It so has to be a bug because I just won too. I have been with OO for nearly two years and NEVER won anything. I clicked a link to start a 25 point survey and instantly got the DNQ screen... which is not out of the ordinary for me, clicked No Thanks to the other survey offer and then clicked the IWG... won and almost wet myself.

Congratulations, recent $50 winners! I won with Opinion Outpost about a year ago. It surprised the heck out of me, too. My sister has also won the $50. Now, I'd like to hear about someone winning the new $750 Sweepstakes!

I think OO is messing with me because I won the 50$.. ok so I had like 9$ in my account yesterday and then last night I signed in and the balance was $-5.10 and i thought that was really weird. so I sent OO a message asking why I had a -5 and what happened to my 9 bucks.. they never responded, but today when i signed in my balance was $0.0.. WTF they kept my 9$

My winnings and earnings are still there. I was at $0 when I won because I had just requested a $200 check, the $50 I won is in there now as is the $13.50 I earned last night. If your total stays at $0 and they do not reply to your inquiry... my guess is you violated the rules somehow and you are SOL.

My points randomly disappeared and went back to zero too!!! Must be some sort of system error?
I checked out a few days ago, but had 21 points since that were there as of last night.
Edit:
Also, just saw in my survey history something real strange:

See my edited post above, do you have something weird in your survey history as well? Seems like the same thing that happened to you just happened to me, however must have happened later, as on the time of your original post I still had my points.

Must have read it wrong, I thought you were saying that you were missing the winnings and your earnings. Give it 24 hours, bugs or errors like that usually get fixed in that period of time. I would hold off on doing any surveys until then.

If points are missing, it's because OO is claiming that you did not complete that two-part cell phone survey where you had to call to test out the tech support service. I did, so I know it's BS. They asked for my participation number in order to check - who the hell would keep that after the points were credited?

wow, you're right, I didn't notice but now it shows 8/150 for that, plus the other weird stuff for the adjustment. How is it my fault, I called and took that test of the service, of which they knew less about how to use an iPhone than I do..... not like I remember my 4-digit code, ugh.

Sounds like the company didn't fully pay OO for the study and OO is trying to recoup its money.

I finally talked to a OO rep and they told me that i also did not "complete" that 150pt survey, which i definitely did. I remembered my ID number and emailed it back to them and explained my experience with the MTS in great detail ... since then I've had no response from OO.

I just called them to talk about this issue and the guy basically told me that even with my number (which I don't have), they wouldn't necessarily be able to verify as MTS isn't working with them to record which numbers actually called. He said they are "investigating" the issue, but wasn't sure if they would be able to figure it out. He apologized for the "inconvenience it caused" and noted that they only took off enough points to bring you down to zero, and didn't go further. So, since I had 21 points previously, after they decreased me from 150 to 8 points on the survey (net loss of 142), they then gave me an additional 121 to make up for the ones I already had. Basically, if you had zero points, you lost nothing, if you had 142 points at the time of the adjustment, you lost 142. Fair....?
But he told me not to worry, "they are looking into the matter." ugh.

I am thoroughly impressed with OO, I requested a $200 check on 06/28/2010 and received it today. This is the fastest I have ever received a check from them or any other company, it is especially impressive because of the holiday. Synovate should take note of OO's methods, as I am still waiting for a $25 check from them requested on 05/15/2010.

It's probably not "mystery money", rather payment for a PT or Invoke you forgot about.

They went back and changed everyone back from the 8 points to the 150 points for the phone survey (well, maybe not everyone, but I assume at least the ones who complained with proof). When they originally took the points off, they had an "adjustment" so that you went back to zero. Example, they subtracted the 142 (150-8), but since I already had 21 in my account before the change, they "adjusted" be my 121 (142-21). Now that they changed it back to 150, they accidentally left in the "adjustment" in there, so there are extra points. In my account I incorrectly have my original 21, plus the 121 adjustment for 142.
Seems like errors all over, especially if yours shows an extra $30.

I've never had an invoke from OO and as for PTs im not sure, ive only done 2.. shaving cream and a chocolate milk. none of which stated any extra payment. i checked my history and i have no explanation for the 30... my best guess is they double paid me for the 150pt survey once i showed "proof"(my ID #) of the survey... anyway i cashed the 30 so im happy:D

Hm that's weird I haven't gotten credit for that same survey, I e-mailed them though. I mean I have a Blackberry 8900 and I called in they took my unique ID number and then I talked to them about my e-mail with T-Mobile because it was acting up and they actually talked me through resetting the e-mail, got through to the technical survey at the end finished that and it said goodbye no points though, only the 8 points from completing the actual 1st part of the survey. Let's see what the customer service says.

I've done very well with OTX surveys I have to say it's surprised me lately....Maybe out of the last 10 or so I've fully completed 7 of them. I've been off OTX for a while but I figured why not, maybe they realized that no one will take them and they're getting a little more lenient with their screenings.

Make sure you have all of the "old" plug-ins deleted from your last focus groups. I FINALLY figured that out 5 minutes too late on my second focus group. AS soon as I found the old plug-in and deleted it, the new one started downloading.

I had to roll my IE back to version 7 because Invokes stopped working after updating. I never update my IE anymore because of that but I do make sure my Windows Media Player and Flash are updated a couple days before I do an Invoke. When they are wrapping up at the end of a session they have the automated "How much did you enjoy the session?" and "Would you be interested in participating in future sessions?" multiple choice prompts, after which you can enter some feedback. I always suggest the same thing... "Start hosting sessions in Firefox!".

Just as with any other survey people do or do not qualify for... it is about demographics. The only things I can think of other than that which might prevent you from qualifying is when you answer as to what OS and browser you are using.

I do Invokes with Internet Explorer 8 with no problem.
The best way to do this is when you install a new version of the browser first uninstall Invoke plug in. Then update browser and when its time to do the Invoke you will get a warning on your browser asking if you want to install the plug in- click yes- install. After installing the Invoke on your new version of IE you might have to close down your browser, open it up again and click the Invoke study link to start the Invoke.

My smart husband finally figured out the problem - it was something to do with ActiveX and the privacy setting. Not the simple fix they tell you in the troubleshooting guide, he had to adjust the custom one. Anyway - I also got the log in and test info and it works!! :woot:

Ever since they recently changed it to where they no longer show the full code in my account but it has to be emailed to me, I never get the emails (still waiting on 2 codes). Checked my junk mail, deleted items, etc. - nothing.
I wrote them and am waiting to get a response, but I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem. I'm sure I should be more patient than waiting just 24 hours to hear back.

It depends entirely on the study. Most are immediate. If they take longer than a couple days OO will send you an email to let you know that the study has credited.
OO is by far one of the best when it comes to stuff like this. That and the fact that when you request a check from them you generally receive it within a week (I have received in as little as 3 days) makes them one of my favorite companies.

I called and sure enough my account was frozen and it was due to the fact that I got a new laptop and I had to explain that my old computer broke and started using the new machine. I guess they wanted to make sure I wasn't trying to take surveys under multiple accounts which was not at all the case. They are probably my fav not that MyView has started a new trend of offering .25 surveys (although 350 points looks impressive, it still ends up being 25 cents). Viewpoint is moving up these days too (I admit it, I can be bought and a $200 flip cam makes a good down payment). OO is my most consistent pay-out and one of the few that always gives reasonable compensation.. I would hate to lose them too. Congrats on taking the time to clear up the issue and getting them back... and on the new laptop. ; )

What other survey sites offer good cashout like this?
Mine is not the most popular of demographics so I am sure that many do much better than I do but OO is my top lately.
MyView is still good, just not my fav and the key to them is going to their site and seeing if they have anything new.
I still really like Global Test Market. I may only qualify for 1 of every 4 they send but they send a ton and unlike SS and Valued Opinions, they have NEVER sent me .50 or 1.00 surveys.
Viewpoint Forum - they don't do a lot but when they do, they pay.
I-Say - OK yes, they pay low but they are good for a cool PT every now and then and, at least in my case, they tend to send surveys I actually qualify for and enough of them that I can pull a couple Amazon cards a month out of them.
The problem with asking who are the best survey companies is, it depends so heavily on your demographic. How old are you? How much do make? Married? Kids? Nationality? Number of days a week you wear toe socks, What did your great grandfather do for a living? It's all very subjective.
I give everyone a try within reason and then weed out the ones that are a complete waste of my time (cough cough MySurvey, hack, cough).

I went to cash out today (amazon). Mine had Red Cross min $10, amazon min $5, visa min $10, check $20. A year ago, my only option was check, minimum $5. A month ago, all minimum $5.
I'm not liking this new change. Also, sometimes I'll be doing a survey, and 10-15 min into it, it'll disqualify me (during the actual survey, not the qualifying pre-survey). Or I'll get an error at the end. Or the survey just won't load at all. It didn't used to be like this. I'm getting frustrated at OO now... it used to be my favorite survey site.

I wonder if they are researching different offers? I still have 1 option - a check and a $5 minimum. Since they only do 1 check a week I always just wait til Friday and usually have at least $20 anyway so no big deal if they change the minimum.
I have noticed that far more surveys are going into pending these days than usually do. I used to rarely have anything go into "pending" but now 4 of every 5 that I do make that little lay-over.

Looks like my cash out page is changing again, I had just the $5 Checks earlier today and now I have these options:
>> Donate to the American Red Cross
Use your Opinion Points to help the Red Cross give the gift of hope to someone in need.
redcross.org.
$10 Minimum donation 100 Opinion Points
>> Request an Amazon.com® Gift Card* claim code
Redeem your Opinion Points for an Amazon.com® Gift Card Claim Code and begin shopping immediately.
$5 Minimum request 50 Opinion Points
>> Request a Citi® Gift Card

$15 Minimum request 150 Opinion Points
>> Request a Check

$20 Minimum request 200 Opinion Points

Has anyone requested a check in the past 10 days? Are you seeing a longer turn around. Normally I would have received a check from my last request sometime last week but nothing has come.
I'm just wondering if their processing time has expanded or if my brainiac mailman has screwed up again and I need to warn them that the check may be coming back to them. (Saturday I received a boxful of mail for the roofing company three blocks away but none for me)

OO should drop citi cards and add PayPal $5 minimum payout. PayPal is a lot faster than checks anyways. They should also drop donating to the red cross. If people had money to donate to the Red Cross, they wouldn't be taking 30 minute surveys for $2.00.

Multiple small check cash outs are why they raised the threshold. I prefer Paypal over all other forms of payment but I love the instant Amazon GCs (now instant email Amazon GCs) and the check option is not bad because mine have always arrived pretty quickly (I only request them over $100). I am not a fan of the Citi cards (or any similar cards) and I agree with Majax about the donations.

I understand that they are raising the check cashout threshhold because of having to issue multiple checks, but it stinks making people wait until $20 to cashout.
I get disqualified for so many surveys lately that it takes a long time to accumulate that $5, $20 will reallly take a while.
It would be much better if they just added a Paypal option like someone else said, and as another poster pointed out - who is going to want to donate $10 to Red Cross?

Hi XXXXXXXXXX,
As of this time, we are currently working with PayPal to make this a new reward option. We know for many of you that PayPal is a more convenient way to receive your Opinion Points. We are excited to be able to introduce this new method of redeeming Opinion Points to you soon.
In the meantime, please take advantage of our existing reward options. Should you have other concerns please email us.
Have a great day!

That is the main reason i rarely use OO. Most the surveys i DQ, but i don't mind so much because people really do win that $50 instant prize. I noticed a lot of the surveys want you to install software on your computer for a month, i definitely avoid these. The site should be about taking surveys, not about installing random programs.
After i made $5 with them i noticed they blocked my account. I sent them an email asking why and they said i severely sped threw the surveys and they gave me a second chance giving my account back. I take the surveys at the same speed as i do on SS and i never got in trouble with them. These survey companies are overly strict in terms of qualifying and the speed at which you do them. Out of 30 or so surveys i have tried i was able to complete 2 of them and i do them honestly.

I love and adore OO but there is one thing I don't get. What is the point of their OTX surveys? They never seem to actually have one available for you they just cycle you thru the same questions over and over. I do rememer one time actually getting a survey first time thru but at this point I answer 4 questions. If #5 is part of their ridiculous system, I walk away. (Have you noticed that GTMs OTX surveys are ALWAYS sweeps entries only? It's like a masochism test... ok, yeah, you'll do this for free, but just how much will you you do for free)

I avoid OTX surveys whether they come from Opinion Outpost or some other panel. At least Opinion Outpost gives you a warning that the survey is from OTX. You can also update your profile and let them know that you don't want to receive OTX surveys. I did that several weeks ago. A few have still slipped through, however.

So the meaning to OTX is a survey that does not pay? So far i have always been offered a survey that pays but looking at my history i have only qualified for and completed 4 out of 60 surveys over the span of about 6 months. I might get a new survey every 2-3 days and chances are i will not even qualify for it.

OTX surveys from Global test Market never pay. It's almost as though they know that OTX is a hot mess so all they offer are sweeps entries. OO does offer pay for their OTX surveys but they very clearly warn you that OTX is going to put you thru the ringer and 9 times out of ten, at the end, give you nothing.
I think most survey takers learn very quickly that OTX is an exercise in futility and avoid their surveys like the plague. Every so often I get a tinge of masochism and take the leap. 9 times out of ten, I regret it.

Does this mean that something is just going to show up at my house? I wasn't asked for an address, or my permission for them to send me anything... but part of the agreement involved my use of products.

If they did not ask for your address they won't be sending anything. i have had it happen once or twice before. I could be that the product testing aspect of their study is filled or completed and they just needed to augment the informational part.

I still love OO, but I'm not getting as many survey invites nor qualifying as often as I used to (well I did get $4.00 for one today). That one put me at .80 cents shy of $100.00 and that's because I won the $50 instant win three months after I signed up. Considering I'm new at this, I think $100.00 is pretty darn great! I just recently noticed that my cash out threshold went from $5.00 to $20.00 and that's only because I saw it mentioned on a forum somewhere. Looks like it'll be Amazon for me next time around after cashing in. Anyone ever get the Citi card from OO?
Don't like DQ'ing, but I'd rather DQ early into a survey, than go 20 minutes and then get DQ'd. That is really frustrating and frankly unfair. I know, I know...my mama used to always have to tell me that "life isn't fair". Guess I still haven't learned that lesson!

i think their customer service is pretty bad actually...i've completed surveys and then had a technical error...they'll respond to the complaint but say they cant do anything for 2-3 weeks. then they'll either ignore you or give you half-credit in good faith but make you feel like they are doing you such a big favor
i had to file a BBB complaint once...if forgot if i filed it against OO or WesterWats but it went unanswered so i filed again against the other. they said they were only agreeing to credit me because my first complaint went unanswered and that they offer a $50 instant win for DQ and that should be good enough
overall i think they are one of the better companies but when you encounter technical errors and complain about it they make you feel like you're the bad guy

It is Nielsen, it is not worth the effort for the amount of compensation offered. Ignoring those invites is the best way to handle it.

I constantly get that Nielsen toolbar survey, I close out of it every time and it lingers in my 'available surveys' until a NEW Nielsen toolbar survey is available.

I had a problem with one of the surveys I had done not crediting. When i wrote them about that issue I explained that I had no intention of installing the software on my system and asked them to remove the Neilson along another survey of the same type from my que.
Two days later they had fixed the crediting issue AND removed both of the surveys.
I love OO! :)

HU - the 5 min survey for 5 pts (36222346) is more like 20 minutes. I shot off an e-mail asking them to remedy.
Their 'remedy' was saying that they meant to credit 8 points instead of 5. Yes, because 80 cents is waaaaayyyy better than 50 for a 20 minute survey.

I just did my first invoke and I'm a bit confused on payment.
Will OO pay me for the invoke or Invoke itself. Because I don't think invoke ever asked for my address

OO will pay you, as long as they quoted you payment for the invoke. some companies pay within 2 weeks, it depends on the time frame you were provided..

Maybe I'm just not the type of person they want for a lot of surveys or I arrive too late to take them (not on 24/7), but I've been going the exact same number, 1 in 9. I'm surprised because I'm a male and I thought survey companies have a hard time getting male survey takers.
