finish it off. I also bought Ass. Creed and The Orange Box over the holidays and have yet to even open them yet. I figured that they'll still be there if and when I get tired of playing this. But with new maps coming I doubt that happens anytime soon.

I have assassins creed, about halfway through with it. Figure if I play it occasionally I might have it done before GTA comes out. Also have Resistance: Fall of Man, that was a real fun game and beat that probably a week before I bought COD4.

Me and the wife played and beat Resistance. I borrowed it from my brother rather than spend $60 for it. It was pretty fun.

Yeah I've been playing PJM alot lately. It's one of the few games I've gotten my wife interested in, so we've been playing co-op. We've beaten every level except the hard bonus level, we need one more rainbow to unlock it.

Anyone remember who the other person in the party was, or who invited them? I invited Monk, Dark, Domino, Kiro, and Manny, then there was one more in our party. Probably invited by Kiro or Manny, I'm cool with inviting other people you guys know. I'm just interested in adding them to my friends list too if they don't mind.

Monkfish I came up with a cool strategy for domination. Right now I think both of us have basically a sprint class setup and we both have smoke 'nades. Since we both pretty much sprint to B together all of the time to start with we could have one of loaded out with smoke, and the other with 3x Stun grenades.

We don't really need more then one set of smoke on the flag, and if the other person had 3 stun grenades and started chucking them towards where the enemy comes from it would slow them down to almost guarantee we'd take B to start with.

If we get a 3rd person sprinting we could have them do 3 flash grenades as well, and we'd be able to slow down and disorient pretty much everyone coming to B.

Right now I'll usually chuck my frag before I even get to B just in the chance that it'll stop their sprinters as well.

I think that's a good one, and I think we're pretty much doing that. On most maps I'll go to be, toss smoke and then toss two or three frags in the direction from where the other team will be coming (which will likely either kill or slow them.) After B, then I'll switch back to my assault rifles (after I die.) You're probably right in that would work a bit better than the frags, but I'm not the biggest fan of using a whole class slot for them. :)

I'm a domination nut, I've got 2 classes almost purely dedicated for domination, and then a third more general one I use as well.

Sprinter: used at the start to get to B, SMG, Smoke, extra health, and sprint 2x
Hard2Kill: used if we need another flag, SMG, Smoke, extra health, last stand

Assault Martyr: once we have 2 flags, AR, RPG/nade launcher, sonic boom, martyrdom

When I'm playing with you or another slickdealer who wants to sprint to B, I'll start swapping out the smoke for 3xStun. I don't have the 3x frag anyway, so it probably makes sense for me to do the stun.

And bump...a few of us are on now.

It took me 2 weeks to get through the AK-47, and only a matter of days on the G36C. It was a miserable time being stuck using both the AK-74 and the AK-47 at the same time. I'm at least mixing in the P90 now while I wrap up the AK-74.

P90 is pretty nice, it'll be nice to get a silencer on it.

I hated the AK-47 at first - too hard to group shots...then I put the silencer on it and it really cuts back on the recoil a lot. It's my favorite assault rifle by far right now.

I like Sabotage and HQ usually, but domination ranks right in there... I am currently working on the G3 which is KILLING ME! I did just get the G36C though, so that will help a bit. I just need to get my 3 nades.

I assume that happens to all of us.

SilentDeth will invite me, but I will be in the middle of a game. Since SD doesnt want to wait around 15 minutes for me to finish he hops in a game. When my game is done I see the invite, accept, and server full message. I invite SD to my party, sit around for about 2 minutes then jump in my own game. I assume he accepts the invite, gets the server full message, invites me, rinse, repeat.

The best way is to send a message before you decide to squad up. Then your friends can see you are about to get in the game.

I had invited a number of people and got bahbahbooey to join me, and then didn't want to wait too long after that. Then we entered a game and I sent an invite in the game but somebody must have grabbed the spot before you accepted.

I've been doing what Chaos said lately. I'll send invites to a bunch of people, and wait until somebody accepts, but then if somebody else tries to invite me after that sometimes I'll exit out and send everyone a message so they know when invites are coming.

When your in a game if you hit the start button you'll see the invites and can accept the invite to leave your current game. I'll do that when I've been playing invite tag with people if I'm not already in a party.

I finally got my 1K xp from the G3, so I can put that POS to bed. I tried the P90 and G36C silenced with UAV jammer. I LOVE the silenced part, but I need the extra stopping power so UAV jammer had to go. P90 is my new favorite gun!

I used to use p90 alot until I realized I could do better with silenced mp5, the range on p90 when silenced is horrible. Lately I have been using the silenced m4, good accuracy and range and still does decent damage with stopping power.

I have trouble with the MP5 silenced. I guess the sights mess me up or something. I do have the M4 in my rotation though.

I think I have all the guns I can complete challenges with done. I am not going to try sniper or shotgun challenges. I guess I could to the other SMGs, but I think that playing with good guns will allow me to progress more than completing challenges.

I'm going to the Grand Canyon this week so I won't be able to run a party this week. Does anyone else want to? I can change the title to reflect the day/time whoever wants to try and run it.


I like the MP5 and M4 alot. Even though the MP5 was the first gun I finished I still have it on my stealth load out (UAV jammer, silencer).

I doubt I'll do any of the sniper rifles. I'll try and swap in a shotgun for the shipment and the indoor level. It looks like there is at least one indoor map coming in the map updates, so that should be another good level for shotguns.

Shotguns arent to bad with the grip and stopping power, but I won't touch a sniper rifle with a 10 foot pole. I'd rather run around with my pistol out then pick one up.

It's because COD4 is lame. Silendeth needs to invite you to a party first and then go in with you. Space fill up too fast to try and invite someone directly into a game.

That being said, what they should have done is imposed a 10 second rule on invites, where it reserves a spot for 10 seconds when you invite someone. If they don't fill it in 10 seconds then it releases. Of course they would have to limit it to two spots, so people don't clear out the room before the game is even started. The simpler solution is really just the party thing, which really really needs improvement.

I've been playing around with the skorpion with extreme conditioning and stopping power. On certain levels it can be a lot of fun. Putting a silencer on that thing is just a bad idea though.

Headset is great when you play with people you know, otherwise strategy is rarely discussed. More then often it nonsense or loud music. haha
I usually mute one or two people in each game right off the bat.

Team tactical seems to have a lot more mics and a lot more strategy going on. It's a lot of fun sometimes.

So anyone doing this Thurs again? If so I will try to make it, although I tend to always go out thurs night. BTW, what do you guys usually play when you get the Thurs night group together?

Once a match starts press select to bring up the live rankings, you can then select any individual and press "X" to mute them. At least that's the PS3 version, I am sure the 360 version is similar. What's even better is that it seems to keep the mute on as long as you are on that server.

Yeah I had some annoying idiot one night and recalled that the update allowed for that. I was desperately trying to do it in the lobby and it wouldn't let me. Then I realized the only other place you could do it would be during a match in the live ranking screen, which I tend to check once in a while to see how I am doing during a match.

You're right, I haven't played alot of team tactical lately but that's where the mic really comes in handy. I haven't been able to keep the mute on in the lobby, only in the game. Once the game ends and we are back in the lobby, everything resets. How'd you keep it on?

And I should be home about 10pm CST on Thursday for the SD game. I Like Domination, Headquarters and Sabotage, but I play the others too.

LOL! +1 on that, I rarely check out the replay when I die in HQ and just try to respawn but I've died plenty of times and the next thing I hear is "protect the Headquarters..." :lol:

agreed, i love it when it's a standstill throughout the entire 20 - 30 minutes (i forgot how long the timer is) and then it goes into Sudden Death mode. that's when it gets ridiculously fun.

As far as the mute thing, I knew it could be done, but wasn't sure how to do it. Will definitely put it to use. Kinda hard to concentrate sometimes when you got a loud buzzing sound in your ear....or some guys arguing about the rent.

Good question. I assumed it was kept on by default because the guy had music blasting. I muted him and he was still there when we went back to the lobby and I wasn't hearing anything... It's possible he stopped, and I never noticed. There tend to be less idiots in team tactical, although plenty of smack talking.

Best thing is when you get a helicopter 15 seconds before sudden death and it totally destroys the other team. You can get some crazy exp with sabotage though, I have had a couple 700 point games that drag out.

I love domination too but the best thing about sabotage is how you can be the man of the hour and win the game for your team even if the rest do horrible. In domination if your team isn't good/cooperative and can't hold more then 1 point it doesn't matter how good you do, your going to lose.

That's true. It can be really frustrating when you are the only one on your team attempting to advance the bomb, while everyone else is camping out back by home base. I've had long games where I've quit after a while because I was getting really frustrated by the rest of my team doing nothing.

Something I do when I see C4 near a flag in domination...........
I go to the flag and pause for a moment to signal "capturing flag", and leave the circle quickly. That usually gives the message to the other team, "losing A......." and the person will blow the C4. Then you can go back and capture it without getting blown up.
I do that also to smoke out people hiding near the flag. :nod:

Everyone starts out multiplayer from scratch (and you build up unlocks online.) Singleplayer is not a prereq for multiplayer (though you may want to play a round or two offline first to get a hang of the controls.)

I didn't finish campaign mode until I had been playing MP for a while. There's no need to do it but it does give a tutorial on certain things. For example, when I first started playing online I would see people lying down for sniping and taking cover. As stupid as this sounds, I couldn't figure out how to do that. Campaign mode will tell you how to do stuff like that.

Short answer: Yes, you can jump right in.

I've been watching the NHL playoffs, go Wild. So I haven't been on much lately.

I'll be on a couple hours tonight probably, not sure when though. Finished Heavenly Sword last night and sent it back to gamefly so don't have hardly anything else to play. Well, I might play a round or two of hot shots golf too.

I'll probably be on tonight - depending on how good/bad the Yankees game is.

I could see how it could either be a huge amount of work for them to enable or a very small amount of work - depending on all sorts of variables. I'm personally OK without it, since I'm probably coming close to wrapping up my COD 4 days as GTA and MGS releases approach.

Yep, 360 version has always had rumble. I guess IW didn't plan to work on that feature if it wasn't there at the time regarding the PS3.

You can still toss the flash bangs. I like to toss one or two FB and throw a grenade right behind them if I know I'm heading into a bunch of gunfire. Sometimes you can take a couple out and they never saw it coming(or at least blind them long enough to shoot'em).

I finally went prestige on my 360 went they dropped the new maps on the 360 and took advantage of the double point weekend. Before I went, I was sitting on lvl 55 1st prestige w/ like 10,000 kills. Finally said WTH and made the jump....I'm back up to lvl 40 or 42(can't remember exact number).

Edit: lvl 51 before I started playing tonight....didn't realize I had lvl'd up that far.

I just got my ps3 back from repair, I'll probably be waffling back and forth between gta iv and cod4 this week/weekend. That is if I can remember my psn password...

I took advantage of the double XP points weekend (when the new maps came out) to go prestige and rack up the points. I miss the 3 'nades options especially in Headquarters and I too love throwing smoke/flash bangs at snipers. :lol:

I check for them on occasion while in a match, but I'm probably to late too. I play alot of Domination, Headquarters and Sabotage. I'll send invites when I get on. I see Bin Laden killah on alot too.
