<rant>
First off, let me start by saying that I don't mind helping at all. This forum has become alot more crowded from when it started and it's getting harder to weed through the threads (watch out, I just added another one).
But seriously folks, doing a little SEARCH doesn't hurt before you ask/beg for a coupon. Better yet, look at the thread devoted entirely to CVS coupons:
http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?sduid=204770&t=715594
If all that fails, there's a wonderful search engine called GOOGLE that will do you wonders.
</rant>
Mod Edit: Per permission of hvenlysent -- this will be the official thread for rants about service and employees at the drugstores now.
Mod Edit #2 (10-09-08): Score of this thread is not accurate -- but rather reflects the votes that were transferred over as a result of another thread being merged in recently with this one.

We will be making this the official thread for posting bad experiences at a B&M store (i.e. bad cashiers, poor service, coupon hating stores).
Please post any type of bad experiences you encounter at a B&M store here.
Any future threads that are opened up to talk about bad experiences should be mod alerted with the link to this thread (http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?sduid=204770&t=787335) mentioned for merging.
Remember that all of the SlickDeals.net rules (http://forums.slickdeals.net/faq.php?faq=slickdeals_legal#faq_slickdeals_rules) apply to this thread.
Do not attack others. Either in this thread, or anywhere else on the Board. If you see something that you don't like, use the Mod Alert function
Thank you.

Ya know, I see some people selling single Corn Flakes on ebay, pretending like their shaped like stuff and getting big bucks for one Corn Flake. So, I go splurge on a box and I decide its too time consuming to do the listings, so I sit down to eat a bowl instead. And then it hits me why I stopped eating them in the first place. WTF is up with the black friggin Corn Flake??! Its gross. Now, let me clarify I have no beef against blacks in an all white community...but c'mon Kelloggs, diversity can be had outside of the Corn Flake box for goodness sake! :ranting:

Okay.. Im a young guy in my lower 20s and last thing that people think should be on my mind is couponin..so i have some bar buddies and gf who bust my balls because i enjoy going to cvs when i have free time.. they call me the Coupon King.. they think im addicted and its been the latest few months i have been doing it more because of the 5/15.. whenever that coupon comes around, then i enjoy shopping..
but they dont mind drinking the pepsi, coke, redbull, eating my cheez its and raisin bran that i got for free.. and because i get it for basically free they think that i wouldnt mind if they go through and use it up... its not really free when i have to buy newspaper, blow gas and time on finding these things..
The Gf is even crazier.. she basically thinks im cheating on her with cvs.. she doesnt get how i have to buy items i dont need, like 20 womens deodorants, to get things i want, like redbull, pop, snacks, and other fun stuff like her expensive makeup she asks for.. all i can tell her is that its a filler but she doesnt get it.. she thinks the cvs workers probably think im a cheapskate and broke.. I told her what does it matter what they think, i sure dont care, and doesnt affect you.. I think most cvs workers are only making 7 an hour while im buyin their hourly wage in products for pennies in less than 10 minutes.. then i ask her, do you know who the biggest cheapasses are? The millionaires and billionaires..

I know how you feel. The bf doesn't want to walk with me into CVS. He would run the other way but he sees no problem using the shave gels and razors I get him. My friends DO make fun of me but that's okay because we're cool like but when I give them some of the stuff, they pay for my dinner and food when we eat out in return. If only CVS had lobster, I'd use my ECBs on that too!

My rant isn't about the drugstore forum - it's about the coupon forum. I swear, every time I post a Staples coupon and ask for PMs, after I've given the code away AND edited my post to say it's gone, inevitably, I will get at least 4 or 5 more PMs hours or days later, asking if I still have the code!

Got an email from a person at a "family" magazine site letting me know that I won the "hoopie hula exercise thingie and dvd set" from their recent contest.
trouble is
I saw that contest on their site when I was there entering other contests which offered PRIZES I GREATLY DESIRE. And I remember NOT wanting "hoopie" and NOT entering that particular contest
that dang thing was delivered and I found it hiding behind the trash can out front, and now in the box it sits by the front door
I dare not open it lest some fool in this house actually attempt to use it and take out one of the ceiling fans
so I look at the box and wonder "what the funk could I have really won?"
that is all

sorry felt like being mean...
I really dont like people who hold up the line with the paperwork they have to get out.. I also dont like that you have more than 3 cards.. even if you say your going to donate the items, theres other who will actually pick up those items like other sders... Like next week, with my infinity legit $2 excedrin coupon and when i crack the bricks coupon system within the next week, my infinity legit $10 Glucerna coupon, i could wipe stores clean and get paid for it..

Ok- I'm just going to vent here. I don't know how it happens or who is responsible but the SS and Redplum circulars I get are CRAP. Full of mail order forms for support hose, checks, and lennox figuries. If I get 3 useful Qs it is a minor miracle. I am dying for a garnier or something along those lines. But they just don't show up in my paper.
I rarely get CVS Qs in my email- and when I do, they are usually for items I wouldn't use in a hundred years. GRRRR

I really dont hate your kids.. i like playin with kids and then when they start to get annoying, give them back to their parents..
but i am going to be an uncle soon like Septemberish.. so i have started buying diapers this week cause of the cvs huggies diaper coupon.. im going to try to have about 2000 diapers buy that time.. I heard infants can go through about 10-12 a day..whoa!! i havent told my bro yet about this cause if something bad happens along the way, i dont want the diapers to be a remembrance also if i knock my current gf up, we will already have a good start..
this cashier that i think is pretty cute was ringing up the diapers for me.. I tell her," dont worry i dont have any kids yet and dont really want them now".. and she then tells me she had a kid less than 6 months ago.. oops.. i guess it pissed that cashier off a little.. shes the one that got me the .34 mm deal..

I found another thing to rant about..
say i use my dads extracare card.. something goes wrong and i didnt get my ecbs for my enema, it was nivea skincare but we will put the item as enema.. so i call up cs, they verified my purchase of enema and then say we cant authorize a change to your account cause ur not the main card holder.. by change my account, they mean give me my ecbs that i earned.. so now i have to call my dad and tell him to call cvs customer support so they can give me my ecbs for my enema.. because technically he is the only one able to have a card because of the one per a household rule.. I dont live with them, just saying..
thanks cvs, now my dad knows about my enema needs..
you can replace the item with preparation h, or tampons, or buttcream or any other personal item..

.
There is no end to this frustration. For instance, this week HP paper is on sale for 4.99..that combined with the $3 Q, plus the $5/15 makes it a good deal if you buy 3. Hello!!!! on Sunday morning the day of the sale there is ONE ream of paper in stock. Thats not the half of it. They are still out of stock of the photo books that were in the march extra book. OK, and here's another one. I use the self checkout at wal-mart all the time and I have become something of a pro at it. I can do it much faster than the regular cashiers at their regular machine.
I always get a person who :
(a)--> thinks it is some kind of spacecraft that landed from mars and they are the first earth creature to attempt communication
(b)--> decides it would be fun to let their 5 year old child scan the groceries while the adult bags
(c)--> has never used one and hasn't the first clue of the point of a self-checkout but decides that tonight they're going to experiment
(d)--> Tries to steal things by placing it in the bag without scanning, which the bag area has a scale and it knows when you put things there, but they just don't get it, and it keeps flashing the light and calling the associate to override, and the thief keeps playing dumb, and the cashier won't do anything about it.
(e)--> has rung up two basketfuls of crap and has decided this is the place where they are going to unload their $70.00 worth of pennies and nickels (becasue the wally world SCO accepts pennies)
(f)---> Tries to pay for their SCO with a check and spends 20 minutes looking for a slot marked "check" to insert their check
(g)---> And then tries to insert it in the cash slot and is just mystified why it won't take it

 What's wrong with these folks? I let this man get in front of me in line. I always do this. He says he will be quick. He only wants cigaretttes. As the cashier rings up the cigarettes, he decides he better call his SO and see if anything is needed at home. No answer. So he holds up the line until she does answer. Meantime I go check out in another line and buy a gift card. Thinking surely he must be done now, I go back to the other line and wait and wait and wait. Finally he gets the go ahead from his SO. So he closes his transaction. Then AFTER the register is closed, he decides he wants two rolls of quarters.

Then there is my daughter - everyone keeps talking to her in Spanish because they think she is mexican. Oh well I guess I will be blessed if they are able to maintain their own identities. :)
Oh, I have another rant. No matter how much I dress my little angel in pink dresses and bows in her hair, old people always tell me how cute "he" is! And TWICE I have had women say "he" was "flirting" with them! SHE's a 1 yr old GIRL for gods sake!

Here are some rants...
1st rant. I'm sick of coming to the drug store forum and finding threads like "My Ecbs didn't print, what would you do?" or "My CVS Manager in a fit of rage, ran me down with a buggy full of Garnier, should I call corporate?".. You know if you are so lonely for friendship and conversation to post needless questions, go sign up at Eharmony.com, and just pray they don't reject your application.
Of course, there is a such thing called the "BS thread"...
2nd rant. For months my family kept telling me "If you want to save money on groceries, go to Save-a-lot"... "Save-a-lot, Save-a-Lot, Save-a-lot"... That's all I heard.. Now this is coming from people who get coupons in the mail from Foodcity for free items and just throw the coupon books in the trash.... But I kept telling them that Save-a-lot doesn't carry name brand items and thus, I cant use coupons. Ive tried to explain when you couple Qs with weekly deals, you can really maximize your savings... But they failed to see my point.. So finally I decided to go and check save-a-lot out (it had been many years, since I shopped there)...
So My DH and I go, and when we get there the place is jammed packed with people. And I go through the isles checking all the prices on the off brand items, and I only find a couple of things that were a few cents cheaper, compared to Foodcity and Walmart. Some things were higher! But what got me was this.... You could tell that the vast majority of people in the store were Welfare/Food Stamp recipients. And all of the registers were backed up with the average person having 2 buggies over flowing with stuff and kids hanging off their arms. And I'm thinking "Dont these people know that they are being duped into shopping here".. These people really thought they were saving. Just because the sign says "save-a-lot", doesn't mean a thing.. They were paying $3.00 for a 12pk of cheapo brand pop, when I can go to CVS and get (5) 12 packs of Coke for .60 cents total oop (like I did tonight). Then you have to realize no wonder the dirt poor stay dirt poor. It is the simplest skills that somehow they have failed to learn. And so it angers me that the welfare office does not educate these people on shopping and coupon use. There should be a mandatory coupon class! It's heart-breaking to see people being duped, because they dont know they can get better deals and live better.</rant>

MM- The pill is not 100% effective against pregnancy nor STDs.
Not too worried about the STDs cause when you already have a bouquet of them, theres not much else left... also proper use of the pill is like 92-99% effective.. add a condom and it still is around that same percent..

See, they dont have to worry about the price of groceries though because they are not paying for them, the government is. I know someone who gets food stamps, she gets over $800 a month for her and three kids! Who eats that much??? It would take me 6 months to spend $800 on groceries! So, she doesnt worry about prices, and she shops at Wal-mart. Now, when it comes to non-food items, she's a couponer. Thats the important thing.

$800 a month for groceries don't go very far for a large family. I was talking about several things. Like some people (my family) lecturing me how to save, when they don't really know the first thing about it. And people (like my family and some poorer people) thinking they are getting a good deal, just because they see the word "Sale" or "save" in this case. My in-laws used to harass me for not shopping at Wal-Mart. This was after I scored two very large hauls of free merchandise for them at CVS; a decades worth of Hefty trash bags for $1.50/40; $.25/per item birthday supplies for my son; and an end cap worth of $.19 box of Halloween Kleenex at Target (this was 3 years ago; I still have numerous boxes). :dontknow:
I dont like walmart either. The people at my Walmart are the rudest people on the planet. And the little old lady greeter's are like Cops on a power trip. I get harrassed when I go in, and harrassed when I go out. And the cashiers are the coupon nazi's from hell. I had this one cashier about beat her register to death, hitting the keys so hard because I had 10 Qs for free soleil razors about a year ago and she was having to enter in the dollar amounts on each one. I go to walmart for one reason only... sunday papers... and then I take the Qs to CVS. I won't even get started on their price matching policy. Or honoring their price guarantee.

I didn't used to go to Walmart until I moved here in WV... then it just became a matter of convenience -- where I could go do my grocery shopping and hubby gets to *play* in the electronic section and my son gets to ooh and ahh in the toy section and both of them can get their haircuts (I go to the salon for mine, :) ). I haven't had a problem with their PM, then again I don't use it often. We have had better luck with using any coupons there (ip or man), so no complaints there. Nowadays though, I just go there for produce/meat, and the rest I get from CVS.

That sounds like every other wal-mart in my area. I used to go there for household items and batteries and the after-christmas sale. Then it made me depressed going into that place and I started buying these at Target - the store looks nicer and the cashiers are friendlier, but the price of some batteries was cheaper by $2 at wal-mart so I used to go in to wal-mart just for batteries. Now thanks to CVS I dont have to into that store again unless I absolutely need to.
My other rant is about the OD employees. They are so rude as well..

$800 a month for a family with 3 kids is not too much to spend on food. I've been trying to stick to spending just $125 a week for me and my two teenage boys. I use coupons and do all the double/triple coupons deals, etc. I spend a lot of time hunting down deals. It takes a lot of planning for me stick to the $125 limit. My boys eat everything in site. I can't keep enough food in the house.

Well, I have three kids (one is just 1 so she doesn't eat much) But, I average about $40-$50 a week on groceries. I get all I can from CVS and go to Publix for the rest. We eat well too. Its just a matter of not necessarily eating what you're in the mood for, but what's on sale.

I don't just buy what I'm in the mood for. I go to great lengths to save money. I have a seperate freezer that I use to stock up when the stores have good deals on meat, etc. I use the website grocerygame.com to maximize my savings.
I understand if your children are young that it is easy not spend as much. It used to be easy for me to stick to $50 a week when they were young. Now, my oldest teenager is over 6 ft tall and weighs about 170 lbs. He is all muscle and getting taller by the day. He is very athletic and constantly on the go. My younger teenager is growing up just as fast.
I constantly hear "I'm hungry". I swear, I wish I had just half the metabolism and energy of either one of them. I'd be a happy camper.
Thank goodness for SD, coupons, and cvs! They make it a lot easier to stick to a budget
Edit : Just realized that I should probably clarify something. The $100 to $125 a week does not all go for food. I also use this for all cleaning items, personal hygiene items, cat food, batteries etc. I guess that if I just stuck to food only it would go further.

So this is not so much a rant but a question:
I have heard people mention using the grocerygame.com but when I looked at how much it would cost me to sign up for the information I said forget it.
My question is do you get the extra savings to justify paying the monthly fee for the website? I spend a lot of time on SD (mostly BSing) but reading and researching the weekly deals and do very well without the website?

When I first heard about the site, the listings were not offered in my area. This had to be about five years ago, I think. Anyway, the gave you instructions on how to get all of the info by yourself and I started doing it that way. It can be done but I was spending at least many hours each week to keep up with it all besides the time it actually takes to shop. Still, I thought it was worth it. My kids were much younger and I had been considering getting a second job at the time. I was much happier to be able to stay at home with them in the evenings.
Then, when the service became available in my are, I started paying for it. I think it costs $10 for either 6 or 8 weeks now if you subscribe to one store. I subscribe to both Krogers and Albertson so it cost me $15 each time. It really saves a lot of time. I still have to take the time to cut out the coupons and organize them. But they keep track of the coupons that have been distributed and each week I just go the site and print out all the really good deals. I take the list to the store and I just have to pick out the offers that interest me.
Sorry about the rambling. Hope this helps at least a little bit.

I would hate to disagree with you here as you sound so confident. But..... my first child was born while I was taking birth control pills - and yes, I took them EVERYDAY at EXACTLY the same time and NEVER missed one. God has his own plans that pills do not always prevent - just a thought but maybe you want to take the "rubbers" out of package -
So, I guess MY RANT would be guys who don't have the sense to protect themselves and the ignorant women who think they know what they are talking about who then end up having children (yes, I know myself included) and then those girls and their babies (except me I did not) end up at the welfare office (I have used it before, not knocking the system, just the lack of education it provides as stated by a previous poster) - then people like us coupon users wonder why they don't have the common sense to figure out a sale and a coupon. Anyway..... sorry if this sounds like a personal attack - it is not! Just a rant on the topic we are talking about.

By the way, I think it only costs $1 to try out the site for the first 6 weeks. It's really easy to cancel online if you change your mind. My family of 5 was only spending about $500 a month before I started couponing, and that is with mostly organic foods. $800 can go really far, if you make things yourself. It doesnt go far on preprepared food, candy, and soft drinks. I am amazed that food stamps can be used on soft drinks and candy.

We have a store like that here, its called Aldi. Most people that I try to get to use coupons just would rather shop at Aldi. It is low quality food. I would never feed it to my family. Yes it might be cheaper, but it tastes bad and isnt as good for you. And you have to pay for your grocery bags or bring your own. I just dont get it. I would rather buy name brand items for my family, it is actually cheaper if you just use coupons and watch the sales.

I also have not been impressed with their produce. It forced to ripen and spoils quickly after you buy it.

I would personally rather get meat from a meat market, but there's none around here. There is a farmer's market that I try to go to every once in a while but it's a long ways from home. I do miss those from CA....... There is a Kroger down the street but is 2 if not 3x more expensive... and I do try to get stuff there when they're on sale. Packaged meat is packaged meat I suppose... I don't know if Kroger's meat is any less "treated" compared to the ones at Wally world.

Actually my friend has worked at both Kroger and Walmart. the "fresh" meat, like raw meat, that the Meat department cuts and packages is what I am referring to. And this person would much prefer to eat the Kroger meat. There is a difference in the packaging.
As far as prepackaged name brand meats, then there probably is no difference.

No I don't mind dropping whatever it is I'm doing at that exact moment (the dishes, the laundry, the vacum cleaner, and our toddler) to make you some corn dogs, and serve them to you while you're watching your basketball game (even though you're only a few steps from the oven). But when the timer goes off, it is I who has to run all the way from the other side of the house to take them out. If you ask me for some mustard after I already bring them to you plain, please just smile and say "NM hun, thanks!" or get it yourself, or otherwise your corndogs will be drenched in it. Why drivers insist on playing loud music through the parking lot at 4 AM. Geez guys everyone is asleep, the clubs are closed, everyone is at the Waffle House down the street, NOT hanging out in the Apartment Parking Lots...

I signed up for the trial offer and it saved me very large amounts of time, but where I am, it comes out so late it is not worth it. The walgreens and grocery stores come out on Sunday so you don't get the ads until the end of the sale by then everything is already gone. Then CVS doesn't come out until Wednesday so why bother. It did save time but I didn't have the patience to wait. :shake:

I have to agree to this, I have given up on trying to get my friends into couponing. All they ever say is you can't get anything good with coupons. The only thing you can buy with coupons is processed food and we don't eat processed food , as they hand their child a LUNCHABLE. :vomit: Or that takes too much time and you have to be orgainzed.

Yeah, I had a family member make a comment to me "Well I dont have time, I have a Job" then later said (after I STILL was trying to show her how she could save) she said "You must really be bored in life".... That really chapped my a$$. Just because they don't have the patience or knowledge about couponing, doesn't give them any right to try to put my hard work down. Then some old woman came up to my van , as I was loading it up outside of CVS and Said "Wow you musta really spent a fortune. I can't afford to shop like that." and I said "You would be shocked how much it cost", she then said "Well spending like that is just a waste"... I just let the believe I spent a fortune... But Im thinking WTF? I have never come up to a stranger and commented on how much they bought, more less been snide about it. Why dont people mind their own business,

OK. I will give you my #1 irritant in the entire nation, state, world, and universe. And I still get one or two of these a week, even in the 21st century.
Those people who have a whole basket load of crap and are standing there in the twilight zone while the dude is scanning them, then he says your total is 32.24 and THEN, and only THEN does it occur to the person that they are actually going to need to surrender some kind of payment instrument and THEN they begin rummaging through their purse/man bag/pocket/bosom/whatever to locate their payment..
.
and it's a checkbook and then they've got to write a check for the $5.44 that they spent on one bag of damn cat chow
...
...
AND they have to borrow a pen...AND they have to ask: "What is today's date?"

I bring my kid with me, but I also coordinate all my coupons before I go to the checkout line. My kid wanders around messing with the candy in the front while I checkout, but I don't see that harming anyone.
LMAO we are exactly the same! Or she messes with the Easter/Valentine's day etc etc displays.

It's heart-breaking to see people being duped, because they don't know they can get better deals and live better.</rant>
:soapbox: This is so true.
I call it the:" I don't have a pot to piss in, but I don't have the patience to learn how to get one ": defense. I hear it all the time.
I know a lot of people who are struggling, and most run out of food stamps way before the end of the month.I have showed people how to coupon [and that does not mean 100 Qs in a little envelope that most people think it does] and I always get the same response,
"I don't have the time or patience for that"
I cannot understand it. You have the time and patience to watch TV and to complain to me that you are always broke.
Also, I do not know what state the girl who gets 800 a month lives in,but I can tell u its not N.Y,. which has an extremely high cost of living and for 5 people I get 621.00 a month. I used to be an avid couponer and sale hunter and I would still run out of credit by the 3rd week. This is the first month that I have had an overage.
This is mainly due to cvsing. Most people on food stamps DO throw their money away and that is not because of a disregard for it, but as you have mentioned a lack of education.
I have mentioned at the food stamp office that I would be willing to teach a free class on couponing, and I was scoffed at because they said there was no need for it.
There are a lot of things that you cannot get with them, and quite a few do not make sense. One is that u cannot buy prepared foods. At one of my stores, they knock down the ready to eat chickens and vegetables about 95% after 7 PM. I was buying 3 cooked chickens and 6 tubs of sides for 4.50. Which is a heck of a lot cheaper than buying the uncooked food. I had to pay cash, but was surprised. But thats because the government programs do not give you an incentive to keep your costs down.I believe that this is promoting poverty. With education, these people can learn to grow their own fresh vegetables and pay a lot less. Also, If you do not spend your overage within 2 weeks,
they remove it. So why, most of them think, should I try to coupon and save money?
I have learned to stockpile and have more food in my house than others who have unlimited finances, because when you do,you don't realize that the ax could fall at any minute and you will need to. I am proud to get food stamps. I do not look at it as a handout.
I feel my DH worked for 25 years and paid taxes,so when a disaster fell on his family,
we were able to survive.
Unfortunately, not all can survive as well ,and thats once again due to a lack of education and the refusal to learn.

I think its wonderful that you offered to teach the low income at the welfare office on how to stretch their money. And it irritates me that they turned you down! WOW... It's kinda like calling "Feed the children" and offering to send them food. They will turn you down every time! Which you know most of those poor families they show on tv get food stamps, it just goes to show you how some people just don't have a clue on survival and stretching what they do have.
There is nothing wrong at all with getting Foodstamps or other help when it is needed, and there is no reason that one single person in the America should go to bed hungry tonight. Yet they will...My sister in law was shocked when I told her that she could buy seeds with foodstamps. So yeah, they dont even tell them that...

You can buy a very nice home in many parts of the country for the 80k to 100 k range. I have started researching this in the past few months.
It is probably the best alternative to poverty when u own a expensive home and have income problems. Shacks in nyc start at around 450k and up. I am looking at upstate New York and Pa. and I am still amazed at the kind of home that can be bought for 100 grand. I am looking at five acres on a river with a 6 bedroom victorian. It is quite amazing what u can get if u look.
and the best part. If u move, there will be no mortgage.

I am looking for some advice here.. I went to a CVS today; one that I do not normally go to. Well this young man working (AKA Shift Manager) was like the biggest coupon critics ever! He sat there and read each and every one of my coupons - which I might add were legit. I had a mixture of printables and reg. manufacture q's. (NON CVS Q's) WELL, say that I was buying 3 packages of Huggies diapers, he let me use 1 Huggies Manuf. coupon b/c the coupon said Limit one coupon per purchase. Same for Excedrine, Nature Made, Johnson's, Dawn, Bounty, etc.- you name. No matter what it was---I have never seen the like!!!
Have any of you all ever had such a problem?
I thought that I was going to cry--didn't know what to do--1 and 3 year old were throwing a complete fit also. Made me feel like screaming with them!
Worst experience I have ever had at a CVS--makes me feel like never stepping foot in one again! I mean I wasn't doing anything wrong and he treated me like a criminal of the coupon bandit gang! LOL I am sorry for carrying on...
Can't believe how much I had to spend on that transaction though---so ridiculous.

Can't believe how much I had to spend on that transaction though---so ridiculous.I'd go back in with your coupons and ask to speak with a store manager. That is absolutely ridiculous. They should refund you the amount of your coupons (in cash). Explain what a transaction is, and what a purchase is. That if you went to the grocery store, you wouldn't have this issue even if you had a hundred coupons. And that if the coupon states "one per purchase" you still were able to use why were you able to use 6+ other coupons, if there is a statement of "one per purchase"? Does that mean only one coupon ever in a purchase, because if so you just violated that wording! One per purchase means you cannot buy 1 pack of paper towels and use 2, 3, 4, etc coupons on that one item. 2 items means you can use 2 manufacturer's coupons.
The more I read about these horrible CVS stores, the more I love mine and want to go hug my store manager!! (He did, I was out of CVSing for about 2 weeks, except for one late night illness purchase, and the next time he saw me he questioned me where I was as he was very worried that he hadn't seem me in so long! And then when I told him my horrible news, he reached out to hug me--he asked if it was okay and of course it was--and said he'd not only keep me in his thoughts but if there was anything he could do for me, to let him know. I love that man   )
Hopefully it gets better for you!

Ok just wanted to comment on 2 posts I read in the last few pages.
#1 Homes for $100k=== I actually live in CA and although I did start looking for a house in the rush when house prices were at its peak there are homes in CA for 60k-250k BUT they are in not so populated areas. The 60k home was in an area in the mountains whereas the nearest shopping center had to be at least 30 MINUTES away. 150k homes were in Barstow and 200-250k Homes are in Mountain High area BUT these homes are small2+2 at most.
#2 Post I found to be quite baffling to me is the parent receiving $800 dollars a month on FOOD STAMPS. I've no issues with someone utilizing the system to go ahead in life BUT $800 dollars. Thats rediculously high, I've had my meats, poulty paid for with coupons, Milk and dairy items have coupons and other items of course and no prepackaged food. TO the poster that said about Kroger being overpriced, in CA we have Ralphs and Ralphs is actually one of the fave stores to shop at for me as a coupon shopper. They'll take all coupons and double up to $1 on the coupon on the first Q ONLY so if you buy items on sale with coupons and doubling you can stock a panty full each time they do the big sales. So I had almost an $80 dollar bill today at Ralphs and thats 10% of what this person gets and I got it down to a lil over $4.oo. Got noodles, cleaning items, more food(hormel chili) after coupon I think it was like 17 cents a can. What I'm saying is this person must be consuming Lobster and caviar with $800 month.
Oh and let me not forget about Target fiasco of pantene this week. Lets just say I can bathe in a bath of Pantene products a few times more than I wish to say and whats my oop, under a dollar and I even made money on the deal.

First, I would go back into the store and ask for the store manager, then I would explain what happened. That is probably all you will need to do, because any store manager knows the difference between "1 per purchase and 1 per transaction". i always use that as an arguing point to cashiers, I also ask "Am I not Purchasing 10 of these items? Therefore i can use 10 Qs, since it's one per purchase.". But in case resistance should ensue, have a cell phone with you if at all possible and call 1-800-shop-cvs right there. Tell the manager that you are calling corp so they can clarify the coupon policy, because last time you spoke with corp they told you that you can use 1 mfq per item. Or you can just skip all of that and call corp tomorrow, they will probably contact the store, who in turn will contact you. HTH

On the east coast, it is very difficult to find a home under 400k. If you look at the southern states and western plains, $100-$200k is not unheard of :greedy: :dontknow:
It is really great what you have done. I just do not understand how the mothers can visit this board and not understand the cornerstone of SD:confused: I understand your frustration. I see this within my own family to different extents. I can't help but to think how easy this really is.
Ooops by *here* I meant here IRL. I have tried several times to show them this site and teach them how to use Q's.

Ha! Here is the rant thread:
OK..so i did my first CVS deal today and messed it up.
I got the Pepcid deal..and 5 ECB back. I was so excited..silly me..then I did covergirl transaction..and wanted to pay with the 5ECB i just earned. The covergirl coupon from P&G wouldn't scan..it kept beeping. The cashier said..I could not use the Manu Q and the trublend Q. I told her the Trublend was CVS Q. I could tell she (cashier) was not happy and there were people behind and me and I totally freaked out. My mistake, I gave the cahsier the whole receipt of the pepcid transaction instead of just the ECB part, took my stuff and ran.
As I stepped outside CVS, I relaised I needed the receipt. I went back in and asked for it. It was hardly a 2 minute wait as the cashier finished the 3 other customers. She just denied having it. I told her I paid with ECB , and that I gave her the full receipt in error. She asked me what is "ECB" ?????? How could a CVS cashier not know what ECB are?
She pretended to search for it, took out a bunch of other receipts from trash and say..I dont have yours. OK, so I messed up, but it was hardly 2 minutes..how can they lose it? I asked her if she could look up my transaction and print it out? No go. She asked me to wait since there were more customers, and I did. She tried searching again and no go.
What do you guys think? I'm more leaning towards the cashier not wanting to give my receipt back.

I think in a convoluted way, that you made my point.
First of all , if your regular grocery bill is only 80 a month, what are you eating?
Second, the point being, that with couponing people can eat much better for cheaper.
Before I started couponing and way before food stamps, I was averaging a 1,200 dollar a month grocery bill. Maybe its the size of the family and the locations that are different,
but 800 a month over here without being a bargain hunter, you would be living hand to mouth.

OMG! $1200 a month on FOOD, from the GROCERY STORE? NEVER in my entire LIFE have I spent anywhere NEAR that........... for the good part of a YEAR!
Granted I have used coupons since I was buying all my own food, etc, but $1200 per month on food! I am FLOORED! I live in So Cal which is not cheap, but $1200 per month is $300 per week or about $40 per DAY every day of the year. What on earth are you eating for that much money?
So say you are buying shampoo, deodorant, etc from the grocery store and paying full price.... that is still a lot of moola!
OMG! I would have to get another job if I had to pay $1200 per month at the grocery store.

We eat fruit, cheese, tofu, meat substitutes, whole wheat grain spaghetti, oj, juice, soda, soup, macaroni, cookies (for child), rice, yogurt, cereal, soy milk, and more for $ 200 a month (a household of three). There is very limited coupon usage because of the strict diet. Except for the $50/month spent at Target, I have to pay $4 for cheese, $4 for OJ, $4 for Morning Star. There is no real discount with Stop & Shop or Star Market.
Sorry, I don't buy it. $800 for four is gross reckless spending; even for NY, Massachusetts, or California.
Who said four?
I thought she had eight kids.
I have 5.
also, I would think that not eating meat would surely cut your bill in half.
and yes, when I was spending over 300 a week at the grocery store, I bought everything there and the regular non sale price for oj is about 5.29.

With 8 kids u can buy in larger quantities. In california, we have price stickers on the shelves that say how much each item is, so we can easily tell if something is on sale. It doesn't really take a rocket scientist to figure out if you are on a budget perhaps buying the sale OJ rather than the one that is full price is the thing to do this week.
I have money now, but there was a time when I would write the date on the back of the envelope so I would know when the bill was due and what day to mail it so it would get there on time and I would have the money in the checking acct to cover the check. I STILL to this day look at the grocery ad. If chicken is on sale this week and ground beef is not, then chicken it is.
Not saying this is how anyone else has to buy stuff, but if money is an issue, there is no reason to shop like it isn't.

I had my first strange experience at CVS this weekend.
I've only been using the ECB's for about 3 months. I don't super-stack and I only have about $15 to $20 ecbs at a time. There is a store right by house and I usually go there once a week. My total OOP is usually about 50 cents.
When I went there yesterday, I noticed that the manager was watching me the whole time. It took me awhile because I was trying to use a $10/$50 crt, picking out the Febreeze items, and the Sunsilk/Dove items.
Anyway, when I started towards the register, there were two people in line. The manager walked over to a second register and motioned for me to come there. I had manfg coupons for almost each of my items. Also, I had several of the CVS coupons, plus the ecbs. She picked up each and every coupon and read over all it before she even started scanning them. After she reviewed each of them, she still read each one again as she scanned the. I felt like I was robbing the place. I can be such a nervous nelly. Nothing beeped and everything went through fine.
She never accused me of anything and I could tell she was going out of her way to be pleasant. I'm sure that it was a set-up though. She hoovered over me the whole time I was in the store and then insisted on waiting on me before other customers that had been in line first. I guess it's actually kind of funny. Oh well.

I wouldn't take it personally.. there is a huge crack down on coupons now that they are probably just trying to identify those who clearly abuse the system by using expireds/copies, etc. There is a cashier in one of the stores I frequent that like to lay out all the coupons out (probably to check for expiration dates) and then scan them while they're laid out.

Lets be careful here and not assume that all people on food stamps are uneducated and not looking for deals. I know 2 people on food stamps who use coupons and do the CVS deals and Target deals. They were both very happy to be able to make their food stamp money go a lot further and be able to save money on other things as well. These are people who are only on food stamps temporarily and do not see it as a way of life, but as a step to a better life while they further their education and try to get ahead.
Many people are using food stamps as a way of life and don't see a way out, though. Those are the people that I wish would embrace coupons and try to save some money instead of splurging on things they don't need just because they can. It does bother me when I see someone pay for a cart full of expensive (not on sale, name brand) soda and over priced, unhealthy baked goods with a food stamp card. (Not only should there be a couponing class for them, but also a nutrition class!)

Same exact thing happened to me yesterday.. Usually im in and out but the Shift supervisor looked through each coupon and laid them out.. read through each one.. she was being really slow about it too but didnt say anything negative.. she just wouldnt let me use two coupons on a B1G1 free deal and wouldnt let me pair a B1G1 free deal with a 1 off coupon.. hopefully this only happens once so they know im not an abuser, every coupon rang up right except the ones she told me i couldnt use but they would have went through if scanned..

I had did two seperate orders that produced 2-$10 RRs. Well I was in a hurry to get my orders done and leave, I noticed that the cashier only gave me the receipts and no RRs. So I told her about it and I noticed that she reached on the side of her register and gave me one RR. Well I told her she only gave me one and then she coughed up the other. But that is because I am a Demon shopper:bleh:, not because the world was handed to me on a silver platter.
Not to continue to belabor this point, But:
How many times have all of you couponers been snarled at by people behind you in line in a grocery store?
This has happened to me at least once a week including today.
Yes, It does take forever if every item you have has a Q attached.
I normally respond to their growls with the old adage:
"you are not paying my bills, so go away and stop complaining."
:D
:D Glad your open, honest, and willing to talk about this.
Rant #1. I HATE WALGREENS!!!! (yes i'm shouting)
Rant #2. To make myself feel better about my WAGs debacle I decided to look at my CVS receipt to see how much $$$ I saved...when I noticed.... ....I forgot to use my coupons.....Dangit....this just ain't my week. (yes, I know that ain't ain't a word.)
I think its the Raleigh area, I have had a bad week as well :rain:
hmm..good idea. I considered returning and buying in smae transaction to get a receipt, but, will I get the rebate money, since the receipt would show that I paid for it through CVS coupon/ GC?
And also, I hear horror stories about doing returns in CVS.
returns at most CVS when your OOP is so little due to coupons and ECBs is bad, even with a return/rebuy. Its easier to just say you forgot your receipt but you plan to buy other items. All rebates I have sent in except for one gives full price and does not take into consideration coupons, ECBs, etc.

ok - here's another rant:
I'm tired of people who don't help out much in the CVS threads, are hypocrites, calling others smash and grabbers when they probably started out themselves with monitors or batteries..
I agree! Also the ones that try to find fault with the ones that do try to help posting coupons and such. Instead of helping all they do is b---- and run off at the mouth about what others are doing to help..

Have a ?--- Have any of you ever had a problem with getting the $25 gift card for new prescription? I went in to pick up a new script today and attached was a letter from the store manager. Here is what it said:
Dear Mrs. Heather --- ,
Due to the abundance of free $25.00 gift card coupons you and your family have been using on a regular basis, I regret to inform you that I feel you have gotten more than your fair share. Therefore I'm sorry to say that I will not be honoring anymore. I hope you understand the purpose of the coupons are to get new customers and I hope you stay here at CVS but understand this is a business and I have to run it in a way that is beneficial. If you have any questions feel free to call me. I'm off on Thursday but here's my home # ----- and cell # ----. I will be at work all weekend. Thank You for your cooperation. Jennifer ---, Store Manager.
Is this Ok for her to do this. I mean I haven't gotten but a couple of these coupons/gift cards myself ever to begin with. I have 9 scripts filled monthly and do not see where getting a gift card every now and then for a new script will hurt CVS. I know that she is worried about it b/c it affects her bonus. So frustrating and upsetting!!!
Any thoughts OR suggestions greatly appreciated!

I was able to use one CVS prescription coupon for one of my hubby's new prescriptions. I had several other scripts that I filled the same day, but I was told by the pharmacist that they will only honor ONE per person EVER, and not per prescription. And it has to be on a prescription that has never been filled there before, ie, they will not honor it for a "refill" script. So I took the other scripts back and took it to Rite Aid, and used the CVS coupon and got the $25 that way. But then I learned that for Rite Aid prescriptions, they only honor ONE per person every 6 months.
If you think is unfair, you can call Customer Service and see what they say. You can argue that their fine print does say "Limit one gift card per customer per visit." That would lead me to believe I can re-use it if I bring it in on another visit. BUT, if you got the $25 coupon from the internet and didn't actually get it in YOUR email, you might not have very much ground to stand on. They have all that legal crap on there now about CVS reserving the right to refuse the coupon if printed on unauthorized internet postings, yadi yada yada.
The way my family goes through meds, I could easily get hundreds from CVS just by bringing in new prescriptions. I can understand why they would want to limit how many each person can claim. Another option would be to wait and then transfer them to other drugstores and get giftcards that way. :)
Sorry this was long......... I'm having a hard time sleeping :(

this sorta kinda happened to a friend of mine hjust a few months ago. We had the $30 script coups in our flyer, so she got a bunch of them, since her husband has 10 prescriptions, and she wanted to transfer them to CVS. when she transfered the 4th one (she did about one a week, or as needed) the head pharmacist got huffy with her and said they would honor it just this one last time, but then no more. she said he made a scene about how she was 'scamming them'. Since she is foreign and was very upset when she called me, she thought it would be best if i called CS for her. So I DID. The Rep looked up the coupon I was talking about and verified it did not have a limit on it. And that as long as the coupon was being used on a transferred script that had never been filled at CVS, and as long as it was used before it expired, that she could use it as many times as she liked. She even called the pharmacist and exlained to him they could not tell her she could not use it anymore, if she was using it by the above rules. So she did go back and ended up getting the rest of her scripts filled and got her GC (over another month or so, and after another release of a coupon in the flyer).....so long story short :lmao: I would definently call CS and tell them about the letter. If the coupon does not state 'One per person---EVER' or any type of limit like that, then you should be able to use them as many times as possible.

My CVS manager is now refusing to take any coupons at all, he says the 4/20 isn't valid because I'm obviously not a "new"extracare card holder.Which is a bunch of you-know-what. Those of you who have signed up to get the email coupons-have you used the same card multiple times? I have called customer care to complain about this guy, (its the same guy who badgers me endlessly about cards everytime I go in there) but I need info on how this really works..so I can put it back into HIS face.

Take your script to a different CVS - thats what I did! They had no problem giving me my gift card!
I did call and ask Customer Relations about this yesterday and they told me that the manager and/or pharmacy staff can do this. Really did not think that that would be there response.
Oh well, things change all the time. We just have to change along with it - plan accordingly. And be thankful for what we have gotten in the past! :)

More of CVS making things up as they go along. It's frustrating when the policy changes from CS rep to CS rep, from to store to store, from mgr. to mgr., from cashier to cashier.
Most pharmacies now limit RX coupons to one every six months or 1 per year. Giant Eagle used to take all I had as long as I didn't use them all in one day. Now it's one evey six months. I was under the impression that CVS did this too, although my favorite store's asst. mgr. let me use four qs, and they priced matched GE's $4.00 prescriptions. I'm going to have some new 'scripts at the end of the month and I wonder if they will take RiteAid $20.00 q on new or transferred 'scripts. I also have a $25 RX CRT that expires on the 15th. This store will take expired CRTs up to two weeks, so that might work. I'm going to ask ahead of time, so if they won't take the qs, I'll go to a different CVS.

Here's the link:

For some reason the whole link (that takes you directly to the page you need) that I tried to post only shows up when I try and edit the post. The link here will take you to the home page. On the left hand side of the page it says "Sign up for email offers, get $4.00 off". Click that and it will take you to the page to either sign up a new account, or update your current information. Create a new e-mail just for this if you have to. You need to put in your EC account number.

I never post but I had to share:
I'm not a "hard core" cvs'er, I try to at least carry over my ECBs- I have 3 CVS stores in my area.
Yesterday I went to one that I rarely go to. The store manager was standing at the cashier and there was no line. She gave me the HARDEST time ever. She told me that I couldn't use my ECBs because I didn't buy enough Items :shake: She said that they work the same as coupons and I needed more items if I wanted to use them. She wouldn't listen to me when I told her that they aren't coupons and that's not how they work. (I also suggested that she just try to scan them, to prove they wouldn't beep)
Then she say's "FINE I WILL DO YOU THE FAVOR" and I calmly suggested that she hand me my coupons back and I would leave without my items. She didn't listen to me and rang everything through wrong (the total was way too high). I reminded her that I had already said that I wanted my coupons back, there was now a line and she was arguing with me.
Eventually she voided my purchase and handed me my coupons. The final thing she said to me was "I doubt they will work for you now that they have been entered into the computer" (as if she was threatening me)
Today I walk into my regular CVS, hand them my items and yesterdays coupons/ECBs and of course they scan through without beeping (any of them). I wouldn't have been so bugged by the whole thing yesterday except it was the store manager treating me that way!

OK - I normally don't rant....but get this one. I was just at CVS....found one of those Craig MP3 speakers on 75% off.....had bought one before and liked it more than I thought I would....so I scan it, it says $2.49 so in my cart it goes. I complete my shopping and go to check out....and it rings $9.99. I tell her it was with the 75% off and scanned $2.49/ She scans it at both self serve scanners AND her hand held telzon thingy and they ALL say $9.99!!! She was really looking at me like I was from the moon and when she called the manager to void it back the manager tells me it is because it is now after midnight and it isn't 75% off anymore....no matter that it WAS on sale when it went in my cart!!! I guess at least the cashier didn't have to think I was insane anymore but STILL!!!
:soapbox:
Ok - I feel better now. (sort of)

I thought that I wouldn't have to post here - after all the CVS trips I've done, not until today have I experienced the rude manager. I bought an absolute plethora of items - my subtotal was nearly $50. I gave him a $4/$20 CVS coupon - no problem, put it through just fine. I gave him a handful of manufacturer coupons - all valid, for the items purchased. Again, put them all through just fine. Everything's going just fine, and I'm going to go out of here happy as usual, right? Wrong.
The hell didn't break loose until I started giving him ECB's to apply toward my purchase. I gave him the largest ECB that was going to expire in the coming week. After he applied that, I asked him what my subtotal was so I knew what other ECB(s) I could use. He told me the total amount including tax. I then politely asked him for the total without tax. At that point, his eyes bugged out, and he rudely told me. I handed him the rest of the ECB's (at that point I knew what I could use), got my final amount, and swept my debit card. As it was processing, he snidely remarked, "You know, some of these coupons require a certain amount to be purchased, but I ignored them this one time because there's a line."
HOLD ON!
Fact: The only coupon I handed him that required as certain amount to be purchased was the CVS $4/$20. All the rest were dollar off item, and the Contour "up to $30."
I had to remain composed, because I was about to lose it, and I happen to like (well, used to like) this store. There are a couple of cashiers there that are quite friendly - they must have had the day off. As he handed me the bag and the receipt, I looked at him, and said, "All of the coupons I handed you are valid for the items that I purchased, I can assure you that." He then looked at me, boggle eyed, and said, "Ok" with the same attitude that a teenage kid (this guy had to be in his 50's or 60's) gives their parents when they tell them to do something that they don't want to do. More like "Okaaaaayyyyyy" with an eye roll attached. I hate hate hate being accused of things that I simply did NOT do - just because my total OOP is mighty low doesn't mean I committed coupon fraud, it simply means that I used ECB's that I earned on previous purchases. The manager obviously didn't see it that way, and should perhaps do a bit more research before he goes pointing fingers in the wrong direction.
In summary:
This manager is a complete and total putz.

Well, I'm in Raleigh also and I have found that some of the CVSs are getting a less coupon/ecb friendly at some stores. I've also been told at @3 stores of someone coming in and over doing it with coupons. We are both "victims" of other people that may be going a little too far.

I'd like to know their definition of "going a little too far" or "over doing it with coupons." The vast majority (read: most all) of items that I purchase at drugstores are done so with coupons, simply because they're too expensive without it. If they're talking about someone coming in with a stack of $/$$ coupons and doing multiple transactions in the same visit, then I agree - yes, that's abuse, and the manager should step in. However, if we're talking about manufacturer coupons that are used to buy the item/quantity that it was intended for, then no, I would disagree with that method of thought.

They are talking about atleast one person that is coming in with a stack of coupons/printables. I've been told the same story at several stores. Stores that normally would scan my coupons without a 2nd look are now looking carefully at each one. I think they should address that issue with the individual(s), but that would make too much sense. CVS doesn't always do things in a logical way.

...yet if the manager I dealt with this morning had done just that, and looked closely at the coupons that I handed him, he would have seen that they were all valid for the items that I purchased. Instead he decided to make an asinine remark.

ECBs are earned and I don't think that using them should make a difference...BUT....I've noticed more cashiers/managers making smart comments/frowning when I pull them out. I do legit deals, but I'm still treated a little shady. That's part of the reason I'm getting rid of my 2nd card. It's no longer worth the extra hassle for me.

Ladies, ladies the only thing I ask is that before you throw down :boxing: with ANYONE at a CVS in Raleigh that you let me know first
I will be there with my lawn chair and

(sort of)
So you didn't get the item for $2.49?
They should have honored the price they told you, and over-rode the price to $2.49.

I was in my fave CVS so long today, I had to use the restroom. It was a puplic restroom, but it must be the same restroom the employees use because there was a sign on the wall reminding them to smile and be polite to the customers. To bad people who work with the public have to have such rotten attitudes. If they really can't muster up a smile, why don't they find a job in a room alone by themselves?
I'd call CS on this one!

I HATE HATE HATE how CVS has these $ ECBs wyb $$ worth of items. You usually end up having to spend way more than you want because every possible combination of items will leave you a few pennies short of the ECBs spend - you are forced to buy another item to make up the few cents needed. I ran into this on the Nexxus, Biore, and Garnier deals. Last month they changed the spend on the Tresemme to $9.90. They should do this on all the deals. They shouldn't make the spend amount something you miss by a few pennies so you have to buy somthing else.
What a racket! (Yeah, yeah, I know...... We have our own "racket" going....)

Yeah, that's marketing at work. :-) The good news about these deals is that you can do multiples on each card, so the first one you may have to buy more than $15, but the second deal you can buy less since you have the override from the first deal.
You win some, you lose some, it all works out in the end, and normally in your favor. :-)

Bad exp today, went in to get an Rx (I'm sick and it's not a good day to get hasseled) and decided to use the $25 gift card to do some more shopping. Checked out up front with a nice girl. All manufacturers. At the end, I found a 3/10 cvs coupon, so I asked her to run the cpn to see if I had enough cvs stuff (it was a large order and all bagged up). I think my words were something like "Can you run this and see if it will work." The old lady running the register next to her heard the tail end of my request, came over to butt in and loudly announced to everyone within hearing distance this would get them fired blah blah blah. Then walked away to the other end. I was mortified. So was my checker. When this biddy came back, I told her that I was asking for help in figuring out if there were enough CVS products for the cpn to work, and that I didn't appreciate her loud tone of voice accusing of trying to do something that would get them fired. She very unenthusiastically said I'm sorry if your feelings got hurt. I just wanted to get out of there as fast as possible. Held back the tears until I got to my car.

To answer your question first, no, they stuck to the story that it changes at midnight and if I wanted the cheaper price I should have checked out before midnight....I actually think the cashier never believed it was scanning $2.49 in the first place. Anyhoo....
I go in there today to scan my card at the stand alone for coupons (nothing Monday special, just the same ol' same old printed....I like those 2 coupons, but not worth a special trip) so then I go looking around for softsoap (none found of course). Lo and behold there is my MP3 speaker hanging on the SAME peg it was on the other night, yet no price sticker, and no clearance sticker. I really thought someone would have bought it by now or it would have been back on the normal electronics area pegs/shelf.....but just for my own grins and giggles I grab it to scan it.....and it rings up 99¢!!!

I'm sorry this happened to you. I hope you feel better. I'm going to call CS this afternoon to complain about one of the managers because she made me feel so uncomfortable. She tells me she doesn't take printables so I told her to take out one of the items ($1 Scott TP printable). People in FRONT OF ME just USED a printable! She had already bagged it and then just pushes it in back of her behind the cashwrap and made a loud noise and gave me an attitude. She always glares at me when I walk in so I decided I've had enough and will call CS regarding her attitude toward me. She always thinks I'm trying to steal or something when I look through my coupons. SOOOO MANY people in there look through their envelopes of coupons but she gives ME the nastiest look. Then after she rings me up, she just leaves the cashwrap like she was waiting for me so she can get satisfaction of screwing up my calculations.

No, The funny thing was, I thought they were just trying to intimidate me to get rid of me because of my coupons. My logic was this, if they were really trying to bust a shoplifter, surely they wouldn't announce it every time that particular shoplifter arrived. Wouldn't it be wiser to watch, bust and then permanently ban them from the store? How talented of a shoplifter could I have been? For them to have to go to such extremes? They must of thought I was the Grand Wizard of the Thieves Guild for them not to be able to catch me for months! Stupid me was just playing the game and not letting them run me off over my Qs. And I really still don't get their logic. They saw all the ECBs I was raking in... Why would I shoplift and mess that up? Why would I have to shoplift?. Here is the story I got from an insider... All the employees were told by the manager when I came in "Watch her Purse, it just gets bigger and bigger." Then as I would leave, the manager would say to an employee "See look how big her purse is now"... :lmao: But yet they could never catch me shoplifting :lmao: So they weren't worried about me walking out the door with a $200 order, that I only paid .37 cents for, no they were watching my coupon exploding purse :lmao: Ok im sitting here lmao just thinking about this.....Now The insider who told this left me with the impression that there are still a couple of employees who still think I am shoplifting after all this time, but the vast majority know better now. Ok I have never noticed the before and after dimensions of my purse while shopping there. The only thing I can think of was maybe when I put some coupon pamplets/ books in my purse, or maybe when I would go through my purse getting my Qs ready it would rustle my Qs and make may purse appear bigger. All I know is It really makes me want to go in there with a Beach Bag now...
:lmao: Oh I can't! I almost spit out my coffee and burst out laughing! Like seriously, why would we steal when they're PAYING us to take the stuff off their hands? Isn't that kind of dumb? When I complained to Customer Relations last night, they even told me that the whole purpose of the ExtraCare program IS to use it with coupons. That lady on the phone was so nice. Makes me want to slap some of the B&M managers silly! I'm not saying that all of them are just stubborn and dumb but there was another CVS I went to last night where the manager saw me use more than a couple of coupons and decided to announce to the whole world and the cashier that was ringing me up, "You can only use FOUR coupons." The cashier wasn't just any cashier-he might have been a supervisor or manager because he had a special key (manager key perhaps?). Anyhow, so then it just happens that I HAD 4 coupons in my hand, but I was going to whip out another coupon for the Scott TP but decided not to since the 'higher' manager was being such a pain in the butt so my OOP was slightly higher. Then I went back to the cashiers and we chatted for a bit and they're like, "Yeah okay. I don't think we're following that rule." I was very enthusiastic about them being so cool with me using so many coupons, I was about to treat them to dinner! Oh and it turned out that the manager was new. :shake:

for the first time i was DENIED at Target!!! WTF?? i shop there all the time, it's the majority of my grocery shopping!!!
what happened: i went to check out with my half-full cart of stuff. rang it all through while chatting with the cashier (i'm a talker, what can i say). handed her my stack of coupons. first one was for Whiskas cat treats, "try these free!". she doesn;t know how much they are, i tell her, she wants to double check anyway, so i wait while some teenage boy takes his time getting over there and back. next item.....item #2 of the entire transaction......pounce cat treats which i of course have a coupon for. coupon is $1/1 and the price of each was 0.94. she said "i can't take this". i said "oh it's no big deal, you just have to adjust the price of the coupon down to the price of the item". she stares at me. i said "it's your policy to adjust coupons to the sale price if they are over". she says "i don't think so" and calls over the manager, who is WICKED RUDE and interrupts me when i try and explain it to her. i said "i shop here every week! other cashiers know how to do this, it's store policy!" (yes i was getting frustrated. i was trying not to but come on, know the policies of the store you freaking work in). she says "nowhere in target's policy does it say that. you CAN'T change the value of a coupon" i said almost everything in this cart has a coupon that has to be adjusted......i had about $50 worth of stuff that would end up free and about $30 of other stuff, every single item of which i had at least one coupon for. she said "we're not changing anything for you". so i apologized to the cashier, said "i'm very sorry but i don't want all this. would you like me to put it back?" the manager says to me, "we'd rather put it back for you than give it to you for free"
AAAAURRRGH!!! what a jerk!! i did not have a single purchased, photocopied, altered coupon or whatever else coupon fraud entails, she was just a jerk! this probably seems like far less of a deal to anyone else than it does to me, but it's the first time i've ever had a coupon denied, nevermind abandon a whole cartload of stuff! i never thought i would really have to go shopping with a copy of the coupon policy in my purse, but i guess that's how it is.
i have already written corporate and requested a copy of the coupon policy. end of rant. i feel better :) JUST WAIT until that little girl manager sees how many coupons i actually have.

Stories like this make me so angry! I wish I could go into that store and tell that person how much their bad attitude and behavior hurt someone who was only trying to shop.
I used to watch people kowtow to my ex-husband, because he had the "look", and the superior attitude he was born with. So when I became a single woman and had to fend for myself, I found these same people would try to dismiss me, or brush me off. I quickly developed a thick skin, and an attitude of my own - when needed. Don't let rude people like this biddy get to you. Give as good as you get, and be sure and call CS and let them know you were so upset by the treatment that your burst into tears.
While CVS is revamping their coupon system, they might also give a care to customer service, and give their employees some re-training in how to treat people decently - especially as everyone is trying to get a handle on all the changes. I've said this before, and I'll say it again. One of these days, an over zealous coupon Nazi is going to humiliate and accuse an honest customer in front of other waiting customers, and that person is going to turn around and sue CVS.
P.S. The $3/10 would have worked if scanned, even if you didn't buy one CVS item. They work on anything...if the cashier will take them.
P.P.S. Feel better!

Technically if they accuse you of stealing or fraud and there's anyone else around it could be considered defamation. Granted, you'd have a hard time suing over it and winning unless you're in a district where the judges are more sympathetic to the common man than to a corporation.
Even if you lost though, it could cost CVS a lot in litigation costs.
(is it sad that I keep applying my business law class to slickdeals?)

I usually don't have a lot of problems with coupons, the fact that I don't really use a large quantity at a time (I think five or six is the largest amount I've had at once) might have something to do with it. The other day I was at Smiths (a grocery store), and I had about $40.00 worth of groceries. I had a coupon for a free package of Glad trashbags that the company had sent me. A couple weeks prior I had discovered several bags with their sides split, in an unopened box. I sent an email, and they were nice enough to send that coupon.
So anyway, I have that coupon, and an internet Cottonelle coupon for $1.00 off. I hand them to the cashier, and she stares at them, like I handed her foreign currency. First she looks at the Cottonelle coupon.
"We don't take copies," she states. I inform her that it isn't a copy, it is printed from the internet. She sets that coupon down and starts to scrutinize the Glad coupon.
"We don't take coupons from the maker," she claims.
"You don't take manufacturer's coupons?" By now I am getting frustrated, there is a line behind me, and this cashier is acting as though she has never seen a coupon before. She turns it over, and begins to read the back. Over a minute later, she tells me that I have to send it in, and points to the part that says "Retailer: Send this coupon to blah blah blah, we pay face value plus 8 cents postage" At this point I am pissed off, I can't stand ignorant people. I tell her in a condescending voice that I am the consumer, and they are the retailer. I add that she needs to go consult a manager. She does so, and sheepishly comes back a minute later, and scans both coupons.
Gotta love people with poor reading comprehension who always think they are right.

I heard back from corporate CVS just 2 days after my email describing my bad experience. The note said the regional manager (named) had been made aware and "I can assure you that this type of behavior from our employees is not tolerated by CVS and action will be taken."

At Rite Aid the B1G1 glade warmers were not ringing in B1G1. I asked if they were (knowing they weren't, but I've found asking is a nice way to point out something is wrong.) The woman who a few weeks ago told me she couldn't accept my coupons because I wasn't buying the items -- she rang the coupons in before the items -- she was working. I asked her why they weren't ringing in b1G1 and showed her the ad and then told her there was a tag saying they were B1G1. She said she didn't put it on the shelf and SHE didn't have to honor that price. Needless to say the manager heard this and came over and said it had to be honored. All other rite aid employees are great with coupons except this one woman and she's so rude about them and sale prices.

I really hate the manager at the conover CVS. This store used to have the nicest people but since she's been manager all the employees are scared to death of this nazi. SHES A BIG BEOTTCH. She will not let me use a 4/20 mailer I recieved a month ago without my total being 20 after coupons and ecb's. This really stinks. She stinks. The previous manager was so nice and had no problem with coupons. She won't even let me take coupons out of a basket that are for the public. I grabbed a handful and there were still hundreds left in there and she said I couldn't have all of the ones I took. She let me have 2. These were coupons for nivea that are in a basket waiting for people to take. Yesterday she said mam I've noticed you use more than 1 card in here and you can only use one from right now. She wrote down my card number. I hate herr.
The manager at my CVS refused to take my airwick coupons yesterday. These were color printed coupons, on heavy duty paper with my NAME on them - I showed him the name was the exact same as on my ECBs and he still refused. We stood there and argued for 10 minutes while an irate line formed behind me. He absolutely refused to call corporate, telling me to go home and call them, that's what they have an 800 number for! I asked him to scan it and he refused that too, "Oh I know it will scan just fine, but I'm not going to scan it, because we don't take those." Unbelievable.
He insisted that this is nationwide CVS policy ("at 6000 stores!") and has been for years - no internet coupons of any kind, and any CVS that has taken them from me is in violation of corporate policy and should be reported.
Worst of all, he and his incompetent cashier who kept messing up my order flustered me so much I forgot to use my coupons for the Garnier deal. I feel like doing a return/rebuy out of spite.
Today I called corporate and they are supposed to talk to him.

I've been fortunate (so far) to not have any reason to complain to corporate, but if it were me, the email would be sufficient because I know that they addressed the issue, and especially since they said talked to the person complained about. Lately, I've noticed this trend of people complaining to corporate and expecting to be compensated for their troubles with EBs or giftcards. I guess in some extreme cases, that would be appropriate... but it's not a right, it's a privilege.
I complained to AT&T about yet another instance of an AT&T employee trying to sell me something I didn't need, under the guise that I had to have it.
Long story, but the upshot was, the "supervisor" asked me what I wanted him to do. I guess this is the new way supervisors deal with customer complaints - brisk - chop, chop - cut to the chase. So I said this person should be spoken to about his deceptive sales practices (probably never gonna happen), and then I remembered how I got over-charged on the price of a phone package by another unscrupulous sales rep. I told the supervisor I wanted $22 to compensate for what I was over charged, and he said done; credited to your account. Had he not asked what he could do, I would not have asked for the money - even though they owed it to me. I made a big enough stink at the time about other rebate offers I didn't get and other things promised not recieved, that when I caught this "error" a year on, I just accepted it when they told me it was to late to do anything about it. (Going 'round and 'round with AT&T made my blood boil, and my blood pressure shoot up, so I didn't fight as I usually would for the $22.00.)
If you make your complaint and ask for or expect something they don't offer (unless you feel they owe you money for some reason), it kind of taints your complaint (IMO) if you ask to be compensated.

I'm LMAO reading this.
I actually do take my two big coupon files into my favorite store with a small canvas beach bag! They know me, so they don't have any problems with the bag. I don't bring it in to any other store.

Hello Fellow CVS SD'ers,
This store is in Michigan on woodward & Square lake road in Bloomfield TWP.
I know I am stupid to go back to the same store when they gave me a hard time once in accepting the 4/20 coupon. Back then the cashier told me that he can accept the 4/20 full page with email header with my name on it and will verify against my drivers ID. Crap!
I said fine and completed my transaction with more oop than expected. I was okay, but decided not to go back to the store anymore. But today I was badly in need of M&Ms at work so I ran to the same store at lunch.
This time I did not have 4/20 coupon. I was positive in making a deal by buying M&Ms and the EOB gift bags. I was carrying a CVS bottle deposit slip worth $6.50. I got 2 bags of M&Ms and 3 EOB Gift bags. The cashier scanned my EC card and the items the total came to $8 and some change. I handed over my bottle deposit slip, the guy immediately called the store manager.
I thought "What the F...???"
The guy came back to me and says, "We cannot accept this bottle deposit slip!!!"
I asked, "Why not ?"
I will be damned if any of you can guess the answer and the reason for not accepting the CVS bottle deposit slip.
Just told him "Thanks! I did not know this" and walked away thinking I will never ever go back to that store in my life!
This thread is all yours to guess the crap out on what the answer was and the reason behind his answer.
Also, please share your wierd experiences and reasons for not going to a specific Store
:omg:
A.
Reason : "The bottle deposit slip is not from this store, if we accept this then the other store will make money and our store will be at a loss"

I hate herr.
yes. I know you hate her.
This is the 2nd site that you have stated this.
You have a great debate going at hcw.

This morning's little rant:
Why can't items clearly bountiful in number on the clearance shelf with no actual price attached to them but just a pathetic little 75% off sign with a notice to go check prices on your own at the price scanner located near the magazines actually ring up at a price (any price for that matter!) than have the scanner beep at me and tell me the item is not in the system?
This happened with about 6 DIFFERENT Lumene items and all of the Burt's Bees travel size items I found scavengering at 2 CVSes off my normal route today...
Wow. Longest rant run-on sentence ever... Probably should use some commas or semi-colons, oh well.

Call around your stores and see if any of them will take it..After calling around a few stores I found that 2 of them take expired ecbs for upto a week in my area..(actually at one of them, it depends on which manager is on duty - night manager accepts and the other one doesn't), but atleast I know where to go when I have expired ecbs. Wish I had known this a few months ago when I let about $30 ecbs expire..

I'm posting a complaint letter I sent to Walgreens Customer Relations this morning in regards to RANTS about their customer service.
04/18/08
Dear Walgreens Customer Relations,
I bought 2 cans of baby formula at Walgreens 2 weeks ago. I came to this store yesterday 04/17/08 to exchange them for the convenience travel packs. Everything was fine, no problem. Mr. D, the assistant manager that helped me yesterday was very nice. I came back to this store this morning to buy a birthday card. While I was walking around, I saw Mr. H, which I recognized from seeing him at another Walgreens store. He gave me an odd look, but I didn't really pay attention, until I came to the register to pay. While the cashier was ringing up the transaction, the phone rang. I can hear him [Mr. H] talking to this cashier about ME, "that customer that you're helping", I heard. I couldn't make out the rest of the conversation; he was about 20 feet away. The cashier was being polite, just "yes" "uh-huh" to him. After she hung up the phone, I asked her, is he talking about me just right now? She said, yes. He called to say that you returned 2 items yesterday when you're not supposed to, they were baby formula, and we can't return or exchange them. We had to toss them, and lost that money. I was too shock to find a reply to this comment.
Number one: there's no posted sign in the baby formula section stating that no exchange nor refund allowed.
Number two: Mr. D processed the transaction. Mr. H wasn't even there. I'm not trying to get Mr. D into trouble, for he was very nice and courteous to customers, but if anything wrong, such as loss prevention to the store, Mr. H should talk about it with his colleague. Proper training about store refund policies should have been previewed among your employees. If one wasn't aware of the policy and processed the refunds to the customer already, Mr. H should honor that decision, but warned his colleague for future reference. It was not my fault. I do not work for Walgreens, I do not know about Walgreens refund policies. Is it my responsibility to know about this?
Number three: this was done yesterday. It's a done deal. Is it in Walgreens policy to go after the customer for retribution if a transaction was wrongly done? I'm I supposed to return the money that I get back from the refunds now? Or am I supposed to not go back to this Walgreens EVER because Mr. H will give me this kind of treatment EVERYTIME?
Last but not least, Mr. H gives me a feeling that he's picking on me. Otherwise, HOW in the world that he wasn't even there yesterday, but he could pin me down today to tell the cashier to tell me about the refund? It's not as Mr. D was there to point me out to him. And anyhow, if he wants to say something to me, in which he had no rights to in the first place, he should do it to me in person, not send his subordinate to do his "dirty works" for him.
I believe that Mr. H's conduct was un-professional and un-called for. I feel that I was treated un-fairly by Mr. H’s attitude towards me. I felt really embarrassed in front of the cashier. She was put in an awkward situation. All of this was because of an unnecessary act from Mr. H.
Needless to say, I will definitely avoid these two Walgreens stores that I know has Mr. H’s presence to eliminate any more future uneasiness on my part. I would like to voice my opinion just so other customers will not get the same un-professional treatment that I got today from Mr. H.
Thank you very much.

OK people. I have already ranted about this once but it happened again to me tonight. The folks who come and empty their piggy bank into the self checkout. Literally, she pulls a big plastic baggie out of her giant purse that must've had two pounds of pennies and nickels and starts feeding them into the machine. I was behind her in line, went past her, used another machine, scanned bagged paid and done .. all the while she is still pumping the pennies into the machine. I am under the impression that the self checkout is supposed to be a quickish thing. Am I totally wrong in that impression?

The store closest to me generally won't take expired ECBs although some cashiers do; the manager plays by the book. Two other stores not to far away will. So do call around and find out.

maryccc.... I know exactly which manager you are talking about. She really acts like the store belongs to her! How do I know? Because she was transferred from the Statesville store. She caused the same issues in Statesville.
Just before Christmas, I was in the Statesville store when she was working, She rudely informed me that I could only use one manufacturers coupon per order, as it was coupon fraud to use more than one manufacturer's coupon if using ecb's. I called CVS from my phone while in the store and they were finally able to convince her that customers can use coupons along with ecb's. She was even angrier when she got off the phone and told me that I should take my coupons to another store. As I was leaving, a very nice cashier told me that she was being transferred to the Conover store shortly.

At my nearest CVS, there is a new cashier that gets very flustered and defensive about coupons. I went in last weekend with a buy one get one free coupon and she got very upset and said "well it would help if I knew this up front." I explained to her that no one has ever asked me to tell them about my coupons before ringing the transaction On the next coupon, she says, "Is this just a regular coupon?" I was rather annoyed, but she said she was new, so ok.
Today I went back and she was there again. I had 6 items: 2 bags of M&Ms, 2 bottles of Propel, 1 Softsoap SPA body wash - 18 oz. and 1 individual Starburst. I had 1 coupon for the Softsoap. I give her the coupon and she says, "Did we purchase this?" There are 6 flipping items in the bag and it was sitting right in front of her....why not just look in the bag if you can't remember ringing something 2 items previous? Her tone was very accusing as well. I showed her the body wash in the bag right in front of her and asked her, "Why would I give you a coupon for something that I am not purchasing?" No response.
I mean I understand that new cashiers don't know all the ropes yet, but this women seems to have a serious coupon issue. Since this store is 2 minutes from my house, it is very annoying. RANT over.:)

I am a long time CVS Customer. I am smart about my coupons and I make sure I wait to use them to be sure I match them with ECB at the best time and CVS coupons that match. I have never been pushy or arrogant about my purchases and how I purchase them with the CVS associates (all of whom I am always polite and chatty with).
Tonight I had devastating experience that I am still shaken up about. While I know there has been a lot of discussion about returning monitors - please indule me for a moment with this story.
I had legitamately bought a NOVA Max a long long time ago. I bought it for my Aunt who comes to visit once a year because one year she forgot some stuff and I was runnig around trying to get her test strips etc...
Anyway, she does not like the Nova Max and since i knew people have had such trouble returning them I figured I was SOL on that purchase. However, when this Contour deal came out I decided to inquire before even attempting to return it becuase I did not want anyone to think I was pulling something over on them.
I talked to one of the regular cashiers who was covering the pharmacy tonight. I showed her the new Contour, explained my situation and asked if it was OK for me to return the UNOPENED Nova Max without my receipt. She said "absolutely" you will be refunded for what you paid for it...just bring it up front. This cashier is nice and friendly - so nice in fact I have called CVS corporate to commend her!! :worship: I dropped the Contour off at the front counter so I could run outside to get my Nova Max in the car. I came back in and was being checked out by the night manager (a woman who proceeded to ream out a cashier for not "locking up" her blank gift cards and that "she could be fired" "no questions asked for this mistake" All this in front of numerous customers. TI felt horrible for the young chashier and tried to give her a smile but (note: foreshadowing here) she would not look right at me. Then the manager told me I could only get $20 for the return and I explained that was fine because that is what I paid for it. Done, right? Not so much.
I told her I was still shopping and could she hold the new Contour I was going to buy while I continued to shop. I walked away with every intention of not going back up there and taking my time shopping until that mean manager was back on the floor stocking shelves becuase she was a such a mean person and had made me totally uncomfortable. I was so taken aback, that whileI shopped I had not realized that she had kept my gift card AND my licsence! Odd, right? You bet!
1/2 hour later she was still up there, so I gave up stalling and headed up with to make my 6-7 purchases. When I get up there I see a cop standing there with my liscence in his hand. The mean manager then continues to accuse me of trying to return something for $60 (where did she get the #?) for something I did not pay for (which I did pay for) . She also said that her two young cashiers there earlier had saidthat "I returned monitors several times that week" (and this was one of the cashiers I had felt bad for a short time before!:vomit: ). I did not and HAVE NEVER returned a monitor in my life! I have barely every returned anything to CVS except a thermometer for my kid that was broken.
I told her to run my name, number, CVS info etc..through the CVS system to prove that fact...during all this I realize the police officer is sending my name out on his radio to "check me".
Can you beleive this?? ?? No matter how weary they are of scammers out there who return stuff they in essance did not pay for CVS should never just accuse and jump to conclusions without any proof or reasonable information. I understand there are people out there who do return bogusly -- but this manager took this all to an extreme when they had the police involved, at the front end of store, in front of everyone...and I live only 3 blocks from it-- this is my hometown! :O
She continued to loudly accuse me of wrongdoing while all the while not really making any sense. I had told her in the first place I only expected the $20 I paid for it with and that I was a REGULAR customer that I had spent plenty of money there due to their deals. The police officer started to realize this as well. He actaully apologized to me and said that he comes in there a few times a week as well.
I beleive the manager realized she should not have taken a bit of complaining from two young cashiers without looking into it a bit more and took things that far. I also believe the two accusatory cashiers were just fed up with a regular like me because I use coupons which makes them push more buttons than usual (I always approach with coupons ready and in order). I finally got a few words in edge wise and the manger started back pedaling and saying "well, "people" have come in to return monitors and this is something we have to just inform you about". Yeah, with the police??? At that point, I am crying :( . I am a woman and I am by myself at a CVS at 11:00 at night (not the safest) and being treated horribly and interrogated by the police -- for nothing!
Be careful folks -- even legitamate returns - even if you check ahead of time. Some managers seem to get a rush about the possibility of busting someone that they get carried away.
Sorry for going on so long and I know some folks may say I deserved a hard time for trying a monitor return -- but it was legit and I asked permission ahead of time. I have never been more embarressed in my life and truly feel that i was terribly mistreated. I heed the advice of others on slickdeals and only believe in working legit deals. I am grateful to one of the other cashiers also on that night and who knows me well becuase she actually jumped into the middle of all of this and said that I am a regular, have never returned anything to her in the numerous times she has cashiered my purchases and that the "two other cashiers must have been mistaken". I thank her for her attempt to shut that terrible manager up!

:hug2: Sorry to hear about this. I hope when you wake up that your nerves are calmed down and that you take the opportunity to speak to someone at CVS. I would get the District Manager's phone number and not only call the corporate office but give them a call as well. The manager and cashiers should all be spoken to and I would demand a personal apology from each of them. Like you said that is your hometown, what happens if someone was in the store that knows you overhead what was going on and went to tell others? They need to understand that there are repercussions to their actions.

Call the corp and the district manager. Make sure you get something from the awful experience. The lady was NOT supposed to show your DL to the officer. there wasno cause there. Make a big stink by calling the corp/dm and boy, will they regret

 Scanlewis, I'm sorry to hear that you were treated that way. That manager's actions are inexcusable- especially holding onto your license and then calling the cops while you shopped! I'm going to echo everyone else's reply and hope that you call corporate and the district manager. After all, you (the customer) are the reason that moron manager receives a paycheck.

Thank you to SD'rs ImNotMariah, AngelaMc, OneCoolGal, NCSUFire & Sojourn for not only reading my long rant but for posting your support, advice and understanding. Thanks to your kind words, I feel a lot better even though I barely slept last night.
I WILL call that store's head manager, I WILL write a letter to the District Manger as well as Corporate Headquarters and I will be sure to tell everyone I know to be cautious with CVS going forward.
I, as many of us here, am on the CVS Advisor Panel. I am also someone who does not hold back from making sure a job well done get's praised to an employee's higher ups and I often blog and post about good experiences (of which I have had many). For this, I will adamantly do the same about a horrible experience like this.
I think it is a good idea that NCSUFire had about expecting an apology from those two girls who meanheartedly indicated that we had "been returning monitors regularly" (which we NEVER have EVER done). Part of it all could be that those girls have issues with myself and my girlfriend as we often shop together. We are kind and respectful folks, but it can be a cruel world out there and for the FIRST TIME in my life I may have experienced homophobia and an overly aggressive manager who just likes to "get ya'". I swear she was shaking with excitement as she accused us (FALSELY)!!!

Screw "mentioning" an attorney - you SHOULD call one for real and tell him/her what happened. I cannot imagine that you do not have some sort of an actionable civil issue here. You obviously have enough witnesses... Slander perhaps?
I like the way you think! At the very least I do think she could get a pretty nice CVS gift card from this one. They sent me a $10 GC for a complaint I had about a manager not taking my CVS printable because it was black and white. I think this one is worth a $200 GC easily, especially if she mentions a lawsuit!

Some *basics* on defamation (which is where a charge of slander applies legally).
http://www.encyclopediadramatica.com/Defamation
The "Elements of a Tort" required to bring/win a case is the main reason to read this page - does your situation meet all the requirements for a Tort? The damages part will probably be the hardest to quantify, that is why you consult with an attorney...
More complete info here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slander
At the very least, this stuff will make you sound scarier to non-legal DM's and Managers when they try to pull this crap and you can recite the elements of a Tort in relation to your situation. ;)

This sounds like a clear case of discrimination; I would recommend following the advice that other posters have given, and consult a lawyer. It is a shame that someone would be that cruel, I hope that manager loses their job.

I honestly feel an apology is the very least they could give you. I thought I had it bad with a certain cashier at my one Target who harasses me every time I use ANY coupons. I avoid her line purposely, but often she comes over to the checkout I am in and stands beside the cashier! I use my coupons legitimately but she always tries to find fault and if she can't, she limits the number of coupons she will let me use. This however is nothing compared with what you went through. They should have positive proof BEFORE calling the police if they are going to accuse you of illegal actions. BTW....is it really a crime to return monitors??? I could see if they had you on tape stealing them, that would be different, but wouldn't they have busted you then? I honestly feel the manager should be at the very least demoted, if not fired. Perhaps the DM could do right in front of you and about 10 others customers ~ poetic justice :)
Thankfully my CVS girls have always been nice. The one young girl is really nice and fast and I have EM CS @ CVS.com to commend her.

Wow. All I can say is I love my CVS, which is rare for Baton Rouge customer service. The clerks are always joking with me and amazed at the deals I get. Never get defensive about coupon, of course I never try any of the YMMV deals with them. I had one tell me last week I was "slipping" cause I actually had to give up some of my cash. When training a new girl a couple of months again the night manager to her to "Prepare to be amazed". She was. I often pass on my unused coupons and clothing store coupons/deal info which may help. I dont know what I would do if it ever changed.
THANKS EVERYONE!!!

Since this is from October of last year when they had the Nova for 29.99, generating 20EBs and you used the c/o's that were found in the booklets to make it free - why would you try to return the monitor?
I mean; I'm sorry that you were put through all of that but.....come on - CVS not only gave you the Nova but they also gave you EBs for them (per your post in that thread http://forums.slickdeals.net/showpost.php?p=8807298&postcount=1089).
I can already see that I am in the minority here but I don't consider it very honest to be given a product, use EBs that were given to your for that free item and then try to return the same item for cash, whether it is $20 or $70.
Maybe it would have been better to donate them, as you said you had originally intended?

NoNo! This was the NovaMax I bought well befor that. I had used the $50 coupon right wehn it came out on a $70 full price meter. That was before I joined slickdeals in December and then all the talk of people buying Glucometer stuck out to me becuase I had paid full price previously. I do not have diabetes, my Aunt does and she visits from out of town.
The meters I got in later in December (well after I bought the orginal) I actually donated to two different Animal Shelters in the Boston area. I thought about saving the test strips for my Aunt but she had already told me she did not like the Nova Max and I was not sure if the strips were compatable with other meters. Plus I Ithought it good to have on hand for my Aunt in case of emergence even if she did not like them.
Either way, at least YOU did your research before accusing me of wrongdoing and of trying to pull a fast one. Unlike the manager. I don't even think I bought the other meters at that store during that December deal thing - so I had no MO.

I did not mean to 'accuse' you of anything. I was merely asking WHY such a thing needed to be done. I am sorry if you took it be be a direct accusation. Everyone has their own set of morals and I am no-one's judge. However, I do tend to be one of those people who question everything that doesn't tend to fall within MY better judgement.....

LOL - Imma follow you from one thread to the next til I hafta go to bed.....Nope, new unregistered (throw-away) card.

Not all "new unregistered" cards are "un-used". I used to periodically check the top cards on the stack of "new ones" sitting by the register (the new cards half shoved under the register have even better odds of being not-quite-new). One time I hit the jackpot and found a "brand-new" card with $1500 worth of sales already logged on it! Got a great quarterly ECB from that one.

I purchased an Oral B CA Vitalizer toothbrush on 3/16. It should have been a weekly freebie - pay 4.99 receive 4.99 in ECBs. The store only charged 3.47. I knew it was the correct item because I carry the ad and run a visual check after making a few oopsies. Fortunately, I retained the ad & was able to confirm that I had an exact duplicate of the toothbrush in the ad. I contacted CVS.com and the lady who wrote back was useless. She was so stuck on the fact that I paid the wrong price that she refused to check to see if the item qualified.
On 4/2 I purchased 4 of the EOB toe separators for .99 each, which should have given me $10 ECBs since they were 12-15 of my final Essence of Beauty purchase. I contacted CVS.com and received no response after 2 weeks.
Finally, I called for both issues and the rep. was very helpful and was able to confirm that I was owed $15 ECBs for the tootbrush and the Essence of Beauty toe thingies.

Congrats on getting the ECB's for the TBrush...if you bought exactly what you typed, you should not have gotten them - good score!. I did the same thing (including my own oopsie) before I realized that both the Weekly AND Monthly ads were "incomplete" regarding their descriptions of those deals. For some strange reason (?laziness?) I still have both sitting right here in front of me.
In the Weekly ad for 3/16-3/22 the TB's deal is listed as "Oral-B CrossAction Pro-Health or Vitalizer Toothbrush / you pay $4.99...Free after ECBs", but the accompanying picture [rather blurrily] shows the OB CA PHealth & OB CA Vit Plus - both of which rang up at $4.99 as they should. The ad text left out the "plus" and that one rang up less than $4.99 & did not generate ECB's.
In the Monthly ad for March 2008 the deal is listed as "Oral-B CrossAction Pro Toothbrush / you pay $4.99...Free after ECBs", but the accompanying picture shows two different OB CA Pro-Health brushes - - both of which also rang up at $4.99 as they should have. The ad text left out the "health" and those rang up less than $4.99 & did not generate ECB's.
Congrats again on the free ECBs! And remember - never trust CVS. ;)
***Shameless product plug ahead*** - I bought both brushes and I must say that they are the BEST toothbrushes I have ever put in my mouth as far as feeling "clean" after brushing goes! I have owned water pic, sonicare, and [free-after-mfg-coupon] Disney Cars brands and the CA brand is definitely my all time fave!

I noticed that too with the toothbrushes that week...I searched through the whole darn display looking for the Pro Health ones to no avail. Seriously Oral B...what's the difference? Were the other ones just promoting amateur health?

I referred the CSR rep. to pg. 4 of the April book and no minimum price is listed there. I guess if these keeps up, I'll have to hire legal counsel to accompany me on my CVS runs to read the fine print. I don't believe the tags in the store had a minimum price either since their were ECB hang tags under 1.49 facial scrubs.
To the other posters, I did purchase the Vitalizer PLUS. I have no idea whether this is different from a Vitalizer, but the ad shows a PLUS, because I made sure that the day glo letters spelling the word plus in the ad, matched the words on the toothbrush I purchased.
I thought about letting both of these deals go after CVS.com ignored me on the EOB, and turned me down on the Vitalizer but being the true CVSer that I am, I found that they were in the back of my mind every day and that my mind would not rest until I tried to resolve the issue.
My Other Rant
I went to my gym CVS (I categorize my CVSes by where they are on my route) which I just started using in the evenings a few weeks ago. It's a nice incentive to get me to the gym - a little CVSing, then a little treadmill. Anyhoo, the first time I went the cashier had a hard time with the $4 off $20. After a few times, it became a little frustrating to watch him fumble through the same coupon as if he had never seen it before.
Finally, on Friday night, I purchase 6 bags of M&M, a Nexxus product, and I think my other product was the 2.49 organic cotton balls. I usually use a calculator to calculate down to the penny beforehand so that I am not paying more than .99. So I'm standing with my calculator, coupons, and ECBs - I'm ready to hand them to the cashier and he tells me that he hit the total key so that I cannot use the coupons. He has to do the transaction all over again.
He rings it up again, somehow he messes up the ECBs and the coupons and tells me that he needs to ring it a third time. By this time I'm becoming a little irritable I timed my CVS shopping to get to the gym with 1.5 hours of workout time before it closed and not only is the cashier slow, but he is holding me up with his mistakes. He had to call the manager to do the transaction, and of course, my ECBs would not work because they had already been used. The manager uses my ECBs that just printed out to finish the transaction and my eyes bug out. He tells me to calm down - he has it under control.
Long story short, after all that time, the manager gave me a $10 CVS GC (postage stamps, liquor & cigarettes, here I come) to replace the ECBs he used and he did not charge me anything OOP, I felt that the store could have given me something for wasting my time, but I think they had the attitude that I was walking out of the door with $20+ worth of product, & a $10 CVS GC having paid no cash, even though I used ECBs.
I probably was more upset than the situation warranted because I was trying to rush to the gym and today when I called CVS CS, I complimented the manager for the way he remained calm and pleasant even as steam escaped from my ears with my irritable mood.

loved1, I cannot speak for mitemouse - but I was just going off what you had originally typed and what I (and some others) had experienced regarding the TBrushes deal (didn't do the toe seperator deal myself). I didn't mean to offend, I was just trying to offer an explanation to the "no ECB printng" situation. Neither ad text(s) spelled out that you had to buy the Vitalizer "Plus" and the picture was very hard to read in all the printed ads I saw...usually, if the price isn't the same as what is listed in the ad the ECB will not print because that is the way the POS system is set up. Again, CVS does make mistakes so I am glad you stuck to your guns and got the ECBs!

I'm sorry you had to wait, but that have been all the money she had and was embarassed to go through the regular checkout with it.:(
Point taken, but I stand behind my rant. Any way you slice it, it is inconsiderate for a person to take 20 minutes to pay for a purchase of anything with only pennies and nickels. If that is all the money she has, then she can go to any bank, get some free coin rollers, and exchange the coins for real money. Or, some banks still offer coin counting for free. There are other options that won't inconvenience the fellow humans.

Would any other store give you something for wasting your time? I wouldn't go to Target and if it took them a long time to ring my order go to CS and state they should compensate me for my lost time.
That being said I think the manager was very nice in all that he did for you and it sucks that your trip/time got wasted.

Ahhhhh, but you only get free coin counting IF you have an account with the bank. No account - you pay a transaction fee.
If I were so broke that I needed to use change for a shopping trip, I wouldn't be paying a bank to trade my coins for paper!!
That being said, I've made my $600 house payment in all $1 bills just to make a point to my bank when they asked me not to bring in small bills. It's cash, it works - accept it or call it even :) They were more than happy to see me come in with my stack of $5 and $10 $ bills after that.
It is probably a good thing we are seperated by the internet, WB - I found it kinda amusing to inconvenience the bank when they wanted to inconvenience me!!

Sorry if my post came off as if I was offended. I wasn't in the least. I just wanted to clarify in case anyone else was having the same issue.
The CVS.com CS lady was great. I just spoke to her yesterday and my $15 ECB printed this morning. I broke it up by purchasing the freestyle meter, the double wrapped cheez-its, a blow pop, and the 24/7 mennen. Used 4 off 20, and the $1 mennen printable, and received $10, $3.99, and $3 ECBs, with .24 OOP.
It's already Wednesday and there are still so many deals yet to be done.

Oh my Gosh I even hate her.

Screw "mentioning" an attorney - you SHOULD call one for real and tell him/her what happened. I cannot imagine that you do not have some sort of an actionable civil issue here. You obviously have enough witnesses... Slander perhaps?
Here, here. This is a lawsuit for sure.
If you don't want to call a lawyer, blow past corporate, and write snail mail letters to all the officers of the company. You should be able to find them on a google search if they aren't listed on the CVS website.
Also, file a complaint with your Department of Consumer Protection.
NO WAY should you let this go.
If it were me, I'd call my lawyer!

lol.. let me add on to my rant.. so i have a crapload of pop and junk food.. for some reason my roommate invites people over for a bbq tonite.. well before i leave, i tell him make sure no one goes into my stash.. then he scuffs at me, so im guessing he planned on using that to supply a party i wasnt even invited too.. he says "why? you got it so cheap".. so i respond, if its so cheap and easy, why dont you start doing it... his reply was because he has a full time job.. fyi im just a full time student.. so i make this analogy : "when you get a raise at your job for putting in hard work and effort, does mitemouse get to benefit from this and go into your wallet.." then he scuffs at what i do being hardwork.. I tell him that he sits on his ass every sunday morning while im out gettin the new deals for the week, he could be right there along with me..
so anyways i come back home later and just a few pops were taken and some candy.. not a big loss.. but i always tell them throw me some money or some form of compensation and ill get you things really cheap.. but you cant expect to benefit from me driving all across town while my gas guzzlin v8 is tearing a hole in my wallet..

Your going to have to put a cabinet and padlock on there to make sure nothing is missing. Either that or buy a vending machine and put it in the hallway!

:comfort: That how it is at my stores. Each store and even individual cashiers have their own policies it seems.
I faced something same a few weeks ago,the manager had no problem taking my coupons as i was not using any fake ones, but there is this guy in the store who is always there, one day he was like no i am not gonna take thsi 4 off 20 coupon anymore from you & neither the 5 off 15 ( before it stopped beeping),he also told another cashier ,dont take her coupons she uses them evry time she shops.i felt really bad.I wrote a big email to the corporate ,they apologized & forward my email to the manager of the store. She personally called me & asked to come see her.Since that day i am comfortable with everything but didn't get a chance to see that cashier again.I think he is some assistant manager or may be shift supervisor.

You don't deserve to be treated rudely ... but truthfully, the 4 off 20 is really YMMV, especially if you use the same coupon "every time you shop". I mean, you can only be welcomed and/or change your email address so many times.
