I have 2 Slickdeals RSS feeds on my Google homepage - one for the frontpage deals, and one for the hot topics forum discussion.

I'm wondering how I can get the hot topics feed to be more current. It JUST now listed the FatHead deal, which apparently is hours old and already has 300 replies, and is now DEAD.
Sometimes it lists deals which are new, with only a handful of posts, other times it whiffs badly and has long delay like this one.

Anyone know what's going on?

Thanks.

The RSS feeds are almost instant so I don't think it's on our end. Google might be caching it. When you look at the Hot topics on the homepage, do you see a disparity with the RSS feed?

it's google

it checks based on popularity. so if there aren't that many people using google reader for the slickdeals RSS, then its refreshed about every 3 hours

As far as I can tell, RSS is never real time. There is usually a lag (even in other RSS readers I've encountered). I could be wrong but it's just the way RSS is.
