I forgot to write about this and complain to RA about this incident on Monday.
I go to a RA store I don't usually go to on weekdays and bought some Excedrin, Biotrue, and Finesse. I was looking for some BC stuff but all that was left was one box of cake mix. So i have about 7 items total in my transaction and go to pay for it. The cashier had no problems with the $2.50 Excedrin Qs, I gave 4 Qs to cover 5 boxes. However I start to give her my +Ups to use, she stops accepting with $4.xx left to pay and says I don't have enough items for the +Ups. So I tell her that I am allowed to use as many +Ups to pay for my transaction and she calls for the manager.
The manager comes up and says no it's 1 +Up per item and I tell him that I spoke with RA customer service and they told me I'm allowed to use as many +Ups to pay for the transaction. He then says I remember you from a few months ago and says that RA CS just doesn't want to hear complaints and says anything. (last incident was many months ago regarding the same issue, back around summer time) I told him I confirmed with RA CS to make sure and took out my RA coupon policy sheet and read out the rule regarding +Ups. I also told him I'm sure RA doesn't want to hear complaints and I don't like making complaints either. He then proceeds to call his manager, I'm not sure if it is a DM or the actual store manager. He hangs up the phone and starts taking the rest of my +Ups. He didn't even say sorry or anything for the hassle.
I hate confrontation and this really put me off for the day. I'm not sure if I should complain to RA CS at this point but I hate for this to happen to another person at this store. I've been to this store before and half of the cashiers know better and takes all the +Ups.
Maybe the cashier was a former Walgreens employee! I'd say it depends on how you feel about the store. If you like the store in general then maybe speak to the SM directly to see if all employees can be trained on the Ups policy. I know complaints count against the store so give the SM the ability to correct the situation first. Maybe its because I worked in customer service but I just have no tolerance for rudeness and you shouldn't have to have your day ruined because of untrained employees who are then rude about it. But if the SM doesn't know whats going on then they can't correct it. If you get nowhere with SM then I'd say definitely call CS.

It wasn't the cashier's fault, it was a manager. He had on the business casual clothes and I saw him in the office part of the store. That's why it's more irritating. I don't blame the cashiers if they have been trained with the wrong rules.

Halokiti - I'd say maybe have a chat online with CS... cause this seems like a problem over in your area. And it is quite frustrating to have to read them the rules when they can't get it together to follow them. How many times do they want someone to call before they listen? Especially that comment about Corporate CS - I don't think he/she had to go there and say that to a customer. I suppose if this is a somewhat regular store for you - I'd say contact them. If not, then maybe let it go. Good luck!! I feel your pain. All the employees/manager should be following the same rules. It's written out plain as day and on the RA website.
Oh - I once had a CVS shift supervisor tell me that "Corporate says a lot of crap" - the actual quote - when I told him that Corporate CS said that they accept more than 1 coupon per transaction (totally within the terms of the cpn).

Responding to a Wags post over in this forum:
So I just crossed another Wags off my list. Fairly new mgr at one of the stores. Had a run-in when the Contours were 9.99 and I wanted to use the D&Y Q and he refused to adjust. No biggie, I said cancel and moved on. Went yesterday morning and got Rephresh, Arnicare, 3 Dove BW, Goodys,2 skittles - use Rephresh, Arnicare & BW coupons & went to pay with a 10 RR & a 4 RR - refused to take them because they were more than the value of the skittles and/or the goodys. HELLO RR 101. So I cancelled after attempting to discuss and sent email to corporate. You guessed it -exact same Assman called me with the exact same story. I tried to stay nice and just said we obviously are not going to agree on this, so I will take my business to the other 30 stores who do follow Walgreens corporate policy. He said I follow Walgreens policy. So I just said Thanks for the call. I am very thankful there are alot of Wags in my area.
I went through the same issue last week. This cashier had tried that BS on me a little less than a year ago. I figured she would have "retrained" by now. But she wasn't. She said I could not use the RR b/c my fillers were only 39¢. She did not even try to scan it - just said I could not use it. So she called manager -- manager approved it. First RR went through fine.. second RR ($1 skinimate RR)-- acted nutty. She only tried to scan it once... then she claimed that it was simply not taking it because my chocolate wasn't over the price of the item. *ahem* genius - it just took a $6 RR-which is obviously over the 39¢...
I kept telling her that it was due to the new scanners and the register isn't actually rejecting it -- it's not reading it. I kept asking her to only scan the short barcode & she refused.
What a effen mess. The manager was called. He could not understand the reason the register wouldn't read it. I tried to tell him about the new scanners like 15 times. He did not understand it. He kept thinking that it was beeping b/c it was rejected ("item not found" type deal) --even though it was NOT rejected - it just wasn't scanning period..
He tried every excuse in the book on me and I countered him & sparred with each line of BS. He was very nice though, just totally cluess & obviously in way over his head - he just could not figure it out.
Finally he tried to scan it and it went through.
It's truly amazing - they only tried to scan it one time before they decided it was not working for A, B, C or D reasons.. if they had just tried to scan one more time BEFORE all the wasted time/debate, then it wouldn't be such a time consuming mess.
However, I did get "revenge" -- a lady was in the cosmetic's area buying makeup - waiting to do her purchase.. as she's standing there - she picks up a colgate AND a lotion --which the BA's get credit for.. I could see the BA's light bulb and brain start spinning as the lady sort of paced and looked like she was going to head to the front to check out. She told the lady it would only be a few more seconds.. all the while - my debate was going on w/the manager and I was not moving until it was resolved.
I could tell she was semi-panicking -- thinking she's gonna miss the commission. Booyah.

I am not going to lie -- the evil part of me was elated watching the B.A. getting all nervous.

Oh I wanted to add that after the manager told her over the phone to scan the RRs..and the first RR went through.. the cashier did not say one word to me. :ranting:
No apology or even a smile.:bomb: She seemed ticked. It was REALLY, REALLY, REALLY rude. :bomb:
When my transaction was complete - the manager did apologize profusely and was very nice about the entire thing.
It is still irritating that he's a MANAGER and doesn't understand how RR's work  ..... or even know about the issues with the scanners. Seems like every other store I've been to they discuss how much they HATE the new scanners and will keep scanning until it takes OR just punch in the numbers. I am not sure why the manager did not take my advice to try scanning it again --preferably covering the long barcode) OR just punch in the barcode numbers. I told I had been having issues at a lot of stores - where the scanner doesn't read the coupon, but yet it took him 5 minutes to even try to scan it ONCE.

I have several coupons not scan with the new scanner at Wags this week. I had a BA that I love and she just pushed them through. She told me, "I know you do this right, so it must be the register's problem, and they don't pay me enough to figure that out." :lmao: She's a little clueless, but I love her because she always pushes my stuff through. :D
(How weird is it that I'm actually bragging on a Wags employee!)
I think the new scanners are going to cause a lot of trouble, and I'm dreading the first time one of my Jedis aren't there.

Twice now I have tried to purchase something that the coupon was a penny more than the item. First time my last coupon out of 10 beeped. Cashier would not adjust it. I said I thought y'all were allowed to adjust coupons now. She said no. It was closing time and they were waiting on me so I just let it go. Next time, different store, I asked before purchasing if she would be able to take my coupons that were .01 more than the item. She said I would have to buy one more to cover the overage, no adjusting. So I just put the stuff back. I had a problem with my transaction so the manager was called to take care of it. While I was waiting on her I got out my copy of the new wags coupon policy. I asked her about adjusting coupons and did they not know about the new coupon policy. She said "Oh I know about it, she probably doesn't." :shake: So why haven't they and when are they going to inform their employees about the new policy?? :mad:Aggravating

I seriously think I ran into the dumbest clerk in history in Target today!! I had bought the wiskas cat food trays with the buy one get one coupons, the coupon clearly and in large print says "buy one get one" and has a picture of all 6 different varieties of the product underneath, and she kept telling me she couldn't let me use it because I didn't have 6 of them!! It took me about ten times of showing her that it was buy 1 get 1 and that that was just all the flavors they had of the product before she understood. Then I had to explain to her that she had to write the price in on the coupon and that it had a maximum of 69 cents. She was an absolute idiot!! I usually have very good checkers at my Target store but, hopefully she is not one of many to come or I may have a breakdown!! It took me over 10 minutes to check out with about as many items. I had to keep pulling items out that she already bagged to show her that I did get them (when SHE had just seen them when she rang them up). STUPID, STUPID, STUPID!!!

I totally wanted to. Especially since he didn't seem to grasp the new scanner issue at all. It's like - let me SHOW you. Stop talking with the BS & just TRY it. He just took her word that it wouldn't go through... and seemingly didn't believe me..or maybe he just didn't understand what I was trying to tell him.
I told him that I am a big time walgreens customer & have dealing with the new scanners for awhile, but he still insisted on jabbering on w/his list of reasons it wouldn't work, rather than just trying to scan it - to see for himself.
I wonder how many customers have been screwed over by that BA.. and/or actually believed that manager's BS??
He was so nice though -- otherwise, I would call corporate, but the store is a good 10 minutes from my house & not on my usual route, so I will just skip it for the rest of my life.
 :lmao:
The B.A. is a raving beatch. :(
eta: As I was walking out, I did hear the manager telling the BA that the total for the order needs to be over the total of RRs though, not just one item.. so he did somewhat "school" her & I heard him do it. So maybe she will change her ways, but I will avoid that store from now on regardless.

I find that so weird that most if not all of these cashiers never apologize when they have been very clearly proven wrong, proven that their reasoning is completely bogus on why RR's aren't scanning. If I were them, I'd be completely mortified that I had just tried to explain away something by pulling just any old reason why out of my rear.

Ugh... This reminds me of an RA near my house. It is literally 2 blocks away, but I can't stand going there. The employees are so vicious and mean, even to people who don't use coupons. Once, i went there with a simple transaction, using a 5 off 25 q (in october) and 3 vv q's and a couple manu q's. She scanned the 5 off 25, then she scanned a couple of manu q's. She wouldn't take over $12 in coupons, vv and manu. She said I can't use a vv coupon with a manu coupon. She wouldn't scan a coupon that said 'free shave gel with razor purhase' because I was only paying $2 for the razor (she wouldn't scan the $2 vv) I showed her the coupon policy, and she said "It wont scan." I told her just scan them, they'll go through. She still would not scan them. Then I told her to void my transaction, I wouldn't pay for it if she wouldn't scan them. She started trying to be nice and all 'Just pay for it, voiding it means I have to call the manager over and explain. Please, just pay!" I said "Scan my coupons and I'll pay." She was so spiteful, so then just called over the shift manager (a nice one) Who simply voided the order and I got back my coupons. She actually kept my $2 Shick hydro VV q. I didn't get it back. I went there the week after doing another routine transaction, using just a $4/20 and manu q's. I went to the lady right next to her, and then while she was supposed to be checking out another customer, she started talking to the lady checking out for me 'Oh, she wants you to get in trouble. She makes up some excuse, then tells you to void the transaction." The lady I was checking out with was slightly new, and had a scared look on her face. I said "I won't void the transaction, no, just please scan the coupons." She scanned, I payed. The lady who I checked out with the week before had a shocked look on her face, like I was against HER.
2 weeks later was the last time I went to that store. It seems as though she told everyone that I was horrible, and that I was trying to get everyone at that store fired. When I walked in, she said "That's HER!" To the cashier next to her. I bought a couple of loreal items, then went to checkout. There were only 2 lines, the mean lady, and the checkout person next to her. I went to the lady next to her and the mean lady said "Don't scan her coupons. She has one for every single item!" The lady I was checking out with then wouldn't scan my coupons. I was so frustrated, I said, "FINE. Keep them!!" And then walked out of the store. I saw the lady's expression, she was HAPPY. I had complained on each trip about her, and I hadn't even received an email reply. Then, after complaining about that trip I got an email saying I would get a call from the store manager. I never received a call. It would be so much closer to just go to that store, but I can't handle it. After that trip I ripped up every single one of my RA q's, and didn't start shopping at any ra until a month or two ago (motrin deal!)
I know that you get slightly reprimanded for every transaction void, and that it doesn't look good. But to people who don't use coupons she is still mean. One lady was buying diapers, and she payed with a fifty. Her total was around like 17. I know that there was 18 cents involved, because the cashier asked 'do you have .17?" The person buying the diapers said "No, I just have the fifty." Then the cashier said "Oh, I guess you don't have ANYTHING at all, buying cheap diapers." I thought that that was horrible!
Thanks, good to vent!

It's because some of them don't like you to get stuff for free, for whatever reason, so they enter into this adversarial thing with you from the start. Then they make up any BS to try to make the transaction fail. For the 80% of people who don't push back (i.e., non-scanning Oscillococcinum coupon) then that gives them a personal oomph because they won and you lost.

BF & I left the house at 7:45 to stop at a Walgreens to get it out of the way before RA opened at 9:00
We did not bother going to "our" RA bc there is a woman who clears all shelves right at open and I didn't want to fight her. She is the reason I have to get RC on everything and then fight for the Up to be reflected on the RC.
Anyway....
We chose to go to a different store a few miles away and figured we'd be ok. We were there 1 minutes before opening and there were 2 other women and a mother-son team. One of the women made a B-line for the stax and used her arm to sweep the whole shelf-full into her cart in one fell swoop. We couldn't believe it!
No Stax for us but we did get 1 of each of the Combo flavors as well as 1 each of the BK and TGIF snacks. We grabbed the only 4 Bodi Heat (1 of each size for each of us).
We took a risk and went to the less affluent area and lucked out. The shelves were full. We repeated the 1 of each item for each of us. We hit a total of 4 stores by that point and I decided to go back to one of the stores bc I'd forgotten to look for the Betty Crocker I've been trying to use my RC on. The cashier who had checked us out and had been in a great mood, was now in a tizzy over a woman who came in and bought every single bag of combos and every single Nivea. The cashier said that she asked the woman if she cleared the shelf and the woman said yes. The cashier called the manager who said, "If she doesn't buy them, someone else will." The cashier was really upset. I guess the woman tried to get her to tack on a $4/$20 coupon after using a bunch of coupons and the cashier said she couldn't do it. When the woman persisted, the cashier said she would ask the manager and the woman said, "No no. Don't do that, just try it."
Wow.
I commiserated with her and said I wished corporate would put reasonable limits. She was grateful for the chance to vent.
I did some grocery store shopping and on the way home stopped at the very first RA we'd gone to in the morning. My favorite teenage boy cashier who thinks I am Wonder Woman (lol) said a woman came in and took all their combos. He said she justified it by saying she has 11 kids. I said, "That's the woman who clears out my "home store" of everything at open on Sundays! AAAAHHHH! She's branching out!
So BF and I decide to stop at the "home store" on the way home and figured there wouldn't be a crumb left on the shelves but were totally surprised to find quite a bit of stock along with signs that read "Limit of 5" for each brand! After talking with the cashiers, come to find out they did it JUST for that woman with the 11 kids. She was there at open and tried to circumvent their limits by arguing she has more than 1 Wellness Card. Yeah...she has hers and then 1 for each of her 11 kids! They are not 18 and apparently they've been caught steeling multiple times. The manager tells the cashier to make the customer happy at all costs so they can't do anything about her but they hate dealing with her.
They said that the store I mentioned with my favorite teenage boy cashier called them to warn them she was on her way and they said, "She was already here and we had signs up just bc of her!"
The cashier said the woman also insisted she did not get her change when the cashier KNEW she gave it to her. She even remembered the exact amount when telling me the story.
I couldn't believe she pulled that! I hope I never meet this woman!
The interesting thing was that the signs that were put up limiting everything were the large yellow signs from corporate. They had a date on them and everything. That makes me wonder where they got them from. Are these stores given these signs on a weekly basis and they are just choosing not to put them up? Not one of the other 5 stores I went to had any signs.
Sorry. Hope this isn't considered OT!

Great story. From my perspective as a Wags shopper, where many stores go to great lengths NOT to sell you stuff, it's encouraging to hear of stores that know their job! I have always supported reasonable limits. Yes, it's true that "someone will buy it anyway", but let's at least try share the goodies among more than one person, eh?

Looks like a great place to put this. I don't have a RA, so I can't comment on whether the sign is really from corporate, but what I can tell you is that one of my Wags has a new sign up that reads "only one RR item per person per day" or something similar. This is a VERY easy going store which I skipped much of the time, because they were always OOS by 10am on Sunday morning..because they were so easy going and people took advantage of it.
Interestingly enough - while I was checking out with my one transaction that included just one of each RR earning item and the scanner was acting nutty driving me insane... I noticed a lady behind me and her coupons..initially I was happy to see her coupons, b/c at least it wasn't someone behind me just wanting to buy a pack of soda & I am wasting their time.
Turns out she has THREE of each item. She had to have seen the signs in front of the items.. I didn't stick around to see if the cashier refused her.. and if so, what the lady did in response?!?

I support limits of reasonable amounts too. I like how one of my favorite stores does it -- they'll let you buy out the store on Saturday afternoon. I usually get a few things during the week, then late on Saturday - I will come back & have fun, if anything is left.
Some people are just really inconsiderate and will even brag that they smash & grab. They get away with it for awhile at stores, but then policies change due to their actions & it hurts everyone, including themselves.
It's such an odd mind-set - I really don't understand it, bc even if they don't care that they're being greedy and don't care that no one else can get in on deals because of their gluttony -- don't they realize that in the end -- they will shoot themselves in the foot? Like I said - stores will only tolerate that for so long, before putting a stop to it.

I guess if you found someone who didnt treat you like crap that would be OT :lmao: But good luck on that
Anyways ---- As far as the signs up at your local RA
Depending on the Age/Size MagicRA Corp Reasoning
Some stores get their signs delievered
and some have the ability to print in store
So --- I am guessing they just printed some up for the limits so it wouldnt be chicken scratch on an old ad
Definitely Do Not think all of your stores are getting these signs and just throwing them away ----
Ive got 15 I hit up on a regular basis and Someone would have told me this before

WTF? First of all, why does it matter whether she may or may not be lesbian? Second, unless she's parading the aisles in a rainbow shirt that says "I am a lesbian" it's prejudicial to say someone is "obviously a lesbian."
To the part of your post which I perceive to be the main rant, how does her pointing you out to a cashier result in a desire to sabotage her job? Are you doing something wrong or fraudulent? Or could she simply be pointing out the fact that you are a savvy shopper who saves a ton of money?
