I swollowed my pride and clicked on the link of a Slickdeals sponsor (The one with the French Fries on it). On the banner and on the first page it says you will get the gift card for doing a survery. Well, there was no frickin survey. None at all. All it did after the first page was tell me I had to sign up for offers to get the gift card. I had some time to kill while at work. So, I was just looking for a survey and wanted to try out a Slickdeal's sponsor.

Now I know why I never click on those sponsor banners. Not sure why Slickdeals would have such a misleading sponsor.

The banners are a way that SD generates income. And yes, most of those are liers & decivers.

Link takes me to a 'FREE Dallas Cowboys Jersey' page.

Anything with that template is a sham, they have 'em for just about everything you can think of. Even jellybeans.

Adblock in Firefox does a great job in minimizing this sort of stuff...

I'm not sure if Memolink is legit or not, but not all of "these types of sites" are scams. That's a horrible generalization. I know for a fact that I-Deal Direct has these types of sites and they're legit. Don't take my word for it, though, go research other forums on the web and you'll see.

I was just going to suggest Firefox to the OP too.

Just FYI, it seems as though *most* banner ads that have some sort of poll in them "Who's French Fries do you like more?" or "Catch the Leprechan and win a 200 dollar gift card" ..things like that..they are almost always just scams to get you to sign up for things. Usually after answering 1,200 "Do you want to refinance your home?", "Do you want to earn up to 10,000 dollars a month" type questions..you'll get to the final "Just sign up for three of our sponsers programs and you'll receive your gift card." Just don't ever trust or click on banners like that and you'll save yourself loads of wasted time, lol.
