The points weren't supposed to start until Nov. 2, I guess they decided to start earlier. 1000 points is the equivalent of $10.00.

From SS:
As a part of our shift to PayPal, SurveySpot will also utilize a point-based system. Points will be available on select surveys - in the same manner that cash incentives are currently offered. Once you reach the minimum redemption threshold of 1,000 points, the points can then be cashed out through PayPal. We're excited to add PayPal to our reward platform, as this process will greatly expedite the time it takes to receive your reward!

So 10 dollars to cashout rather than 5? As long as there aren't any paypal fees I'll be happy :)

I'm happy about the PayPal system but the minimum $10 cashout will limit people from cashing out too often

I'm not trying to pick on you personally...you're just the most recent person to post a message like this, so I'm using yours as the example.

SurveySpot didn't used to pay $0 - $2 for 20-30 minute surveys. They (and all the other companies) used to pay at least $1 for almost every survey and there were very few that offered only a sweepstakes. The longer surveys (20-30 minutes) paid $4 to $6 and actually took only about 15 minutes at most to complete.

Over time, the survey companies realized that they could reduce the pay and still get people to complete the surveys. It's gotten to where MOST of the surveys are for Sweepstakes entry only and the ones that do pay aren't paying enough to make it worth the time. Unfortunately, some of you are still doing them anyway...and that's why it continues this way. Until everybody stops doing the bad ones, we'll never get better pay like we used to.

There's no reason to do a 20+ minute survey hoping for a PT or Invoke. 95% of the PTs and Invokes are short surveys of 15 minutes or less...and very few are quoted as high as 15 minutes...most are closer to 5-12 minutes. So don't do anything over 15 minutes unless it pays well. You might occasionally miss a PT or Invoke, but you're wasting a LOT more time completing those worthless long surveys and killing it for the rest of us who want them to start paying again.

Perfectly said! I no longer do things that are over 4 or 5 minutes that might lead to a PT waste of time on longer surveys just for a sweepstakes entry that will probably not result in anything. 1-2 dollars for 20 minutes is utterly rediculous esp seeing that they're getting paid top dollar to recruit others to do the surveys. Till we band together and stop taking those long arduous surveys for a pittance they will continue to be this way.l too remember getting paid 4-6$ for a 10 minute survey but that's no longer the case.

I do not do surveys for sweeps regardless who its for andrefuse to do surveys for $1-2.00
they are a waste of my time. I will however do one for 5 mins generally those lead to a PT and you can tell by the questions asked.
The more people who do surveys for sweeps the more they will keep sending them out. If we all stopped perhaps they would get the message. I have noticed since I do not do the low paying surveys for survey spot I am getting more that are $5.00 and for 15 mins.

I wondered about that myself. Several years ago, I used to do surveys for a few companies and the pay seemed ok then- it was about 5 bucks per survey or something like that but then I got to moving around a lot and lost touch with the companies and didn't keep up with any of the info. In the last year, I went to signing up for a few of the survey companies and am wondering what happened. I just checked my mail and had 9 e-mails from SS, and only 2 of them offered pay- $1 each.

Yes to all of these and others, but I found it interesting that you left out my number one favorite site...MySurvey. Just about everything they send out is either a PT or some sort of diary or project that pays well. They also pay well for the follow-up surveys on the PTs.

And people like you are the reason why we don't get paid well for surveys anymore. You're working for $3.60 per hour! And the more suckers they find who are willing to do that, the fewer decent paying suveys there will be for the rest of us.
I do not do sweeps anymore, I just needed that money to see the doctor.

Same survey was offered by OO for $7.50. Now that's a little better than $3 for 50 minutes!
I never got it from them, I rarely get surveys from anyone so whenever i get one with money its almost certain i do it.

Ah, all completed Opinion Outpost surveys pay. Maybe you haven't made any money with them because you do not pay attention...

OO FAQ:

"Will I get paid for this?"

"You will always earn Opinion Points for each survey you complete. Opinion Points are redeemable for cash. 10 Opinion Points = $1.00. In addition, some surveys may offer other payments, such as a sweepstakes or other prizes. Each survey invitation will have details about the Opinion Points possible as well as other reward details."

OO is one of the best paying sites right now. It looks like a crappy points site because the point values are low, but 10 points = $1 and the only time I ever see a survey from them that's less than 20 points, it's a PT or something. The offer a lot of surveys in the 60-100 point range and they're normally 30 minutes or less.

Ugh, this is bad. I DQ on one after 3 questions, then I'm forced to answer more questions about whether I liked the survey or not.

This is very intentional on their part...they know we skip the ones with no pay and long estimated times, so now they won't tell us how long they are in advance.

I hate this. The site is slow, you have no clue how many points a survey is worth, how long it will take or the subject. Site/system updates are supposed to make things better for users, not screw over/annoy the people that make their business possible. And as someone else mentioned before, what will happen to cash surveys that are still pending? Also, I really love how they always played dumb about knowing what surveys we had taken or completed when we made inquiries about not being paid for completed surveys that offered incentives but suddenly they have a history of which were completed, started but not completed and all that jazz.

There is an actual link on the new site in the redeeming section or rewards section. I think that SS is intentionally set up this way as a lot of us have started to refuse doing long surveys and those don't pay. No mention of topics, points, time for completion is really bad and annoying. I would rather not to take any straight from the site to avoid wasting my time.

$9/hr is about $18k per year. Perhaps in 1975 that was good pay.

You forget that sitting at home on your fanny doing nothing at all = $0, so sitting at home on your fanny while earning a few bucks for simply giving your personal opinion $18k would be freakin fantastic no matter what year it is.

I did this survey too. I thought w/ the points, once the survey was completed the points would go into your account ASAP not 4-6 weeks?! Am I missing something?

The reason I downloaded the toolbar this morning is because I couldn't get ANY surveys unless I linked from an email invite. Every time I tried to click through the website, it would just lock up on me and nothing would ever load. Once I installed the toolbar, I got the same amount I was used to getting pre-conversion. I really HATE toolbars though!

Not sure if this has already been posted. Was actually only 15 minutes and a little different than the usual survey formats. There is added drawing in the middle of the study to win $100 worth of the products advertised.

You are invited to take part in a new survey with a unique design! It has 2 parts to be completed in 2 consecutive days. It should take about 30 minutes to complete the first part. You will be invited to the second part of the survey the next day after you complete the first one. Please note that you will need to access the same link. The second part will take about 10 minutes of your time.
**If you have completed the first day of the survey, please click on the link again to complete the second part. If you haven't completed the first part yet, please take the day one survey and then come back at least 18 hours later to complete the second part.**
If you qualify for and complete both parts, you will be rewarded with 300 points as well as an entry in the $25,000 cash sweepstakes and an instant win game play.
This survey is only available for a limited time so we kindly invite you to respond as soon as possible. As always, all information that you provide will be treated in the strictest confidence and will only be used for statistical purposes. Thank you for your participation!

Hello, I have a question to ya'll.
I feel like I'm wasting my time with surveys that lead nowhere. I cannot find any of the numbers you all posted but most of the surveys I get from SS lead me to globalepanel and I usually get no PT after a long survey. So do the globalepanel surveys ever lead to anything? I'm tired of doing them for bubcus.

Some survey companies you know to DQ from the second you see the first screen, because they will never lead to anything. One is OTX. Another is the one that puts out 18 and 20 minute surveys and the very first question asks you about the speed of your internet connection.

My advice on all other companies is to skip ANY survey over 15 minutes, unless somebody posts that it's a good one. You might miss some occasional PTs or studies using this strategy, but it's worth the risk to me because almost all good studies are 15 minutes or less.

Once you start a study, you can usually tell within the first 10 questions if it might be a PT, BB, or FG. If it doesn't look promising, exit the survey. For example, if the survey starts asking you to type in names of products or it asks you to view commercials, there's *usually* no PT involved.

Just use your judgement with sites like SS and accept that you might miss a few PTs over time...for me, it's worth it to miss a few PTs to not waste hours completing worthless surveys for free.

I don't know...whenever I get one of the surveys from that company I answer the first question (about connection speed) with "I don't know." The second question asks for gender and I answer Male, since there are fewer studies for men. Usually that will DQ me. If not, the third question asks for age and I type 12. About 95% of the time I get DQed after the 2nd or 3rd question...the rare times that it continues further than that, I just exit the screen.

I seem to be getting these 5 and 7 "interesting" minute surveys where they ask me alot of stuff about advertisments dealing with our favorite mass merchandiser(COUGH). They're always by the same company. I now immediately DQ when I see who it's by. Dont care if they are 5 minutes long. A few of those 5 minutes might equal 20 minutes in the long run. And I don't get anything for those combined 20 minutes

I am with you. I check my e-mailed surveys against the numbers here and never have the same ones or if I have, it lets me gets fairly far into it before telling me it's met it's quota.

However, I have found something out- if I pick one of the shorter ones out of my e-mail and do it, even if I know it leads to nothing, and just get to the More Surveys page on the site, I can sometimes find the ones I'm looking for there.

Anytime I have a 5 minute survey and the BigBuck (or whatever that company name is) screen pops up, I know it's for that same retailer and I just exit immediately. An advance clue that the survey is from that company is an email that gives the topic of shopping and says something like, "Ladies we need to hear from you."

I am with you. I check my e-mailed surveys against the numbers here and never have the same ones or if I have, it lets me gets fairly far into it before telling me it's met it's quota.

you should be able to create one on the spot but maybe cause the revamped it may take a little longer, hope this helps.

Keep in mind that this is the weekend. SS is aways light on the surveys over the weekend. I got just as many on Friday as I got before the conversion and I've had just as many over the weekend as I'd get on a typical weekend pre-conversion.

In fact, today they sent me two different surveys that paid $2 for 10 minutes. I DQd on both, but that seems like better pay for qualifiers than SS has had in a while.

They have already switched to Paypal for all new incentives (cashing out your points), you still have to request a mailed check for all old earnings.
