Credit for this goes to Skibum but since he hasnt posted it yet I'm going to go ahead and take the credit - On the SCO at Safeway if your coupon doesnt scan you can manually input the numbers using the enter PLU function. Basically its the option where you would enter produce. This is a super handy feature and I had no idea that it worked for coupon entering.

A coupon database is available at www.Families.com once you've registered there. Good resource for checking availability & location of coupons for specific items you're interested in. (Thx to errickson for the info!)

Also keep in mind the Entertainment Book typically has money saving coupons for Safeway listed quarterly. And, if your store doesn't object, these coupons sometimes do not beep based on dates.

Coupon use at Safeway
Safeway usually issues store specific coupons via various formats...newspaper ads, mailers & emails. You can sign up for emails on their website.

Their coupons tend to scan fine at any store within their brand, even if the stores are not in the same area. For example, Tom Thumb coupons work at Randall's, and vice versa.

Their coupons also tend to scan fine at any store within their brand, even if the coupon says it's good only at a certain store. The best example of these are the ones issued when a store is remodeling or for a grand opening.

Usually, their coupons scan fine when you are using two different types of their coupons on one product. For example, $1 off Tide from a newspaper ad and $2 off Tide from some other source. This only works when the two coupons are obviously different (check the codes). I am not sure if it would work if you were only buying one item and trying to use two store coupons. I've never had a reason to test that.

Their coupons can be used in conjunction with manufacturers coupons, even if that causes an overage, although they won't pay you to take products out of the store! :lol:

Some stores don't accept internet printable coupons, there is a corporate policy on what coupons they take, and some stores follow this policy to the nth degree. If you get to one of these stores, try the store down the street, it is probably much more coupon friendly.

Manufacturer coupons for free or bogo items tend to attempt to give you credit for the price of the item without the card discount, but they usually beep for the cashier to approve the coupon.

Self Checkout lanes (SCOs) are a great way to get out of the store quickly. You can use your coupons except all BOGO, FREE and coupons over $3.00 (may be $2) require cashier intervention. This can be a hassle if you have very many of these type of coupons.

Stores in different areas have different promotional deals regarding the doubling and/or tripling of coupons. If you see someone commenting on it here, you need to check what your local store does.

And while coupons may scan fine, the cashier you're dealing with can make any of the above YMMV. :)

In order to insure that we accept only legitimate printable internet coupons, Safeway has adopted the following store policies and guidelines:

• Do not accept coupons that do not have a manufacturer’s bar code or manufacturer’s redemption instructions.
• Accept printable coupons only if they scan properly at checkout.
• Do not accept more than one “copy” of the same coupon per customer.
• Do not accept coupons for Free Product (other than a Buy One Get One Free Offer that requires a purchase of the like item).
• Do not accept coupons for more than a $5 value or for more than 50% of a product’s retail price, whichever is lower.
• Do not accept printable internet coupons that do not have an easy to read expiration date or that extend more than twelve weeks. Most printable internet coupons may expire 30-45 days after you print them.
• Do not accept coupons that appear out of proportion or blurry, or are obvious duplicates.

Coupons may be rejected if they appear to have been altered in any way. Printable internet coupons are nearly always printed using the same technology and therefore have a standard format, with very specific security features, including a unique serial code.

To verify if an Internet Coupon is valid, see your Front End Manager. Printable internet coupons can be checked for validity at http://www.veri-fi.com

Safeway policy on B1G1F Q usage:

"On Buy One, Get One Free ("BOGO") offers, customer must purchase the first iem to receive the second item free. BOGO offers are not 1/2 price sales. If only a single item purchased, the regular price applies. Manufacturer's coupons may be used on purchased items only -- not on free items."

Okay, I went to Safeway and bought 6 deli creations and used to two B2G1 blinkie coupons and I got a 3.00 off 6 deli creations. These sandwiches are also on sale B1G1 so I paid 3.49 for six deli creations. Then I decided to go back and use the 3.00 cat that I got and bought 6 sandwiches and used 2 B2G1 and paid .49 and I also got another 3.00 cat.
I also tried to buy 12 deli creations in hopes of getting 2 cats but I only got one.

Where I stand on this subject. There is no way SW will end it entirely. That was the talk before. Everyone was stuck on it being discontinued. I disagree, just think it will be modified. Feel free to save this post and Heckle me 1 year down the road if I am wrong :crazy:

why wait a year? :) just remember safeway lost 160 million in PROFIT last year compared to the year before that. 80% of that loss was do to fuel stations. yes its not from 10cent gas credits, but since thats their profit hole, i think theyll keep rethinking it for a long time to come. im just glad its a pain in the rear-end to drive to the closest SW gas station. :)

However, I had 4 of the hormel meat coupons and they all worked, so I'm not sure what the deal is with it. I guess we might hear more about it if someone's coupons get rejected.

Heckle me now if you wish Superbob. I will politely disagree. 160 million in lost profits is the reason they will no longer offer great promos as before and also tighten down coupon policies like they are. They will act tough on "us", but will revamp the gas program to save the general consumer. The economy is tough, and SW can't afford further loss to competitors. I choose the optimist side here. They also will want to appear as helping you in a hard economy by giving a gas discount.

Like I said, let's wait and see who is right. I would have no problem eating my words if Safeway offers no more gas discount ever, I just don't think its the case. They are simply trimming the fat.

I agree pezzy whezzy! I honestly doubt if they felt a loss here they certainly would not be adding pumps to my store. Maybe they will discontinue it in some areas. Who knows. This area acts as of there is no problem in the world! LONG lines with people buying like crazy. Our Sunday has been $2 for a while now and the daily just went up to $1 a coupla months ago. :bigeye: I *always* check every paper now before I leave the store for complete guts. Not worth the time and grief to get all the way home with torn up pages and filched inserts.

So I have always wondered, does the 50% rule apply to the SALE price, or the full price. I would think it would be the full price. Safeway.com says:

ymmv on the GC. Do it first so they forget is best advice.

I tend to use free product mqs to get the total up. Glade, Beef Jerky, dog food, etc. Also Chinet is a good filler right now. Dont forget about any Vocal Point mqs for free items (cereal).

My experience has been that the Nature Valley Bar ecoupons come off when you by the Nut Clusters.

Check the coupons. The ones at our Safeway say "buy 2 O.M. shedded meats get 1 O.M. Deli Creations Free".

No there are NOT different Qs. The Q states Buy 2 OM meats which are priced at 3.99 each and get a Deli Creation free. So what the OP is raving about is beyond me! Unless he just likes S&M:mad:

How do you get so many ecoupons? I see only 3 in my account for NV granola bars - one each exp 9/27, 10/27 and 11/27. I also see two for the clusters exp 10/27 and 11/27.

On the online store if you look at promotions, there's a tab for BOGO. Under cleaning supplies pulls up a list of items that are BOGO until 9/29. I hope these items go on sale because they're at regular prices online. Not too impressive.

Actually I just looked and the NVNC are part of the deal (full list SW) and also all the fruit snacks are also. I don't know why you are not seeing it listed. Try going to grocery delivery put in 90210 and on the first page it has the B4G4 sale at the bottom in the middle. Click on it and it shows all products for the sale (by the way, this is a Vons store)

yes, just once. Once you have multiple eq's loaded is when more than one will appear on your receipt attached to one item.

Ok, the confusion about the 4/6 is that a few cereals were 4 for $6 this week. Tomorrow the nut clusters fruit snacks and other cereals will be on sale. I did a Covergirl deal to round out a 5/50. Got 1.72 clearance foundation and $10 mascara. The foundation didn't scan & checker took my word for 1.72 price. He put 1.72 on my bogo Q and I started to correct him but turns out the mascara didn't scan either so he input 1.72 for that also:lmao: guess I either bought more than I thought or he used 5/50 even though I was short! It didn't work the first time because after I registered, I didn't read all the details. Once you're directed back to the Safeway main page after registering, you need to go into your account details. Same thing happened to me with CAT for Capri Sun. The $4 came off and an advertisement for the free Capri Sun printed but no CAT for the Capri Sun. They just let me take a Capri Sun. I was bummed and hope they fix this soon.

I saw a display for Wtaer Front Bistro with similar flyer and there is a $2 SQ for ANY waterfront bistro product with a minimum purchase of $9.99 exp 12/31/09.
IMHO, this is similar with other SQ, you have to buy it with st else so your total order over $9.99 to make this Q works. Not neccessary $9.99 worth of WFB product.

I think the problem with the Capri Sun Cat printing might be the NV Nut Clusters. I bought 2 Cocoa Puffs and 2 Nut Clusters and didn't get the Cat. When the CS lady took my cereal and scanned it 4 times the Cat printed.

I am not very positive if this has been mentioned yet. If it's, I am sorry. I have not shopped SW a lot recently,
I saw a display for Wtaer Front Bistro with similar flyer and there is a $2 SQ for ANY waterfront bistro product with a minimum purchase of $9.99 exp 12/31/09.
IMHO, this is similar with other SQ, you have to buy it with st else so your total order over $9.99 to make this Q works. Not neccessary $9.99 worth of WFB product.
Used it once - bought item over $2 though(smoked salmon for hubs) but under 9.99
was using other SQs so had to be over $20 anyway.
Have yet to try on item under $2 (cocktail/tartar sauce on sale 1.69)
Saw new WF sauce - wasabi something that looked interesting but didn't see price

I'm in NorCal and I heard that Safeway's policy is to not let you use coupons on items if it would make the product free. If that's not the case, then there are a few coupons I'd love to use tonight! TIA!

I used the Capri sun CAT today on just the juice in one transaction- I had to pay .25 tax! I guess because it is a store coupon- but in my experience, store coupons usually take tax off.

looks good to me, but some cashiers may object, so YMMV. best to do in a larger order with at least 15-20 items for the best odds of success.

ymmv but technically the price of NVNC is $2.50 and then you get $1 off wyb 4 -- so $1.60 is less than $2.50. The cashier could still tell you No since over 50% of value -- never happened to me in hundreds of trannys.

Not all 4 for free though, no auto deduct at this store. Crackerfuls were $3.79. I paid for 3 ritz, and got 6 ritz and 12 crackerfuls. Will get my $ back with kraft rebate though.Yeah!!!

They are tracked. The week of the $10/50 I apparently used one card too many times. My last transaction would not allow the $10/50 or any of the SW coupons. It required manager approval and manual override (of course I got both). I checked out, got a new card (yes, another) the next day and started over. Oh.... not before recycling, the old card into the round receptacle. Don't need that haunting me later :ninja:

The nabisco rebate is in a book you signed up for online. It's has montly nabisco coupons and the rebate is $20 wyb 10 nabisco crackers, 5 capri sun/kool aid jammers and 5 macaroni cups.

I don't think this makes sense, because you would have to buy one Ritz (reg) and get one free (sale), and use one q to get free crackerfuls, and get another crackerfuls free (sale). So I think you would use one q, buy one regular, and get one regular and two crackerfuls free.

I'm not sure how true that is. I had 2 transactions last night, 1 with nut clusters and one without. (1st order - 2 Cocoa Puffs and 2 nut clusters, 2nd order -- 2 gushers, nv bars, and chex bars) and i didn't get a cat for either. I went to the CS desk and they gave me 2 boxes of capri sun for free. no questions.

Interesting. I did 2 rounds of Buy 4 Get $4 in one transaction and only received one Capri Sun CAT so I assumed it was like the WAG 1 RR per transaction rule. Do you think the 2nd one didn't print because of the NVC? Or is it 1 per transaction?

I did first round with TWO B4 deals and got TWO cats for Capri using No NV Nut Clusters.

I know the flyer only says NV Bars. BUT they ring as part of GM Cereal deal just no cat.

Either SW has programmed NC wrong (I was happy with the $3.40 overage.) or Cat should have included NC in the cat programming. Catalina should tell me, hopefully today.
