More info...

Compensation is $75 for a little over two hours of time investment, but you won't get your money for close to a year and a half! Still not a bad deal if you're at all curious about the study. I think I'm going to pass if they call...

Thanks for your interest in our HPV research. Here is a bit of info about our study:
We are studying Human Papillomavirus (HPV) infections. HPV are viruses that infect skin cells. We are interested in studying HPV infections of the genital tract in women aged 25 to 65, including the relationship between infection of the genital tract by human papillomavirus (HPV) and sexual practices, health behaviors, and health history. If you decide to participate, and are eligible, you will be asked to self-collect 4 sets of vaginal samples for HPV testing at home, 4 months apart. You will also be asked to complete a medical/sexual history questionnaire each time you self-collect samples. Each self-collection takes about 10 minutes to complete and each questionnaire takes about 30 minutes to complete. If you are interested, you will also receive the results of your HPV tests. We will tell you ‘positive’ or ‘negative’ and if positive, we’ll tell you which genital type(s) you are positive for.

There is $75.00 compensation for participating, which will be mailed at the end of your participation in the study. Also, all the testing is free and we cover all mailing costs.

If you sign up for the study, you are assigned a unique study code and all your questionnaires and samples are labeled with that code - no names are attached to samples or questionnaires. I (the study coordinator) am the only one who has access to the (secure) database that can link your name and study number.

We will need to go through a screening interview to determine if you are eligible - this takes about 10 minutes and has to be done via phone. Is there a number and specific time I can reach you before 5pm Pacific time?

Times are officially tough!

next sample march 2009
last sample july 2009

and thats if you actually start in july so while its not 2010 you have to wait till it will be close.

However I would do it if I was a female :bounce:

Hmm. You ever been to the post office and tried to mail off something and they asked you are there any weapons in here or anything that can be potentially hazardous to anyone else? Just wondering cause they say that HPV is easy to catch. Anyway, I would do it lol, but i'm too young.

If you are curious about whether or not you have HPV (or if you just want to make $75), give Sandra a call at (206) 543-3327. Tell her you are interested in the at home "HPV Test Study". You test four times in the course of one year, mail it back to them and get $75.

Thanks for checking in - I am awaiting delivery of supplies before I can send out your kit (we have had some severe weather here and the city was basically shut down for a week and a half).
